Would you highly recommend the Motor City Detroiter Pickups. How do you think those humbuckers would sound in an alder body rosewood fretboard strat? Are the versatile enough to go from Gov't Mule---RHCP---Hendrix?
The Motor City pickups worked perfect in this guitar, I tried Lollars, WCR's, Fralins, Scatterbranes, TONS of stuff, These were just perfect and I knew it the moment I plugged it in after I installed them. You know there are so many great pickup winders out there today, we have some many options, its great, but expensive. Erik from Crow Hill recently started winding his own pickups, after struggling to find the sounds he wanted from other manufacturers. I'm excited!!
I talked to Wade at Motor City Pickups today. Since I don't plan on playing Heavy Metal he suggested the Detroiters. I'll probabally put a matched set in an alder body strat with floyd rose temolo and rosewood fretboard. They are a bit of money, but if it sounds amazing it's worth it. I know Jimmy Herring uses Lollars or 59's. Are these pickups versatile enough to cover blues, jazz, classic rock, hard rock?
For sure, you can cover all those styles with the Detroiters. Also check out Wolfetones, the Dr. Vintage and Marshallhead pickups are great, thats what I have in my Crow Hill Hollowbody.
