  • im confused...why would she marry a gay man? if she got denied her marriage with her girlfriend?

  • @jonagotdeleted It's to point out that she's denied when trying to marry someone she's known for years upon years and lived with successfully, but is able to marry some random guy she just met.

  • I want to be Kitty Lambert when I grow up.

  • "pinkBFLO"

    I somehow don't think that guy's pink anymore . . .

  • taking it out on the wrong ppl

  • @FretArchitect I hope you die in a fire.

  • i believe in the buffalo we are her standing buffalo soldier angie b and mel t and sadb we are famous to say this

  • from mel tand angie b and sadb we believe in the buffalo and we are herestanding buffalo soldies we are frienda and we are real we arefamous

  • I LOVE this idea... I want to do this in my hometown. When is was illegal for a black and a white to marry, 2/3 of the nation was against it. The court stepped in and made it legal and now, it sounds absurd that a black & a white would not be able to wed. This will be the thinking of our posterity in 50 years. It will seem absurd that we felt certain people should be kept from marriage.

  • For Sinnerviewer -- I can see why you would love the idea of doing this in your own hometown!! :) I love this video! It exposes one of the many inconsistencies in this country of ours. I find that it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever that she can get a marriage license with someone of the opposite sex that she just met and yet not with her partner that she's been committed to for years. How crazy is that?? I really liked your comment by the way. Peace2U, Kim

  • To you. You're fucking stupid.

  • Excellent counter-argument! Fuck off you fucking bitch. Kill yourself

  • @StainofPiss69 What an illiterate person you are...Please do some research. Ask yourself, why does the gay community really fight for the right to marry? Next time you think to comment, dont.

  • @StainofPiss69 Dude...you're an idiot. People may be able to say 'Oh we're married' and wear rings and no one would ever know the difference, but it's an issue of LEGALITY. Like hospitals. If I was gay, I'd like to have my boyfriend/husband by my side as I lay dying in a hospital bed. I may be straight, but I'm not narrow.

  • I'm so sick of gay people acting like its the same as race... stop... its not the same... My grandfather was killed in a race riot... along with countless families... many many people have died due to the color of their sin... the life expectancy of a slave in the caribbean was 1 year... when we see in the history books the same level of intolerance then you can speak... until then stop comparing it. I'm not saying whether or not you deserve the right to marry just stop comparing it to slavery!

  • @smoothe14 and i meant race in the last sentence not slavery.

  • @smoothe14 Gay people have been outcasted, killed in riots and targeted by hate crimes too im not discrediting slavery but dont say they dont live their hell also. who is to say one human suffering is worse than the other? no human should have to deal with it. just like others they are also targeted for something they have no control over. you cant help how youre born

  • @smoothe14 It's the same thing. Please stop being a fucking retard and remove yourself from the gene pool.

  • No it's not the same thing. You can't tell who's gay just by looking (obviously there are flaming exceptions) but in terms of race it's obvious to everybody. Gays have rights in this country that blacks didn't DREAM of having 50 years ago, yet bitch like they are the straight peoples' servants or something. Fuck off with that shit. Gays can't make the argument that it's about rights, because civil unions give the same rights as a heterosexual marriage, just with a different title.

  • But not every state issues civil unions for homosexual couples either. How about you stop with your ignorance and stop looking at people like they don't deserve what you can have, which is a marriage.

  • Then every state should give civil unions. End of story

  • Psst! Your privilege is showing.

  • @smoothe14 Well your obviously forgetting that was sooo many years ago.. im sure if they knew you were gay back then you would be treated WORSE Dumb ass...but this is now who is treated better now? being gay im sure is worse in both then and now!

  • I don't suppose you've heard of Stonewall.

People were beaten and arrested and jailed by police for being gay only a few decades ago. Being gay was against the law in the US only a few decades ago. Being gay can get you killed NOW, in many countries, including the US.

If you bothered to look, you would see it.

  • Only because that's the way our (messed up) laws define it.

  • It is according to the laws of our great nation.

Knowing each other's names > twenty year committed relationship with matching genitals.

    Ain't it grand?

  • For jkeuwk -- It definitely isn't "grand". Its a shame...a shame!! That's what it is!! She can marry a man she just met, but she can't marry her partner that she's been committed to for years and years. This country has a long way to go in being fair that's for sure!! I give this video 5 stars!! It exposes the fact that many times this country of ours does things that make no sense! Peace2U, Kim

  • I have no objection to same-sex couples receiving equal rights in a separate institution.

