Well if you think about it from a non kids point of view the whole movie would be considered “Inappropriate”… in basic terms it’s about finding a mate, seducing them, win them over, do them, have babies…. And that is what happens when we over think the small things. : ) Personally a kid of the age group this movie is aimed for doesn’t look for innuendos nor think of the smallest dance move butt slap as anything more than a dance move.

Usually I prefer to listen while discussions go on, and not argue, but I am not offended by it since penguins' butts seem to be on the very bottom of their bodies (under the tail) and Mumble appears to be patting her higher--a la on her back, even though the way she gyrates makes it look like her butt is higher. There are worse moments, which I don't mind anyway, near the beginning when Mumble's chasing Gloria on the ice and they slip into an awkward position. Plus penguin's rears are under their tails. I would say an 8 . . . it is a bit "woah" for a kids movie and i was shocked when i saw that but as many people in the comments are saying, not many kids would notice or care. As for mature inuendos and sneak-ins go, this is nothing compared to other things ive seen in children's shows. I say its no biggie.
@Kitten4000 I would tend to agree with you on the occasional mature sneak-ins in kids' movies - if there weren't a few jokes directed at the adults in the audience, it would be a lot less fun to take the little tykes to some of the inane stuff that passes for "family" films these days. But Happy Feet is not one of those movies; it stands on its own as an amazing film for all ages, & has something in it for everyone. Remember all of the "Easter eggs" hidden in the old cartoons? I think that even though this is supposed to be a kids movie the only parts that are really meant for kids are the singing and cuteness I think the rest was addressed to teenagers and adults which was a pretty smart idea, cause I know if I was still eight or nine I wouldn't have been able to follow the storyline AT ALL It sorta feels like they cut corners when explaining that Mumble was likely put in a zoo and returned back to the ocean.

I've always noticed that, but.. there are a few other mature themes in Happy Feet. Quite honestly, I don't see the themes as bad at all. I mean... There's nothing wrong with having a few small mature things in an animated movie.. I mean, they obviously do love eachother. 10 I didn't even notice haha! XD It's kinda stupid getting worked up about it. There are worse moments, which I don't mind anyway, near the beginning when Mumble's chasing Gloria on the ice and they slip into an awkward position. Plus penguin's rears are under their tails. Not on the 'hip' area which is where Mumble slaps her.

I would say an 8 . . . it is a bit "woah" for a kids movie and i was shocked when i saw that but as many people in the comments are saying, not many kids would notice or care. As for mature inuendos and sneak-ins go, this is nothing compared to other things ive seen in children's shows. I say its no biggie.

@Kitten4000 I would tend to agree with you on the occasional mature sneak-ins in kids' movies - if there weren't a few jokes directed at the adults in the audience, it would be a lot less fun to take the little tykes to some of the inane stuff that passes for "family" films these days. But Happy Feet is not one of those movies; it stands on its own as an amazing film for all ages, & has something in it for everyone. Remember all of the "Easter eggs" hidden in the old cartoons? WAY more racy ;-)

So let me see if I understand properly, since we found the first adult reference in a disney movie we look at EVERY SINGLE animated film; Musical or not, and see if there is somethign we can bitch about, yes these movies have a split second of more...mature references but who cares? seriously? this movie kicked ass and it still does, if you want to complain about a film go watch something from an independent festival. Dude if you think that this movie is inappropriate, the you should think again. This isn't "Farce of the penguins" seriously, this is a family movie, yes there was a couple of seconds where both Mumble and Gloria were stumbling around in all kinds of positions, but a slap on the butt during a dance, that's just a dance move so it's a 10, and I dance a lot so it's no biggie anyways.

There's also a part in the movie shortly after they all go fishing for the first time. when gloria jumps out of the water, and mumble jumps out shortly after her and lands on her, that whole part where their stumbling around seems a little crude for children lol from what i remember they were in the missionary position, his face goes in her crotch, then doggy style, then back to missionary i believe. its quite hilarious if you ask me though lol

I think that even though this is supposed to be a kids movie the only parts that are really meant for kids are the singing and cuteness I think the rest was addressed to teenagers and adults which was a pretty smart idea, cause I know if I was still eight or nine I wouldn't have been able to follow the storyline AT ALL It sorta feels like they cut corners when explaining that Mumble was likely put in a zoo and returned back to the ocean.

I've always noticed that, but.. there are a few other mature themes in Happy Feet. Quite honestly, I don't see the themes as bad at all. I mean... There's nothing wrong with having a few small mature things in an animated movie.. I mean, they obviously do love eachother. As long as they don't noticably start mating on screen, or start explaining vulgar or detailed parts of it, I think it's fine. Really, it's only bad if you interpret it that way.
