  • I commented ealier about your system when it was half the size. It certainly has grown, but isn't your system still a little underpowered? Also, you're using it as a back up electrical system, but in the mean time are you still feeding the grid with your Inverter? I'm not criticising, simply inquiring. I'm in the developing stages of setting up a system right now, and was hoping to get some insight about what "NOT" to do, as well as "WHAT to do."

    Thanks for your service Marine...

    DAUSARMY.

  • @Prancinglion1 It Runs Our Whole Household & does A Very Good Job We Have Lights TV Fridge ceiling Fans Etc Everything We Need Especially Now Since Has Gotten Alot Bigger Thank You to for your service Army Dog Hoowah

  • Kenny do you know anything about solar pv shingles? It is a viable alternative to solar panels for those who don't want the obtrusive appearance of the panels sticking out like a sore thumb on the roof?

  • @dogfan4lyfe I think They Are really Nice They should Work Great

  • Would there be much difference had you @4:38 wired them up in series rather then parallel?-(Forgive the n00b.)

  • @Alexplus20 Series Would Get Me 24 Volts Just Higher Voltage

  • Seems like a pretty good set up, but also expensive. I wonder if you should add more PV panels to better balance your system. I'm thinking the rechrage time with two panels might not be enough to keep up with your consumption during a power outage. With a 2000W inverter, you should be able to increase your PV array quite a bit. Thanks for sharing info about your system.

  • @Prancinglion1 This System Is when I first started Out You Sould See My System Now Buddy Thanks

  • A System Like This Would Run You about 3.500.00 Buddy

  • @kvusmc Thanks.

  • @sorandomitscrazy Anytime

  • How much did your system in this video cost? Im thinking about going off the grid, but I dont want something that is to expensive.

  • @sorandomitscrazy A System Like This Would Run You about 3.500.00 Buddy

  • @sorandomitscrazy A System Like This Would Run You about 3.500.00 Buddy

  • country boy cansurvive, how much have you added since 2010?

  • @onebigkahuna69 I have added Over 1350 Watts Since Then

  • You should build an RBMK 1000 power station for your house. You could sell the excess power back into the grid.

  • @TalksWithDirt Thats Sounds Awesome Buddy

  • @kvusmc :) Start collecting your pencil leads and don't make the same mistake the Russians did. The RBMK really needs to be under computer control. ... The Iranians and NORKS will buy all the waste plutonium.

  • huh ok.yoooooooo..call me 661 326 1604

  • @bakersfieldmusicnow Sounds Good Buddy

  • wow help me build one !

  • @bakersfieldmusicnow Just Give Me A Hollar Buddy

  • @bakersfieldmusicnow Just Give Me A Hollar Buddy

  • great setup, i will watch more of your video, looks like you give a lot of info, thanks

  • @iamsnake21 Thank You Sir Yeap Solar and Wind Power Is A Great Thing Well Worh The Money

  • shhh....

  • Thanks for sharing. I'm new at this so I copied as much as I could off your system. The only diffs are a Morningstar ProStar PS-30M, 12/24V Charge Controller, Sunforce 2500 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter, different batteries and a total of 4 Panels making it a 540 W. gross system. I'm in Pennsylvania so it'll never pay for itself in money saved, only in peace of mind and a bit of fun. Keep up the good work.

  • @Wilkinsburg1960 Any Time Buddy I have since Upgraded My System I have 1.330 Kw Plus 1kw Of Wind Power 2 500 Watt Wind Turbines Man It is Great I have an OutBack GTFX 2524 I have everything in 24 Volt Now Mine Paying Back quick Slowly But Surely I had Power Out for 8 days & Nights During after Hurricane Irene It worked Great

  • In the modern life it is very necessary to opt off the grid living. Living off the grid is not for everyone, although the off grid life contains elements everyone should strive for. We can't be sure how long our non-renewable resources will remain resources. So solar backup power system is great option. It leads to live off the grid.

  • @offthegrid25 Very Very True Thanks For Leaving A Comment

  • very nice video!!! i really want to try one of these systems on my house some day :)

  • @PBWillyWonka You Wont Regret It Buddy

  • I would add more solar panels and batteries, a fan motor in the battery box,A lot of money in the basic sytem just not enough incoming power or sored power. At least you got a plan in affect!