  • Separate isn't equal.

  • @dwanollah

Our society and the federal judiciary is much more tolerant of separate but equal on the basis of gender than on the basis of race.

Read the decisions Minor v. Happersett, Rostker v. Goldberg, and Michael M. v. Superior Court. And think about if the Supreme Court would uphold analogous RACIAL discrimination.

  • @mejercit Just like setting aside a special water fountain for colored people, right?

  • @Blondiegrrl

Our society and the federal judiciary is much more tolerant of separate but equal on the basis of gender than on the basis of race.

  • Two fountains just means shorter lines for everybody.

  • StianofPiss, you are very aptly named.

  • You know what makes me sick? My various cousins who get married and crap out kids multiple times (and not nec. in that order). Let's vote to pass some laws! If you've been married twice by the time you're 22, have more than 3 kids by 2 different fathers, or met your intended on the Internet but never in person, no marriage for you!

  • Mmmmm who doesn't?!?!?! >:)

  • Exactly, thank you.

  • I believe Kitty just took the first step to sue the state for gender discrimination.

Gender discrimination is currently, discrimination based on sex is defined as adverse action against another person, that would not have occurred had the person been of another sex. This is considered a form of prejudice and is illegal.

  • @neenerpuss

The United States Supreme Court upheld discrimination in draft (Rostker v. Goldeberg) and statutory rape (Michael M. v. Superior Court) laws.

  • Thank you for this, Kitty Lambert. I just shared it on my Facebook page. This whole thing is so freaking disgusting - and illustrates the bizarre obsession with people's gender / sex [depending on state law]. I'm so sorry.

  • Darn, now everyone knows how brilliant Kitty is and she isn't Buffalo's best kept secret anymore. Kitty, keep the activism & videos coming, and would you puh-leeeze run for office?

  • It's a civil rights issue - not a fucking religious issue.

  • The key word you used there: "settle"

Why should someone have to settle because they're gay?

I totally hear what you are saying though, we are very much hung up on the words at the moment...Civil Union, Marriage - they serve the same purpose don't they?

Dude, I'm not gay - but I just think everyone should unite on this issue. Even my old school grandfather doesn't 'hate fags' anymore - society is changing and laws should reflect that!

  • @MissKimberley - they don't serve the same purpose. They are not identical in effect.

  • See, there you go - what's the difference?

  • @MissKimberley - Well, in some areas, the 'civl union' approach does not confer the same rights, such as adoption, inheritance, etc.

  • They're similar in legal terms, but different in connotation.

Here's an example: yummy and delicious (or pretty and gorgeous) mean the literally the same thing, but have different connotations to them. People give the words themselves greater meaning over other "equal" words.

Thus is marriage more powerful than civil union, and more important for equality to all.

  • Why does YOUR marriage have to be called marriage? Why not call it Smoked Trout? As long as I can have Smoked Trout too I don't give a fuck!

  • Our society and the federal judiciary holds gender discrimination to a lower level of scrutiny than racial discrimination.

  • @Timmybear - I did some reading after I asked you, I see what you mean - your civil union can mean absolutely nothing if you..say move to another state that doesn't recognise it. Crazy.

@nechromechwiz - that's exactly what I said just in a different way?! You're wrong anyway, see above note to Timmybear, he's right they do not serve the same purpose.

@mejercit - Hahahaha I don't think you meant to reply to me.

  • @MissKimberley Amen!

So glad this couple was able to get married as of today.

The religious right will never give up trying to control everyone's lives, Fundamentalist Christians have this inferiority complex of sorts where they want to rule everyone with an iron fist and make even non Christians live under biblical law.

Marriage isn't, nor was it ever a strictly religious issue... they are simply too ignorant to understand that.

  • @MissKimberley and for the record I hate to play the ignorance card, though at this point don't know how else to refer to those who are determined to control the lives of others and piss all over The Constitution in the process.

  • I love Kitty. She is the coolest person in the world, I have gone to protests with her - she's a bundle of joy :) Yah, that's right, I know her xP

  • Powah to the people!! XD

This is awesome. I admire them.

  • i have gained so much respect for Ed Manz, the boy who said he'd marry her. I see him at marcella's all the time, next time i'll hug him and say thank you so mucch for sticking up for such a great cause<3

  • Straight people can get married; homosexual people can't. That's your definition of equal rights? What impact does her marriage have on you? I'm not gay but reading your comment made me furious.

