@AkatsukiArts oh yeah, my very first guitar was an "Epi" strat copy, very budget minded guitar, but all in all, a pretty quality guitar, considering i paid 100 bucks for it; great beginners guitar..at least mine was, i imagine it was made in the early to mid 90's, as i bought it in a pawn shop in '99.
wow man very nice great job! and dont let these asses on here tell u any diffrent. ill be post a few pics maby a vid of the one im making now u should check it out.
nice, I'd like to hear it! But im wondering....why did you go and leave it out in a hailstorm? Surface of the wood reminds me of hardwood floors where a few big dogs live, all pocked to hell. In any event, nice job!
@destructovision Thanks, it's the way of the grain when I hand sanded it down. I would play it, but I'd like to have a better amp, and better pickups really before I play it to do it some justice (Broke A**), but it does work, lol
I like the guitar shape of the body but the pick guard doesnt follow the form of the body. And scratch epi off there and put your name on it. You deserve it.
dude Nice!!!! you even put a whammy bar!!! totally not junk on all videos no one almost puts the whammy!!..just a question do you have to be experienced in carpentry and such?..idk anything about that and dont have tools since im still 16 to make but i have a book that teach you..and im thinkin on taking carpentry in school
Yeah I suggest taking the woodworking class. Not only does it give you knowledge about setting up jigs, safety, and tips and pointers about doing stuff the easy way; it also gives you access to various hand tools, band saw, table saw, router, scroll saws, planers, and if they were willing to shell out the money, the sandmax. Some tools aren't essential, but its so much easier, and you can put more quality into it.
It's actually a rather original design. It's mostly the strat pickguard that makes it look like a strat. I've never really seen a guitar with front cuts like those, or a pointy back end.
So kudos and all that. You gonna play it for us though?
Since the pick guard lays on top of it, i routed a huge rectangular shape in the middle, as well as holes for the bridge/whammy bar, output, and volume/tone knobs. If you watch 0:52 i routed the same holes on the body of my guitar. Woods I used was lacewood and padauk, and I simply coated it with a mixture of laquer and laq thinner to get the colors of the wood to stand out.
A woodworking router, and a straight line flush bit with the ball bearing on the bottom. Also the use of 3/4ths thick templates taped to the guitar body as a guide.
I got all the wood from my woodworking class, the wood wasn't very expensive 250 for all 5 pieces I glued to make the body. I got lucky and grabbed my friends unused padauk pieces off his project.
Well, to all the idiots who say stupid things here, this project surely beats the crap of making ashtrays and lamps in woodworking class...

A woodworking router, and a straight line flush bit with the ball bearing on the bottom. Also the use of 3/4ths thick templates taped to the guitar body as a guide.
