«MJ recalls his visit in Ebony Magazine, 1992: "When we came off the plane we were greeted by a long line of African dancers. Their drums and sounds filled the air with rhythm. I was going crazy, I was screaming, "All right! They got the rhythm... This is it. This is where I come from. The origin."'» It was in Gabon Central Africa. Nobody wanted to go back school and every students was waiting MJ by dancing, singing and playing traditional musics instruments on a long line. Just watch images.
His first stop to Gabon was greeted with a sizable and enthusiastic reception of more than 100,000 people, some of them carrying signs that read, "Welcome Home Michael."[108] In his trip to Côte d'Ivoire, Jackson was crowned "King Sani" by a tribal chief.[108] He then thanked the dignitaries in French and English, signed official documents formalizing his kingship and sat on a golden throne while presiding over ceremonial dances.
King of Pop, hell! More like King of the World! That man couldn't go anywhere without being recognized-not even the remote part of the earth! His music, dancing, passion, and caring reached masses all over the world, and he rubbed shoulders with heads of state everywhere! He was even good friends with Donald Trump and the Sultan of Brunei!
Funny how us Americans said he wasn't proud to be black (not me but I am American so.....well you know) yet he was received so warmly in Africa even when his skin was going through the vitiligo caused de-pigmentation process. But if he came to my neighborhood I would've invited him into my house for hot tea and a nice chat lol. People would ask me why and I'd say " I reward awesomeness."
Such a wonderful video, MJ had a very great meeting in Africa, everything is so colorful, people are dancing, i mean measses of people, i mean its huge! Cool xxx
"This is it. This is where I come from. The origin."' Beautiful, and its truth. We all came from this beautiful land, Africa. I'm glad MJ loved our culture back home. Does anybody know if he visited Ethiopia? I couldn't tell from the footage. Thanks.
Their drums and sounds filled the air with rhythm. I was going crazy, I was screaming, "All right! They got the rhythm... This is it. This is where I come from. The origin."'
xXxMJ4LIFExXx ...MJ is from West Africa, Originaly the east coast Of Ivory Coast named Krindjabo kingdom (in the region of actual Abengourou) where he was erected King on his last visit in 1992.
I'm glad Michael visited Africa and all, I like the fact that he, unlike other african americans, never denied his roots.
however, i didn't like how the police were like violently restraining people, basically beating them, from going near him.
my family come from sierra leone, i've been there three times now, and the police always treat foreigners (that is, people from the UK or USA) better than their own people, which isn't right.
It's a shame the popo there mistreating their own people. Of course MJ's trip to Africa got little or no coverage from American media but is that unusual? By the way not all AA's deny their roots I am and certainly don't and neither do others I know. We were all brainwashed and it's going to take a long time to undo that.
@truthulsetufree I totally agree with you. I am also a Black American and I don't know any others that deny their roots from Africa. As a matter of fact, I hear most Blacks say they want to know where they are from and find their people in Africa. What I do hear blacks say is that they aren't African, they are Americans because this is home for a lot of them. They aren't denying African roots. We all have roots from somewhere. America is simply our home.
michael is the shyt, and he is so proud to be black, but he is about unity and love, because we are all the same regardless of skin color, we are human beings, created in God's image. im black, but like our lovely michael, i too am color blind. i have always wanted to go to the motherland, so michael, if your in africa, im coming to see you!!! i love you.
Gabon is in West Africa. Michael Jackson helped all over the world. Including his motherland, Africa. Who says he hated being black? Get your facts right haters!!!!!!!
MJJ God is on your side!!!!!! May you rest in peace!!!!! No more hate, no more tabloids, no more hateful media! GOD Loves you Michael. You have done your job, good and faithful servant of God! Your crown is waiting for you in heaven! GOD always has the last say!!!!!!! RIP MJJ!!!!! Jesus was rejected by his own people; we shouldn't be surprised when the whole world sees MJ for who he truly was, but his homeland, USA! It is a very very sad story!!!!!
Michael had depth to him even as a boy. I remember when he first sang with his brothers, they were great. He was a phenomenon then and he became even greater as he grew up. Michael was a genius! We his fans will always love him because we saw his heart and it was big and full of love. He never hurt anyone no matter what they did or said regarding him
Un ser humano que realmente fue un embajador de la paz de los Estados Unidos fue Michael Jackson sin embargo fue muy mal tratado y sometido al escarnio público , no mereció eso . RIP cumpliste tu misión angel
the other country in Africa is Ivory Coast another French speaking country where he was crowned prince because they thought that he maybe has some origins there. Michael Liked Africa a lot. He did not reject his African roots
This in Africa in Gabon.Michael went there I was just a child. Gabon is in West Africa in central Africa. He came it was 12.00 something like this. The town which is Libreville (Freetown in French) was full of people moving everywhere. He threw a rose to a girl
Nothing changed. MJ never became a freak. he was always the same kind, loving and generous man that he always was. The media made him out to be a freak. he is NOT a freak. If you're an MJ fan, then become my friend and leave a comment on my profile! Thnks!
We call for Michaels vindication by MAINSTREAM MEDIA. MJ was acquitted by a jury in 2005. Not good enough. For his childrens sake, mainstream media must become more responsible. We discuss how truth can compel mainstream media to publicly admit it wrongly accused MJ of despicable crimes. Many people still believe MJ was guilty. They were influenced to believe the allegations by a biased MAINSTREAM MEDIA. No links allowed here so search at Yahoo Groups for "vindication better than tributes."
