I remember this episode. It's from the early '80's (specifically '83) but they continued to air it in the late '80's and early '90's as well.

He did took the READING RAINBOW crew to te set of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION. BTW - The Enterprise - is upside down. And the camera. Easier to film it flying.
