Also, I have no idea if this is common practice in NYC, it was my first time voting in the general election here. I would assume it's not.

Yea it seemed very suspicious but nothing ever came of it. I think the worker genuinely didn't intend to supress anyone's vote. I guess her thinking was...If there are issues with recording republican votes with booth 1, then she should move anyone voting republican to vote 2 to make sure that they were counted. She prob didn't realize immediately that it was a mistake to try and separate people voting republican. It didn't amount to anything in the end...the crowd pounced on her.

A worker at the poll asking people for republican votes to use a specific booth? Is this common practice in NYC? I'm not a NY resident, but here's what I see:

- No polling worker has the right to ask any voter what their voting intentions are, whether it be along a political party line or a particular candidate.

- This smacks of voting fraud; that other booth may be faulty; the pollster knows this & is a Democrat - they'll refer republican voters to this booth & it will lose their votes.