  • Comment removed

  • Why don't you think Gays should Marry?

And please don't bring up Religion or Children because Marriage and Children are two different things. There's plenty of Heterosexuals that get Married that have no desire to having children.

    So why?

  • OMG You found this video too! Go team!

  • YESS! <333

  • You must be a relative of the idiotic Canadian judge who ruled that the marriage laws were not discriminatory because a gay person could marry someone of the opposite sex whenever s/he wanted to. I always suspected s/he was the same judge who ruled that someone who was fired for being pregnant was not fired for sex discrimination because women don't get pregnant - people do. Sophistry in service of right-wing/exclusionist thought - *sigh*.

  • Thank you for your opinion. You, of course, have never had sex for selfish reasons. And, naturally, you don't know any gay men or lesbians with children who raise them with love. What a sad, stunted life you lead. By the way, if heterosexuality is so 'normal', why does it need all these ugly laws to defend itself? Darwin (but I suppose you don't believe in him either) would point out that an organism in need of THAT much protection would be selected OUT of the genetic pool. :)

  • i havent always been on the "right" side of gay rights, now I use the word "right" loosely because that all depends on your view point. Any how this video perfectly depicts how rediculous the arguments against gay marriage are especially the "sanctity" dumb shit. now to the people who think its just gross well 2 400 pound fatties goin at it is gross to me but does that mean they shouldnt be allowed to have sex? love is love. 28 straight male that believes all humans were created equal!

  • God this just makes me cry. These laws are so unstable and unfair. I hope I see them change in my lifetime.

  • dang, this is crazy.

  • Kitty is my new hero!! (Ed too) this was BRILLIANT! I applaud her dedication to showing just how fucking ridiculous these bigoted laws are in this country where we falsely claim everyone to be equal and have the right to pursue happiness & freedom...what a fucking joke!

  • Im a straight women and i refuse to marry until gay marriage is legalized everywhere. I dont wanna be apart of a club that leaves people out because they love someone.

  • We need more people like jojo!!!

  • @jojogurl94 Wow Thankyou so much!

  • well said jojogurl94. well said!

  • Thank you for your support of equality!

    Go, jojo. Go, jojo!!!

    <3

    :)

  • @jojogurl94 That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Ever.

  • @WhiskeySteel Okay. Thats great for you. I think you should have your own opinon. If you like to throw out insults please do spread ognorance just a little more. Real mature.

  • @jojogurl94 No ignorance there. Just you not being able to handle an indifference of your opinion. What if gay marriage was legal and I said "I'm getting divorced from my wife until they ban gay marriage again." You would echo my original post, standing behind your feelings. The ignorance that is being spread throughout this country is from gays, lesbians, and their supporters. There is NOTHING natural about two people of the same sex being attracted to each other.

  • Is there any 'heteosexual gene?'

    No?

Well then why ask for a homosexual one?

  • Posting hateful comments against LGBT people violates YouTube's Terms of Use. The best way to handle trolls is not to argue with them; they love the negative attention. All they have to support their side is things they make up in their heads, no facts ever change their minds. Instead, if a LOT of people thumbs down their comments and them mark them as spam they can be banned from YouTube. So if all of us do this right now, the haters will learn not to do this in our spaces.

  • @kiduk

She's simply trying to prove how "sacred" marriage is to NY citizens by proving how the state can quickly marry random strangers to each others just because they have opposite genitalia. And in my eyes, she's awesome for that! :)

  • Why did she marry a guy? Just to be listed as married? How is marrying the guy helping her?

I'm not bashing, these are honest questions, I'm confused. Anyone care to enlighten me?

  • Proves marriage is not a sacred, religious issues but instead simply a political legality. Why should it be limited to hetero couples?

  • she's just trying to prove that marriage is not really sacred, because they would let two completely hetero strangers get married, and not a devoted homosexual couple

  • @kiduk like the above people said, she married the guy simply to prove that while she can't get married to her partner, NY law states nothing about two strangers getting married so long as they are man and woman.

  • It is demonstrating how ridiculous the claim is that heterosexual marriage is always equivalent to sacred, committed marriage.

  • Go Buffalo (community- not goverment!)

  • Well thought out demo, Kitty! This is going viral.

  • Thank you. You're the best of Buffalo.

