Now I'm cantering and doing 3'5 jumps (practice 2'9 before shows) Besides you did good for your first time. Sometimes I still have trouble mounting! I've been riding ever since I was 5. The horses I rode were Charlie, Foresight, Nattie, and Dazzle, and Star. I rode Dazzle for 2 years and Charlie for 2 years Nattie for 1 year and Foresight ever since now.. Good Job =D
it doesnt matter how high you jump as long as you can get the horse straight and get them over it!!! keep on riding and you'll soon be able to get the horses over bigger jmps ;)
I have only just seen this but that person taught/told you to get on the saddle wrong...you should put you right hang on the skirt on ther right side of the saddle not on the cantle...

@Thehorse3201 people can get better at things quicker than other people, it took me 5 years to get the confidence to canter but it took my mum 5 lessons. i can now jump after 8 years of riding, it took my mum 4 months to learn how to jump.
Everyone advances at there own speed. I know some people that have taken more than a year or two to begin jumping when others I know only have taken a few months. You just learn at your own speed. Don't be so rude just because other people advance a little faster.

if u are jumping that early then clearly you a missed a lot of basics. you can't deny that. any good instructor wouldn't allow you to jump until your horse is moving forward, balanced, yourself balanced, and that u can go into a frame ect ect.
the person might have learnt the basics quickly so therefore would be able to jump quicker... and lots of good instructers do this, there are hardly no bad ones because they all have to be qualified...
I'm not going to try and be mean. Don't worry I think I did a lot worse on my first lesson. Hey all you people being mean stuff your faces full off horse poo and like it!!!

that's so fun! I remember my first few riding lessons I felt all important :) my parents kept yelling "You look like a pro!" so I thought I was like this freakishly good rider or something. Now I look back at the home videos of me riding and I was terrible! Haha but you were really good for your first lesson :)
anyone who is interested in horses may also find the book "Horseback Riding for Dummies" useful. it explains how to find the best stable and instructor , to select riding gear to improve your balance and timing, to buy and take care of a horse etc

Yep u can ive bin ridin for 2 years and my first lesson i was ridin in jeans. And she might bot afford proper riding gear. Well done

i cantered on my first lesson (with a leader of course) and i was fine some people do it straight away and for others it takes time, thats just the way it goes

i am learning to canter right now. :) i love the horse i ride. shes a mare and her name is Boo. I JUST LOVE HERRRR!!!!!!! her full name is Booda. its adorable. i love her...i might post a video of me riding on her.....but first.......i need to learn how to,,,,LOL. if you guys could help me on how to record a video on my cell phoen or a real video camera.....then that would be wonderful!!!!!

if u are jumping that early then clearly you a missed a lot of basics. you can't deny that. any good instructor wouldn't allow you to jump until your horse is moving forward, balanced, yourself balanced, and that u can go into a frame ect ect.

the person might have learnt the basics quickly so therefore would be able to jump quicker... and lots of good instructers do this, there are hardly no bad ones because they all have to be qualified...

that's so fun! I remember my first few riding lessons I felt all important :) my parents kept yelling "You look like a pro!" so I thought I was like this freakishly good rider or something. Now I look back at the home videos of me riding and I was terrible! Haha but you were really good for your first lesson :)
