  • I was sailor, in FRENCH MARINE, in a ancient GERMAN UBOAT , caugth after the WW2, it goes perfectlly in 1970, there was a delixious boat really !!!

  • Excellent narration-to bad it's so short.

  • *LOOK'S AT PLASTIC U-BOAT MODEL*

    *LOOK'S AT SCREEN*

    China made it smaller //shot

  • dont worry they are no longer the last of the last U boat. In Colombian they are copying the U boat with better range

  • Churchill was,as so often, talking through the back of his neck!He was prepared,he said,to take 50% casualties on the convoys! But note:he was at home, deep underground and his knowledge and command of naval warfare was virtually zero.

  • @Squarerig That goes for land warfare too. When Allenbrooke was asked why he refused command of the 8th Army the greatest military job at the time he said; "It will take my successor 6 months to learn how Winston thinks and he could do a lot of damage in that time. Air Marshall Park who won the Battle of Britain said "Churchill called at my headquarters to see what was going on but I was lucky, he thought he was a great General & Admiral but he knew nothing about the air so he left me alone"

  • what a heap,i never liked the uboats, they were always some primative P.O.S................The Detroit Diesel blows that crap motor away,oh yeah that was the japanese it defeated

  • English German and American operated subs during that time. Very Brave men indeed.

  • cool vid...

  • I guess its ironic that all the terror german submarines caused came back to them later on in war. 80% death rate of submarines, thats terrible.

Just imagining being inside of submarine when it is sinking is terrifying, and the terror lasted for a while, until submarine fully flooded and everyone drowned, thats at least 5-10 minutes of painful, horrible death.

Plus fish get to... finish off your bodies. Think about how cold and dark deep ocean is, BRRRRR. lord save me from this.

  • @MrDonetsk777 painfull indeed, I intend to join armed forces next year, always have, but damned if I will get in a submarine!

  • @MrDonetsk777 your dead wtf it matters if you in cold ocean or in some casket you would not know the diffrence and when a submarine gets hit underwater because of the pressure most subs explode so the crew inside die rather very fast.

  • @MrDonetsk777 The lucky ones were instantly killed instantly from torpedo or depth charge. But out in the open ocean, the few minutes of dying was climaxed by an implosion when the submarine finally went below the design depth of the submarine, and sea pressure crushed the ship. Instant nirvana!

  • "armed coffins"

I never heard a more accuratedecription of a Uboot.

  • @conoba I think he says Iron Coffins. But armed or armoured would be just as accurate.

  • type gift before youtube in the url then press enter

  • My God, could you imagine the hell those submariners lived through? I can't.

  • Thats the U 995 for those who want to know more about it.

  • Amazing machine. Frightening casualty rate. Men and boys at war are brave indeed.

  • Why do people mention God when things go their way but never do when things go wrong for them in the first place?

  • i feel bad for all young German boys who died in one of the worst ways to do so.....

  • It did took terrible losses cause u-boats were surface ships with some ability to submerge. Only later came elektro boat, Type XXIII u-boat, first REAL submarine.

  • I think that was ONE of the reasons; The other, IMHO was the prevailing lack of preparedness for combat duty among the fresh Commanders later in the war(the Germans had the same problem with Luftwaffe; their equipment was state of the art but lacked experienced pilots to make a good use of it): I mean-they put guys as young as 20, straight from the high school in command of a crew of 50... Atop of that, even experienced submariners(Doenitz included)commited a grave mistake-most of them not...

  • even being aware of the fact; and they were making the same 'ol mistake up till the end of the war: Namely-THE RADIO SILENCE; AFAIK The only commander fully aware of the consequences of superfluous(and, in most cases, encrypted at that!)traffic was Otto Kretschmer; And that was the beginning of the war! When U-Boats were victorious!

Despite readily available academic-grade literature dealing with Huff-Duff and the quite-obvious risk of compromising the Enigma cipher by providing the enemy...

  • with free, real-life samples of code to analyse-Doenitz required his men to report many times a day(the Boat's position, status and weather were to be reported)and ironically-the worse the war went the more frequent reports he requested(!). Had Kretschmer not been captured/killed before 1943, when the problem surged-perhaps his wisdom would have caught more attention of the BdU and tactics would have been altered accordingly...

