I think the Iraq war was based on good intentions and bad intel. Or it could be that Saddam really had WMDs and he just disposed of them before we even entered. Businesses and investors all over the world must have a nearly risk-free asset in which to invest in order to counterbalance the more risky assets in which they also invest. The US is fine, anyone that tries to make it out like the US is on a downward spiral either doesn't know what they are talking about or is making shit up.