  • @troybrownrigg Check out my other Videos Buddy

  • THE INVERTER I INSTALLED HAS A BUILT IN 50 AMP 3 stage ac TO dc CHARGER, you have to put in the right plugs for the type of batteries your using

  • do not for get to install a 300 amp fuse at the battery, they only cost $17.00, if you do not, your asking for fun,, NOP, BIG TRUBLE

  • by the way the inverter I installed is 36 volt DC run 240 volt AC output, with 3/0 welding cable feeding from battery’s to inverter, and a 1/0 welding cable to earth ground, welding cable is by far better the standard auto cable, do not use cheap automotive lugs on the end of the cables, do not crimp them, use the solider inserts lugs, we wholesaler all that to dealers and jobbers

  • not long a go i intalled a 2500 walt inverter with a built in 15 second 7200 watt spick. i.e for when deep well pump, moter starts, no dimming of lights when moters start, or mic wave, great system, under 1000.00$

  • 2 things, you should not mix AGM batteries with your regular lead acid, i.e your old trolling moter battery, your inverter needs to be set for one, for right charging, 2 never mix old with new batterys we sell 125 Lbs 6 volt 300 aph each, so one give you well over all your batterys put to gether of your amp hours, you hook up 2 - 6 volt batterys to get 12 volt, or 4 for 24 volt, retail 300.00 each, very long life, as long as you look after them, 4 to 6 days running with out sun, with normal draw

  • Very Nice Work!!!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • i cant watch another video with snow on the ground , lol 4 more months it will be back in full force ,, nice panels btw im learning by watching

  • @KungFatty Hey Buddy Thats How I learned watching Videos on Here & learning It is awesome very addictive Going Green Bro

  • good idea but if there is a cme event the inverter box will be no good make it a maual sytem

  • A Ground wire is a must Buddy & Lightning protection

  • @kvusmc that and a fire extinguisher at the front door. With no ground wire you become the ground when you touch the unit. Ground everything always! I,ve used my fire extinguisher units several times, seems like I'm always saving some strangers car or something. Never had a solar panel fire or problem!

  • I've never seen anyone that uses a ground wire or mentions it.

  • Quick question, normally when the power goes out it's cloudy and stormy?

  • @sniper77shot Yeap But i still have power a Honda EU 2000 i Generator to charge batteries It burn 1 gallon in 15 hours

  • @kvusmc Ah, You should get one of those vertical wind generators that don't make the noise. That would be more efficient in bad weather.

  • @sniper77shot Mine dont Make any more Noise that what the wind does Hollowing through the trees

  • @kvusmc I believe these new ones can generate like 2 kw even in low wind conditions. You have a good system but if you placed a few of these in your backyard(You seem to have a large one) you could generate more than enough electricity to supply your house and make you off the grid, but stay on it just in case. Have some backup batteries and so forth in your large shop, heck you could build the batteries in a small cement area underground. But nice system.

  • @sniper77shot Im using 6 AGM 12 volt 90 Amp Hour Batteries In 24 volt Yeap I have 2.330 Kw Now thats is enough for awhile Buddy LOL

  • @kvusmc Ah, thats good.

  • @sniper77shot Just saw another one of your videos and I guess you have a windmill but the vertical ones I think are the same size but generate like 2 kws.

  • @sniper77shot that's why I also have a windy nation model 750 wind mill. when the clouds roll in solar panels output drop 95% to almost nothing. I turn off the system during storms, after the storm when the power is out I turn it on! I've got 2400 amp hours at 12vdc, with plans to go to 4800 amp hours!

  • you are awesome!

  • @sdwatt57 Thanks Bro

  • how long does your generator take to charge your bank of batteries. Do you use a battery charger that is plugged into the generator and then you use the clips or positive and negative clips and connect it to to the first battery and does it charge the entire bank. I am in just starting out as to getting solar and wind and gas generator as back up.

  • @HappyEndingsRescue My Inverter The Magnum MS 2012 Has a Built in Charger Just Plug in the Generator & that it Buddy The same with My New Outback

  • Good basics - where did you take your ground wire to?