  • And as far as the U-Boats' obsolescence is concerned: It's true that(as of 1945) the Elektro-boote outclassed everything that sailed the wide seven seas; But we have to keep in mind that the "classic" Boats-Types VII and IX were also best in the world in their respective classes; and I believe that had these boats pushed a little bit harder, using proper tactics to maximalize their advantages-the UK would have been knocked out of the bout by the turn of '42.

  • Huge amount of subs were sunk by planes when on surface (more powerful radar and air support radius as cause) , they had to stay underwater most of the time where those part-time submarines weren't very good. I believe that's the one main reason of huge losses they did suffer. They were effectively crippled...

  • I'll take a Fleetboat over a Uboat anytime.

  • I like the German Types IX(when speaking about WWII subs)most fo all; They gave you the best of both worlds; A large torpedo cache, long range, high surface speed and resistance to damage of the US FleetSubs AND deep diving (up to 230m), superb German hydrophone system and wakeless electric torpedoes of the WorkHorse(Type VII)...

  • (The german Type XXI was intentionally excluded from my considerations, since it was not fully operational before the war concluded; and would have been plagued by teething problems and high production costs had it been forcibly pushed into service anyway; Both Gato class and the type IX were proven and relatively cheap designs in those days)

  • I wonder about the impact would have the Type IX had, had it become the most common U-Boat of teh Kriegsmarine with the production of Type VIIs being terminated at the outbreak of the war and all resources redirected to the Type IX production effort. After all The VII type was designed strictly to circumvent the Versailles treaty and connected agreements which forbade the Germans to have more tons of subs than the Britsh; so they devised small VII subs to gain numerical advantage...

  • With the outbreak of the war-all those treaties were nullified... SO the Germans could build as many and as large U-boats as they only can afford. Now consider this: Type VII carries 14 torpedoes; the type IX-22! It's also faster so it can catch up with a convoy with less a risk of it zig-zaging out of reach. Once a type IX found a convoy-it could have shoot most of its torpedoes into at the merchants, still leaving some for self-defense or perhaps even warship-offensive actions;

  • And unlike the VII(which generally returned home after firing two volleys of torpedoes)-it could have shadowed and attacked a convoy for several cosecutive nights-causing both greater damage and plotting a much more accurate approximation of the trajectory of the convoy for other boats to follow.

I think this is a case of synergy-although on paper two VIIs are better than a single IX-the reality of tactical scenarios would have proven to the contrary... What do you think?

  • No kidding. You see that Shamwow commercial? German made baby. Them things can absorb like nobody's business!

  • AHHH, German technology, none better and often copied.

  • I know i might seem stupid , but whats the difference between a u-boat and a submarine?

  • it is not a stupid question :) a u-boat is name of a German submarines during WW1 and WW2, and sometimes after :D

  • Sorry norky 722 feet and 820 feet respectively.

  • The movie Das Boot is based on U96,a typeVIIC u boat. This type could go to a depth of 722 metres, the typeVIIC/41 could go to 820 metres it had a better hull pressure.

  • Hmm, i think its more like 200 metres mate.

  • They removed the hatches between the sections and layed a new softer floor in that boat.

Therefore, its not really original anymore.

  • The battle of the Atlantic was faught againsed u-boats and it was the longest campaign in ww2 it lasted from september 1939 untill the germans surrendered in May 1945.

If the war lasted another 6 months we would have probably lost because the jerrys were about put a new u-boat into action that would would be able to stay submerged for longer and could out run british and american destroyers.

  • it could stay under water longer but it couldnt outrun a fletcher class those things can go like 45 MPH it could go like 20 underwater compared to the older U-boats 9 underwater

  • Sorry, Forgotten, but you are wrong. The new types of U-boats could haven´t changed the end of the war: not enough in number, with docks and bases under bombing attacks almost every day, no time for crew`s training, few possibilities of ressuplying, etc. All experts, both in WWII and in submarine warfare and technology, agree that at that point the war was lost to the germans, and six more months of the new U-Boots should have been just more losses in both bands.

  • no forgotten, they still would have lost.

