  • looks like a silicone bag

    poor baby

  • Oh that poor little baby....Hope she is well and healthy.

  • its like a nutsack

  • Its a PEARL!

  • its a breasts implant

  • Lmfao!!!!

  • Good work !

  • Is there any update on this little girl? I hear things about the ability of very young people to recover from things like this - the brain being very adaptive. It will be very interesting to hear her progress.

  • oh my god..

the cyst seemed to fill almost of her whole head. was she survived?

  • holy shyt, must be a fkin world record

  • The X-rays remind me of that one scene in FLCL

  • wat are the chances of getting one

and how do you know if you have one

  • Well, stem cells is a ray of hope in terms of repairs, for many with tissue loss leading to fuctional impairment

  • very true. it would be interesting to follow someone on treatments like that. like Flowers For Algernon come true, hopefully not the end though.

  • I am doing some studies of A&P, But i was wondering what kind of effects a cyst that big would have on the mental capacities of a person.

I also wonder about the brain matter that should have been there. will it grow back now that its gone? Was it compressed against the skull? Or never there in the first place?

  • it should reinflate over a decade or 2 depending on the care the patient gets. there may be mental imparment prior to surgery, not because of the cyst's presence entirely, but because it puts pressure on surrounding blood vessels going to functioning tissues. there may be permanent brain damage, with this size, probably noticeably by mental function. remember, most brain tissue is not neurons, but the spongy material which support and cushions it. and the brain can share tasks among many circuits

  • i wouldnt be at all surprised if they put a saline pouch in there to support the tissue so there isnt just a big air filled hollow area in the brain, but a small tube through the skull to relieve pressure to allow the tissues to grow to fill it in. its unlikely that area will have even 1/1000th of the neuron density of any other part of the brain, but the cushioning cells grow at a decent rate all through life. lol, i bet if they gradually injected stem cells, normal tissue would regrow.

  • thank you!

  • omg that's huge! what about the other two cysts? are they gonna take em out when they reach such a size??

  • it looks like a tapeworm egg sac..

  • Very good doctor, and a very lucky girl.

  • i wonder how bad of a headache you had to have to realize it wasnt normal

  • that looks like a silicone implant

  • .. omg don´t tell me that she can count or read now..

  • how does it get in there?

  • abnormal growth of a cell

  • what is the fluid inside the cyst? MY guess would be water.

  • parasites, the thing can be formed by having tapeworm.

  • her brain was basically squished by that thing.

  • whats that thing got in it

  • not sure but my best guess would be water.

  • i could play basketball with it!!!

  • It's actually a type of tapeworm larvae. The cyst is the sac that they form in. That's why it's so important to get it out of the brain--if it ruptures, all the tapeworms will be inside of the brain.

  • This little girl's nickname should be airhead from now on.

  • Fuck! How did she function after that

  • thats sad that little girl was only 6

  • Its a dinosaur egg!or an alien egg

  • kid must have had a dirty mind. hehe.

  • i wonder if this person survived. we were just covering this stuff in micro I class. Scary stuff

  • how could this grow so huge?! damn..

  • definitely gonna have brain damage...

  • shyt thats a big ass part of her brain missing

  • Comment removed

  • i wanna poke it with a needle and drink the shit inside of it.

  • Fucking sick, dude

  • the cyst is made up of thousands of tapeworm eggs

  • dude...they ripped her brain to shreds...ouch

  • the cyst looked like a breast implant. This is hard to believe.

  • still cant belive its too bizar xD

    but contratulations anyway

  • It is amazing that she is still alive

  • Holy shit! that cyst must have been developing in her brain since her birth! she's only 6 and its that big! wow...

  • OMG how can he/she survive with that squishing their brains out damn

  • Wow, I hope the child is ok.

What exactly is inside one of these cysts? it looks like just liquid but is there also a worm or something? What do you do with the space left by the cyst?

  • O.O poor girl...that had to be painful...VERY painful..

  • Actually,when performing on the brain,they can't feel a thing. :)

  • im amazed he didnt die from how is brain is pushed in

  • i hope shes okay gob bless her

  • what the fuck man,im supprised she diddnt die

  • yes this was on TV about the hydatid cysts. When a human gets infected, it interupts the dog tapeworm's life cycle. The worms get basically trapped inside the human host with nowhere to go. They don't feed on the human body so aren't really parasites. Sometimes the cyst forms in the abdomen where it can grow to the size of a basketball. what's amazing in this clip is that with this huge thing taking over the poor boys skull, he still survived.

  • loks like a snow globe lol

  • How the heck did he get a breast implant in in his head?

We know what he was thinkin about!

  • LOL you son of a bitch! ahahahah

  • Kagome6691 is right. I just checked it out, and the cyst is filled with parasitic larvae!!! Gross.

  • -gets a needle-

  • i would love to pop that thing

  • LOL watch for squirts!

  • poor boy

  • What would a solid cyst like that be made of?

  • tapeworms

  • Not likely, i don't think. Maybe a fluid sac?

  • Trust me, it was on Animal Planet's show "Parasites". It's filled with baby tapeworms.

  • That cyst is huge!

  • Was the child in a lot of pain?It looks like that cyst would exert tremendous pressure on the brain.

  • Does the brain fill up a lot of that space as the child grows up? God gave you surgeons and nurses an amazing gift to save lives. Thank the Lord for people like you. :)

  • it is expected that brain will expand quite a bit, well child is being followed and will be rescanned

  • Its amazing how big that was. If the space is not filled after wards wouldnt the brain be able to move around in the skull to much and cause serious problems Im guessing thats why you have to fill the area up? Also if that ruptured it would kill the patient correct?

  • Is this for real...OMG! wow

  • Absolutely unbelievable.

  • Wow. I couldn't have resisted skull phucking that afterwards!

  • That was amazing! I am shocked at the size of it. And the fact it came out of a child. God bless that child. And the surgeon and doctors and nurses involved in such a surgery.

  • Was there any damage that remained?

  • what did you do with all the extra space?

  • the space was filled with saline at the end of operation,

  • Did the child have impaired function before and/or after surgery? The size of the cyst is shocking. Does the brain grow somehow to fit the empty space left by the cyst?

  • yes, mild motor/cont pre and post op equal, and speech which recovered post op, following the child, and there was empty space, further development/scans will be posted,

  • that is huge