  • @dieselplow The ground wire goes to all my eguipment then last outsoge to a ground stake

  • how much this system cost ya i am thinking to do this nice setup

  • @PAKISRULEZ a few grand Buddy

  • Real nice set up. Thx for the video

  • @katz217 No problem Buddy Your welcome

  • Hey i finally found a job. so now i can save to have a cabin with this alternative power. Can someone please please give me an exact shopping list of everything to buy to run a tv, xbox360, computer, 2 lights, and alarm clock. I have had a hell of a time trying to caculate what exactly i need to run all of this. having major problems here. thanks.

  • @akkkkll contact this store Buddy The Alt E Store can help you out Buddy

  • @kvusmc thank you my man

  • @akkkkll Yeap Buddy They Helped Me Out talk to Bramley Munz Tell Him Kenny sent You Take care Buddy

  • What an amazing system and you are to be commended for researching and investing in a system like this! Great and informative video too. Thanks! Learned a ton in just a few minutes.

  • @renovatedride Your welcome Buddy I have added since Then write me anytime

  • I was hunting for Magnum energy Utubes and came across yours. I have an existing 4000 watt solar grid tie system that I am upgrading to a battery back up using the Magnum Energy 4048 (4000 watt 48 volt) battery back up. The Magnum inverter needs to be programmed to the type of system you have i.e. Lead Acid, AGM, etc.

also what charging profile for Bulk and float charge based upon the battery tolerances...once that is done...you are good to go.

    Thanks for the video

  • @avianphlu5397 I have a 12 volt system with AGM Batteries at 450 amp Hours My tolerances in My Batteries are set at 11.5 to voltage shut off to 14.6 Volts fully charged anymore question Hollar at Me I think the Magnum Inverters are By far the Best on the Market

  • Nice set-up...Can you program that inverter/charger for the type of batteries..the charge rate, the float rate and all that good stuff?

    Thanks !!

  • @midway27272727 Everything you Mention and More you can program it

  • I like the way you say, "Oh yeah!" when you look at the solar panels. LOL!

  • @nomoreremakes Thanks Buddy LOL

  • Thanks so Much OBX

  • Great system. Its nice to see a slolar setup with wire and breakers done right. WELL DONE!!

    CHEERS OBX NC.

  • hey bud, a very good grounding system, a lot of people miss that.. thanks

  • @ditmar11I definitley wanted it grounded right just going by the book Buddy thanks for the compliment

  • that right there's a perty shed y'all

  • Hi. Good job on the system. One thing, the way you wired the batteries. Did you come off the closest negative and the furthest positive? If you didn't, system won't operate properly and it will ruin your batteries. Can't tell if you did in the video. Also, you should be using at least 2/0 copper on your battery cables, which is good for 125 amps. Is that what battery disconnect is rated?

Magnum inverter is good choice, and nice job on grounding, lightning protection.

  • @svenssonsk Thanks for the Info Buddy Im running 250 amp disconnect Box I love the Magnum sine inverter

  • @svenssonsk Im running my batteries in parralell I went switch them like you said thanks for the info on the battery cables positive the furthest & the negative to the closest Thanks again Kenny /kvusmc

  • Good system,

Have you ever run your house/shop on the inverter after a full battery charge to find out how long a full charge will last? have you ever heard of Missouri Wind and Solar? they are a DIY shop where you can build a Permanent Magnet Alternator from a Delco 10SI Rebuild. I've built one up from where in a 10mph wind It puts out close to 5 amps in that little a wind. M Wa& S have tons of DIY videos on youtube. Could be a good 2nd turbine. Great system Brother !!

  • Yes I am Familiar with Missouri wind and Solar Great store & Jeff gave me a lot of Help getting Me set up ! I love this Aternative energy stuff Buddy Thanks on the compliments

  • Great job! Trying to get my family off the grid. Can you give a break down of what these items cost?

    Thanks

    Dan

  • 1600 for inverter

    900 for panels

    120 for panel mount

    200 for solar charge controller

    800 for batteries

    500 misc cables breakers etc

  • Love what your doing for the environment...keep on truckin'!!!!

  • Thanks Im just getting started I Love aternative energy Thanks for the compliment

  • Thanks! Cool!

  • Your welcome Brother glad you like them !

  • nice set up i have a small one (1500 inverter 4 lawn mower battery 300 cca's and a northern tool 60 solar panel system)

PS where do you get your tobacco seeds and what do you use it for?

  • sorry yall about my Brain cramp with the Generator LOL