The Americans and british were already invading Germany, with Soviet Union coming in from the east.

IF they put the XXI U-boat (Capable of 17 Kts underwater, and the precursor to nuclear submarines) were made in 1940, then we'd be screwed.

  • 39000 officers and men signed up to fight in u-boats. 32000 of these men were reported dead or missing a further 5000 were imprizoned. Only 2000 got back to germany safe.

  • drowning is to me the worst kind of death, which i admit is my biggest fear

  • hate to drown in one of these

  • The worst death I can imagine.

  • Kortem !!! commo penemm de alemanem!!!

  • too short damn it.

  • This one at Laboe - is it an original submarine boat? Or reproduction 1:1?

  • It's an original. Technically its a VII-C/41 and it is the last surviving example of its class. There is also a IX-C located in Chicago, a IX-C/40 at Woodside, in England and a Type XXI located in Bremerhaven, Germany. Those are, to date, the only surviving examples of German uboats in the world.

  • thank you. I think - you just gave me an idea where to go on the next trip :-)

  • It is the original u-boat u-995. after navy duty in norway it was given back to germany. it has benn restaurated and they brought it back in equipment of '45. In the rear and in the front they cutted doorways in the hull to make easy entrance. but it is still impressive. if you go to germany u have to see it. You barely can imagine how small it is inside of this boat. It must be very hard to kept inside for weeks in this "Tool" of war. It is still an awful machine

  • Its an orginal the only full complete VIIc in the world - next to the German Naval War Memorial which is alos fascinating - just outside of Kiel

  • I saw this u-boot at Laboe, near Keel, Baltic sea.You can visit her, it's beached next to the navy memorial of Laboe, awesome visit !

  • There is some amazing WW2 history in the UBoat effort.

  • majorpainful.Have some respect.I suspect your name is after ur arse as in take it in the.

  • they're awesome. at least they served us in

WW1 and 2, unlike you. those are some real men.

  • @pspkillah222 ya served as coffins

  • It where 50 crews not 44

  • war!!! holy crap!!??? are you people for real? war- any war is manufactured and insane: who really cares who did what to who..its all murder to me. do you want to send YOUR CHILDREN to thier deaths cuz of war?- i want to live but i would die a cowards death before a war heroes! the COMMON-WEALTH(rich)of the world want war so they can eliminate the lower classes, get richer acquire more power, and reduce population by killing OUR children...no more war!

  • you say no more war. but's it's Human nature to fight. this thing caleld the net that your on came from the Cold war. war is bad but there will always be wars. hwo do you think humans advance so fast.

  • Dogmeat 7...I never said I thought the net was good! and no thats incorrect- human nature is hard wired for peace and thrives on love not war...It is human nature to defend but thats only when there is a "real" threat...not to invade forcefully by encroachment! now go ahead and tell me you'd rather have the stress of combat over a relaxing night doing what you love, i.e. sex, sailing, whatever???

  • human Nature to love? rofl. defend? ya I'm sure the Romans felt a threat by the whole damn world! an Hitler,Naploen,Japanese Empire. I could go on lol. what happens when you get cheated on? Hate,Anger all builds up. 80% of all humans leaps have been to war. the Aircraft, jets,Computers,Subs,Radar, even Cand O.J lol. so many Medical Break throughs also do to war. war is bad,but for some strange reason we develope faster in war.

  • man shut the hell up. Your non confrontational, weak self, does not belong in a world built by people who fight for their beliefs. its people like you that cause nations of democracy to implode upon their gov't because ur too god damn weak to do anyting productive, so instead you sit on your damn couch at home or on your computer, bitching about how fighting is bad, war is murder, blah blah blah. shut ur pussy ass up, if you dont like something, take some real fucking action.

  • Sure havocfroming- war solves everything doesn't it? Your anger at me comes from fear. but the only REAL threat is from yourself.

do you understand what i mean? NOW let me tell you a little something- do know what true power is? it is having the power to kill and choosing NOT to! tell me, how is finding peaceful solutions to war weakness?. there is no logical justifiable excuse for war.none. except to kill your children. there are only two real emotions. fear and love. what do you choose?