That's the kind of love MJ wanted, not the platonic one (smiling to his face and stabbing him on his back) he was the victim of an inexplicable hatred in his own country, allow me to say it. If in USA, they seem to ignore what happened to MJ, the rest of the world knows what's going on there. The US is a champion of hypocrisy, jealousy, racism blacks might know it better. I'm so amuzed how they like to talk about God when they are guilty of all the bad things.
You are so right. Since michael passed, our local newspaper never post any negative news about him. On the 1st week, 4 big pages all about michael's charities works and picture with him and children all around the world, yearly basis achievement in his career and so on. In fact, NO ONE believe those accusation and silly tabloids because its too much for a person. A fact and sad article by a journalist - Michael was wounded from head to toe. The media here have high respect to michael.
that is good to hear :) there's a lesson from this too!! any negative tabloids and negative news.... who cares about it? :) focus on the good; let's not focus on what we can potentially hate. hate is unreasonable.
Everybody talked positive when Michael Jackson passed...Except for "FOX NEWS" the WHITE POWER network. All the did was say negative BS ...and called him JACKO but then FOX turns around and praises that REDNECK BIMBO Palin! FUCK FOX NEWS! no offense to the normal educated whites that don't follow the HATRED of FOX NEWS and RUSH LIMBAUGH etc......
This world cry for you and miss so much too. You were, you are, you will be our light. We will listen your smooth voice, we will relief our pain seeing your beautiful face. Media almost never mentioned the good things about MJ - that's show bizness - they need to make some show, they need a scandal , sensentionalisme . That's all. He was such a sweet person ...
Yeah, he once said that when he felt the drums and the saw the people he new he was home. He was crowned, I believe, King in waiting in a village and after his death the village petitioned the family to release his body to them so that they may give him his proper burial. Their mourning period ended on July 25.
Why doesn't the media show this more? Whenever they show his fans, they always show the White and Asian crowds, like MJ didn't like Black people. I'm 15 and didn't even know that he went to Africa, let alone loved it! F THE PRESS! MJ'S THE BEST!
It was a pleasure seeing Michael being greeted with, "Welcome Home" and wrapped in the traditional garb. It looked like he had his own stool as well. Go Michael. Thanx for sharing your gift from the Creator with us.
So many failed to find the special gift that God gave them, and opted instead to take your kindness for weakness. You're now safe. RIP
Those words were heartwarming the first time I visited Africa as well.
WOW. Michael Jackson's version of Come Together KILLS Paul McCartney's DEAD. I never heard this version before! Thanks for including it in your video!
@tamagotchiboy002 Are you stupid? Or are you just playing devils advocate? The conversation wasn't about MJ. It was about his former bodyguard Bill Bray.
The government was getting to worry about how michael had the power and gift to use love all over the world to bring world peace and healing to this planet, and the government dont want that but evil and misery on this planet...So they killed michael thru the one thing he loves, CHILDREN!!...I cant wait for justice to prevail these fuckers
Great video! Michael is loved by many all over the world. I really enjoyed watching the dances some of the African's were doing. I would love to visit there someday.
I don't believe the hype. I love Michael so much and him being viewed as a pedophile couldn't be farther from the truth. I also think it's a total fabrication that people say Michael didn't want to be black when he visits Africa more than any other place/country (besides Japan). The sign says it all, "Welcome Home Michael". People are so blinded from the truth because they don't know Michael at all. I love you so much Michael.
What the hell happened at 1:00 that light skinned girl gets attacked by someone grabbing her hair. take another look. No wonder the video cuts at that point.
Michael is such a loving wonderful person. He represents all that is good in the world. Everyone freaks out when he is with children but he does not think of children in a sexual way. He sees nothing wrong with sleeping with them (as in sleeping, not having sex) because it is an act of love but nobody else can understand that because in today's society you can't show love without it being assumed that you have sexual intentions.
I agree with u, I can't say for sure he was innocent of all his accusations, but I always believed he was innocent. I think that he had a quality about him that made it so easy for people to take advantage of him. I hope that Michael knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour, so that he may now finally rest in peace. The last few years of his life was filled with so much suffering and hardships. A human heart can only take so much hurt, his heart had enough. Hope to see u in heaven Mike RIP
MJ converted to Islam prior to his death... The fact of the matter is that it really doesn't matter what ones beliefs are that makes a difference after leaving earth... It's ones actions! MJ has fed millions; brought hope, joy and love to millions more! He also knocked down walls and built bridges between ALL races, creeds, cultures and ages! He embodied the very element of the Christ conciousness! Only a very few has come close to BEing so Christlike! He has his sequenced wings and peace now!
I love watching these clips of his trip to Africa. But do you have the full video at all?

It was a pleasure seeing Michael being greeted with, "Welcome Home" and wrapped in the traditional garb. It looked like he had his own stool as well. Go Michael. Thanx for sharing your gift from the Creator with us.
So many failed to find the special gift that God gave them, and opted instead to take your kindness for weakness. You're now safe. RIP
Those words were heartwarming the first time I visited Africa as well.

@tamagotchiboy002 Are you stupid? Or are you just playing devils advocate? The conversation wasn't about MJ. It was about his former bodyguard Bill Bray.

I truly love this man michael jackson...
The government was getting to worry about how michael had the power and gift to use love all over the world to bring world peace and healing to this planet, and the government dont want that but evil and misery on this planet...So they killed michael thru the one thing he loves, CHILDREN!!...I cant wait for justice to prevail these fuckers

I love Michael :)

i agree with you.
