  • I already test it n' its a good idea, good job

  • What's with the lag?

  • Now im using sbp mobile shell 3.7 with my Nokia N8 it's awsome... i don't know why the new version (5.0) is too laggy in HTC try another mobile which can handle 3D and dual core cpu's will help alot. im hoping SPB developer will not stop making more updates in the future.

  • apparently it's not called 4.0 because in some Asian countries the number 4 is bad luck.

  • that's gotta be one of the worst presentations i've ever seen. don't get me wrong, i love SPB mobile shell but this presentation just killed part of my liking for it

  • LmfAo LLLAAgg 5.0 f..k

  • lag ....

  • this is not the spb 5.spb 5 is supposed to be made only for symbian and android

  • that's laggy somehow

  • @Yunero ur brain is laggy, its not the final version you asshole

  • @smelllybelllyjellly no need to insult

  • the carousel is ridiculously jerky... its a joke on a 1 GHz processor...

  • Is it me or this is lagging badly and of little parctical use?

  • pzdtc лагает

  • am i seeing this correctly? SPB mobile shell running on samsung jet s8000??? if so, somebody please point me somewhere where i can learn how to do this. google-search did nothing for me. all help greatly appreciated :-)

  • @carstenneugebauer its Omnia II (GT-i8000), not Jet :)

  • in caroussel it's laggy... And he has a htc hd2 with snap dragon (1000mzh). ...

  • meh...doesn't look so hot to me. the energy rom on my tilt 2 is still the best cell phone set up Ive seen. Just so nice to use.

  • When it will be released? I want that!!! I have a Nokia 5800, will it work?

  • @TheCamelFan I have 3.5 on my 5800, it's brilliant. I wouldn't use symbian without it now. it works fine- no slow down at all. I'm getting an android next and i still think i'll use it on that.

  • now downloads?

  • Alguien Sabe Cuando Saldra A La Venta???

  • I really like the new version 5, I like the way the carosel has that up an down tilt with the ability to 'preview' flips of photos. But the Magic ball for weather is what realy got my interest. I am buying this.

  • Well, this will be my last WM phone, as I really do not understand what MS think they can achieve by cloning the worst of the iPhone with WM7. It looks to me like a teenie entertainment phone now. I will switch to Android end of the year.

  • @Strassenflirt I'm running a HTC Hero with a custom 2.1 sense rom and never preferd a mobile device system so much as that from android, the open source system is not the only thing to count for my but the navigation between every thing is so easy and i could ALMOST advice it those grandpa's who never want to touch one, besides Google's own apps on the market make my mobile more pretty cause those are very functional (at least some of them)

  • You can't compare this application with HTC Sense, There are so many features that spb mobile shell has and HTC Sense not and they other way it is the same, both got great features and i prefer both. when i have to choose between those my choices will be very difficult to make. The work those developers from SPB did is very difficult the system is very complicated to make as the way they did but they did and i never found any bug. Indeed all versions are kind the same but you need to remind ...

  • ... that when you make the application again with a hole different layout all compatibility is lost and each developer from any skin need to be restart his work, this will make very much people furious, besides it won't inprove anything, those upgrade they do now are much better cause they bring new features, a new layout can you do yourself with a little practice cause spb support other UI's, i learned they basic i needed to know in around 3 days.

  • I must admid that since I flashed to the new HTC Sense + some addons (like Cookies Home Tab) I do not use Mobile Shell anymore, as it does not really have advantages. And Sense is really fast.

  • this interface still sucks cos its no better than the new HTC Sense Interface.....when will SPB come out with some really different from the last version....the clock and weather apps are still d same....WTH....im sticking to my Sense interface....whatever...HTC Rules

  • its nice..i have been using spb moil shell 3.5 for quite some time now n it is absolutely amazing...no wonder 5.0 will be a great improvement without a doubt..

  • I wonder why they are always showing the caroussel. I never use it.

  • @Strassenflirt I agree, never do I. Its cute and gimmicky though.

  • @Strassenflirt The caroussel might not be used very much but me as a developer myself can tell you the caroussel is and easy application to switch between your screen and the apps you saw like the 3D Weather and Earth. If you use it some more you will experience just as me that it really is something more as only some nice 3D screen

  • @soulbody15 What I REALLY would like to have is some kind of task switcher luike in other phones, where the current app kind of zooms out and then all running apps are shown in a kind of caroussel. I click on one and that one zooms in. No need for other screens, just running apps.

  • @Strassenflirt the caroussel is no task killer application, all apps you see are startlinks, they are linked to start the application not to check your running application, even windows mobile is developed and i sure you are able to find a nice kind of task killer for it, if you tell me which mobile device you have i can help you searching for a nice application

  • @soulbody15 I do not look for a task killer, but for a task switcher. :-)

I saw one on another system but I am not sure which one it was.

I use a HTC Touch HD reflashed to WM 6.5 and Sense 2.5. Together with Cooke Home Tabs the UI is nearly perfect. If you do not know this addon you should really try it, it makes Sense what it should be in the first place. Seeing that UIs like Sense can be improved so easily by an amateur developer I wonder why

HTC or even MS do not develop really good UIs.

  • @soulbody15 The carousel might be great to switch between apps and such but if I would use it I would like to have full control of what the carousel should display, when I have tried SPB shell it haven't allowed me to fully control this and that is something that needs to be changed.

I also think that the presenter on this video sucked... ok that could show things, but when asked is was uuuhmmm errrh Nooo No confidence in the product perhaps?

The chainfire patch had no effect on battery life on my HD2. Browsing and streaming videos are the main battery killers ;)

  • Naturally it's better than 3.5 but still... there looks like there can still be some Major work done on it. It should have been called 4.0... not 5.0 the upgrade doesn't appear so major to me.

  • i agree, and i hoped that they would polish the ui since the old one seemed kinda inconsistent (not to say ugly) and seriously, do we really need that stupid lagging 3d carousel? it's almos as useless as the cube menu on the omnia II...

  • @Conversed Its just laggy because of the phone's hardware...

  • @xellyia They left out v4 because the 4 is an unlucky number in asia. :-)

  • @xellyia i THINK they missed version 4 because it is known to be a unlucky number.

  • @xellyia well it is just a beta...

  • The camera man reminds me of annoyingorange

  • Just looks the same as 3.5 with added twitter! If it still has the same CRAP sms widget that does not integrate well with MW i will not be upgrading!

  • the hd2 doesn´t use it´s full 3d power by default. that´s a problem even in the current version of spb mobile shell.

installing a driver patch (chainfire 1.1) really helps and after the patching it works smooth and fast.

  • @visasp

Does this kill the battery life because battery sucks and doing this might make it worse,

  • the camera guy is really annoying

mobile shell 5 looks nice on first glance. hope it comes out soon.

  • cam man sucks......

I like the new one but it's kinda buggy.... Hope it is well fixed and and released soon......

  • hmm on omnia ll spb mobile shell looks difrent like on htc hd 2

on omnia ll looks like spb mobile shell 3.5.

when it will come out i mean spb mobile shell:D

  • 1:02 is the only interesting part of this video and it looked nice :P

  • maybe coz its prototype.. generally, i liked it.

  • hmmm...it looks a bit laggy in the 3D carousel :(

  • wont lag on an over clocked droid :)