  • "For $40, I could give Ed my home, my health insurance, and we wouldnt even have to live together. And yet my partner has had cancer twice, I have heart issues, and were dealing with that. I cant protect the woman that I love, although I could die of a heart attack tomorrow and I could lose her to cancer over the next two years. And thats scary. "

--Kitty Lambert in an interview to The Advocate about this video

  • Wow, this makes me sad. This woman is leading a normal life with her partner, raising their children and grandchildren...your average family woman yet she is denied the right to marry the person she has been doing this all with for all these years purely for the fact that she is a the same gender?! Appalling. I am not gay and I'm not from the U.S but I feel very strongly on this issue...everyone deserves equal rights. It 's the 21st century, time to start living in it

  • @ n3rdbear: When I read your comments, I feel sick inside. It actually hurts to read the things you say. I was wondering, is that how you feel when you write that kind of stuff? Becuz I was going to leave this emotionally destructive message in retaliation of all the hatred I see you spewing everywhere. But then I noticed what was happening inside my heart. And I realized......I don't want to feel that way. I would rather be hurt by the things you say, than ever become someone......like you.

  • I'd let it go... people like n3rdbear just comment on this stuff to get people upset so we start arguing instead of trying to focus on the important stuff.

I'm also guessing he has a very small penis and needs a way to feel better about himself!

  • wow! how screwed up is our system. You can marry a random person, yet you cant marry someone you love.

  • That's not the point.

  • @sciences8 and you're an idiot :)

  • @sciences8 No, this was a brilliant way of doing it. She also said that she didn't blame the employee, that she was just following the law. But then she asked for a marriage license with Ed, showing that it's ridiculous that someone can marry someone they knew for five seconds, but can't marry their same sex partner for whom they've known a long time and love and care deeply for. Oh and the other thing, I can get married cuz I'm in Canada, but I'm just saying this woman should have rights too.

  • If it's legal in Canada, then it should be legal here.

My mother's Native American ancestors had same sex unions, before the white people came here. It's nothing new to the real Natives.

  • Okay, we won't live in houses, because that's not natural.

Lets not use cars, because those aren't natural.

Lets not commit to one partner for life, because that's not natural (it's a human value that has been created through religion)

Lets not wear clothes, because that's not natural.

Lets not use birth control, because that's not natural.

Who are YOU to decide what real love is?

  • BRILLIANT!

  • That was awesome - what a blatant showing of hypocrisy! The face you have had an ongoing, solid relationship, built a family, support your community - means absolutely nothing, yet a penis makes all the difference.

  • go ed!

  • How better to show how fucking ridiculous it is that 2 human, unrelated, legally aged people in love can't get married. Crazy

  • wow speachless, soo good

  • What a brilliant way of making a point about inequality...GREAT clip!!

    =)

  • @n3rdbear Git R Done! You must love nascar and incest and linchin' n*ggers! Bless yer heart...

  • Yeah, lets just make a bunch of gay people use same bathroom together. I'm sure that would REALLY get rid of sexual harassment.

  • Actually, yes I have heard of police reports about gays sexually harassing gays. However, I don't see them as often as I see a breeder sexually harassing someone.

  • @iloldirl BRAVO :)

  • @n3rdbear hmmm and somehow straight guys tend to only harass women and "fags". Which harasses more people, oh look straight guys lol. Go figure. And before you say its not ur fault we have such little testosterone, I actually had my doctor check my testosterone level, and guess what, this "fag" has a lot more testosterone than the average straight guy, so suck on that you homophobic prick :)

  • @n3rdbear haha you're silly. Let's see....you straight guys beat us up on the street, you call us names, you shove us into things. Oh and let's not forget killing us gay guys. You straight guys think the only way to prove your masculinity is by making fun of us. Dude that isn't going to prove it at all, all it does is make you insecure. Bigotry puts you down about 50 IQ points. Pity too, we'd have many bright people in the world if it weren't for such bigotry.

  • @n3rdbear Yawn, still not done with the fag comment? Last time a checked, that was last decade dude. At least get with the times lol.

  • @n3rdbear troll to? Haha that's even more lame than fag. And what's fagness? I'm curious. Btw, guys don't harass other guys in bathrooms, that's silly and again something in the 90's not now. If you think they're trying to harass you you obviously are the one harassing them lol.

  • @n3rdbear Is that suppose to mean something? I'm a bundle of twigs? How is that an insult, seriously, I don't get it :S

  • @n3rdbear

You cant seem to carry a constructive argument. When you dont like what the other person has to say, you simply use "fag" troll". Your mentality is that of a five 12 year old kid. Why are you even watching this video?

  • Props to that! I love it!
