oh never mind i found it :), if anyone is still wondering what it is, thats gnome global menu, it's standard on ubuntu netbook remix, but you can still install it on the desktop versions
Indeed I agree.I tried to play Wolfenstein Enemy Territory in Ubuntu 8.04 whilst running compiz fusion.I'd be lucky to get 4 fps on the lowest possible settings.
But I just went back to 9.04.
It was (My first time using Ubuntu, back 3-4 months)
You know,I had nothing to loose,installing/reinstalling wasn't a pain;I was used to it =D
It took like...one hour to get from 8.04 to a 9.04 completely working usable desktop.
Including Wine,Compiz Set up with every exact setting I wanted.
lol I need more than 1 day to configure my operating system the way I want it. I install it, update it, tweak it, install my programs, tweak them.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.04, OS X 10.6 Final (yay!) and Windows 7 Final on my Mac. That's a lot of work if I want to reinstall OSes. :-P
And I think even if we can use WINE for Windows programs and games... It's still better to have a Windows installation on another partition. Windows 7 is finally a good Windows IMHO. The former ones did definitely suck.
Gentoo is faaassssssttt! But too complicated for me. If you emerge a few programs you'll have to wait forever. lol -_- And I can imaging how unclean the system will be after unmerging some programs.
Why should the world use linux? Support is better than microsoft. Opensource means better application, can be vmwared, runs on basically any computer new or old, its free!, and last but not least, offers some of the best graphic enabled processes I have ever seen. Customization is great. And why buy a mac when you can make linux look like mac. Thanks!
@hitachi654 what games can mac run? checkers?

Anyone know the name of the song playing in the background or the wonderful paisley wallpaper seen when the desktops are being rotated?
xillver 2 years ago
Do a search for fractal images on Google, you'll probably find one like it there.

Yes,Windows 7 comes out great.
Vista was the BIG ass mistake of Microsoft
However,I'm not using much within Linux
Also, I dualboot XP and Linux,In my opinion XP is better than vista,in stability issues.
Much people say that windows 7 combines the stability of XP and the style of Vista.

Don't take it bad but I don't like Mac's
They are overpriced.I'd rather get a patched image of mac and install it on a desktop.
Ubuntu is as fun as Mac,and best, its free.
Also, you use Boot Camp for 7?
Nice Tri-Boot :-)
ThExR3V0LVER 2 years ago
Macs are overpriced, I agree. :) But I love the company and the computers are still powerful and beautiful. And the OS works like a charm. :)
And yes, using boot camp. I also have a hackintosh here. I use it as server for several things. FTP File server, Apache webserver and so on.
LanHikari90 2 years ago
Of course, the machine is made for Mac's only,it should run like a charm :D
also,I'd rather use a Linux for an ftp.
Although,Hackintosh isn't bad; No experience with it :-(
I'm also lookig forward on to Installing Gentoo.
