  • Tyler and odd future aint shit fools

  • thumbs up if tyler sent u hear

  • thumbs up if odd future sent u hear

  • this shit is so punk rock

  • What set Roky and the Elevators apart from crowd........that damn electrified jug!!! Who the hell was playing an electrified jug...before or after the Elevators? None....I rest my case.

  • Better than Van - no way. They started playing this after Bryan's Blokes played it in Austin in the 60's. The Blokes played it at a sane pace. I saw the Blokes play a reunion in Houston in Oct. 2011. All the original guys. Check them out on Youtube at Bohemeos. Cool band. I also loved the Austin band the Baby Cakes in the late 60's. Roky is still kickin'.

  • 240 rpm

  • Good Memories

  • does anyone know where to find live footage? and im not talking about roky lip synching.... i mean real preformance footage? if so, please, please send me a message! i have audio from a live show, and it is incredible! now i just need to find the video!

  • Great version!!!!!

    Greetings from Italy

  • amazing stuff...used to listen to the transistor radio under the covers praying the batteries would last..great stuff from wolfman jack or a station in salt lake city...excellent! it is good. thanks a bunch!

  • Haven't read all the comments so sorry if this is a repeat. You can see the jug in the photo above. That jug with the mike was how he created the flying saucer sound. At least that's what I always thought it was when I was listening stoned. I've never heard anyone do that sound but the Elevators. Love the thundering bass too.

  • Mr. Stacy Sutherland is one of the most underrated guitarists out there! His playing still gives me chills, no matter how many times I listen to him.

  • rockabilly? hardly...texas rock and roll!!!

  • Sounds like New Wave.

  • Love his voice. Super raunchy

  • Family Guy is based off of the 13th Floor Elevator's Verve

  • I agree. The best Gloria Ever!!! A little Rockabilly thrown in too!!!

  • This sounds like some underground shit he found out in the jail. Some weird cop formation shit. They don't even give a fuck who stays or goes. It has nothing to do with what is right or wrong.

  • The electric jug should have been in every song... ever.

  • @Sydwayman Forget more cowbell! More jug!

  • Pure gold.

It's rock 'n' roll, that's what it is.

  • actually my new favorite floors song

  • really great

  • TURN UP THE JUG!!!!!!

  • ugh his voice is just so..so AWESOME

  • Great example of the early psychodelic rock. Thanks for uploading!

  • Good old-fashioned, unpretenious Rock-and-Roll. Can't be beat.

    Thank you for posting!

  • best one is many of them to be certain & this is included I reckon.

check out "you're gonna miss me" by these guys though as it's better than this & it's there own baby.thanks for the upload.

  • best gloria is by the doors the slow one in the matrix

  • anybody know any good programs to reverse songs i'm trying to see if they got any backmasked messages i'm convinced they'd would have put some in any elevators fans out there that can help

  • @HypnoParrot you want help with the messages in 13th floor music?

  • Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.

Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll.

  • Later, this guy becomes one of the greatest leaders in punk. I love Roky Erikson.

  • fuckin-A

  • Van Morrison wrote this whilst in Them and it was released as a B-side to 'Baby Please Don't Go' in 1964...Goodness knows how many covers of it have been done since then tho'...

    Thanks for uploading this..love it!

  • The shadows of Knight did it first, the way you can tell if their version is on your radio is you do not hear a organ playing like in the Them version that came up just a few months or a year later and became the best known version of them all...

  • If you guys want to hear an amazing version of this song, check out the one that Jimi Hendrix did!

  • the wheels did it before them

  • There are very few if any real live recordings of the Elevators. Where is this from, it's fantastic

  • @LemmyX777 It's from the boxed set, Sign of the 3 Eyed Men. Also a poorer fidelity recording called Paradise Lost. Lots of great live stuff in the boxed et.

  • @Upstreamprovider cheers Brother I shall look out for it online

  • @LemmyX777 'the psychedelic sounds of ' 2005 reissue has this and other bonus tracks. maybe it's easier to find online

  • @FillTheGaps Thanks buddy, must be on the later release as it's not on my copy. I shall look out for it

  • no, van morrison did

  • @juddithmaddox85 "Them" is Van's band....

  • wow i thought the DOors wrote this song...

  • @syrensounds it originally was performed by "Them"

  • vintagezigg'- respect to the elevators but have u heard the patti smith extended version of gloria- think she owned this song!!

  • @mjaysee Yes, I've heard Patti do it many times at live shows, and she's magnificent, and there's Jimi' and Jim's versions and Them, and the Shadows of Knight, which was the first time I ever heard it as teen in the 60s. I love em' all. It's just One of The Greatest Songs of All Time ! I just love Roky. God Bless Him ! He's a good man, and he's getting healthier every day.

  • they were waaay ahead of curve!

  • i agree this is the best ever i have heard

though i am looking to refind an lp i had abt twenty some years ago of the 60's Texas band the Wig Live at the Jade Room doing this--

    absolutely awesome version, too!

  • The BEST Gloria Ever ! Sorry Van, You're still "THE MAN " But Roky owns this one.
