Well, yeah. That's kinda the genius of House. See, it needs episodal arcs (which are automatic in the format) but really, what viewers are watching is the long huge arc of House and the other characters evolving as people. The formula of (most) episodes is so that the writers can not worry about that, and just focus on the people as entities, and on their crazy-witty dialogue.

It's a shorthanding tool, in order to create structure, familiarity, and quality arcs, on TV's demanding deadline. :D