  • niggers and jews are bad news

  • some people go to war to protect ur right to say a COWARDLY THING like u just did.

  • only idiots would start a war...there ius no threat..its you own military and government thats the threat...your brainwashed jumpyjedi

  • well, I just so happen to be on a ship as we speak, and I have been to what can only be called the worst place any man can ever go to. Actually went there and back again and went out one more time, but never ever has "God" been in my head. I am not opposed to religion, but if you do believe in God, and you are a true religious person you would never go to war in the first place. War is pure evil and that my friend, is the reason there is no God!:)

  • Germans and Russians were on a way to be ruling the world together and save it it from anglo-saxon plague forever(look whats happening now in the world because of anglo-saxon scum)so it's just a shame that anglo-saxons managed to trick our great nations into fighting each other. i'm going to Laboe next week to lay flowers for Those who died fighting anglo-saxon scum at sea

  • I agree with you bro - the Anglo-Saxons plague the world and are great criminals and hypocrites who destroy nations in the name of "democracy" and they way of life..

Germany had many russian volunteers in her army, Russia after 43 had Germans who collaborated with them.

But neither British nor Americans found Germans willing to help them and fight along side them.

Today, - most heatread the germans have is directed at the Westerners for the unjust things they've done in the past, not the USSR

  • true, Anglo-saxons will stop at nothing til they completely control the planet. already half the globe is slavering away just to fatten up USA and its satellites. even Hitler could not wish for more lol. ur wrong tho: there were way too many Germans fighting on Allied side but Hitler never trusted Russian collaborators enough to allow them fight alongside Whermacht, funny that

  • There were "many germans fighting on allied side" ? where and when? Germans despised the french and british for how they treated them after WW1. I'm sure that after what allied did to germany, the bombings, giving prisoners to soviets, ridiculing...etc, there was no sympathy for westerners anymore.

Hitler's only fault was he was too good with westerners..and a big too mean to russians.

I always say that Germany deserved to beat the French, but the Russians deserved to beat Germans

  • England 'tricked' Germany into attacking the Soviet Union? Please, explain. This should be interesting.

  • heh i wrote that while under influence of..!! probably should've chosen the words more carefully. but still, it's good that it's interesting for you. once you dig outside school books you'll find out A Lot of mindblowing stuff that might change some of your views. for starters, what do you think Western powers were nurturing Hitler's rise to power for in the long run?

  • I wasn't aware that England or America helped Hitler rise to power. Can you be more specific?

  • i can but you might well end up waterboarded in Guantanamo with knowledge like that lol))i advise you start by googling the nazi dealings of the grandfather of your beloved Bush, what a nice family really, all that lot. directly or in most cases indirectly, the western powers were very much involved. mind you, most of that stuff is still confidential for obvious reasons but lots is surfacing now here and there so do you own homework if it interests you. all the best

  • beloved my ass we all hate bush...hate him alot.. dont assume we love him.....thats like saying the french love sarko

  • sorry my bad surely there are many good people there like yourself who find him atrocious...hard to see how your great country could subscribe to this idiot's sequel show after his first installment. if you elect the Granddad now we might never live til the next American elections:p how's that developing, guys don't let he world down. remember we all live inside a big yellow U-boat so let's all be friends and enjoy Das Boot miniseries on a big plasma/surround sound accompanied by a huge spliff..

  • He didn't win by votes. He won by the electoral college that for some retarded reason our forefathers wanted to use.

He actually lost by the popular vote. No one likes him anymore, but change will come soon.

  • for crying out loud leave God out of this discussion. "God didn't want them to win" well probably not. God would in any way have a hell of a time wanting anyone to win seeing as he doesn't even exists. Even if there was a God I am still convinced that Germany lost the war because Hitler tried to do the job his generals should be doing. He didn't know a damn thing about tactics or supplies for that matter.

  • If you were on a sinking ship, (or Uboot), you'd staty praying to any and all gods to try to save you...

People forget about the "almighty" until they are in a bad situation and really need his help.. (Ohh, by the way.. God does exist 'even in war' ,and he helps a bit of both sides.. but above all, he gives Victory to the one that deserves most...

That said.. he rightfully gave the Germans victory over the French in 1940, and to the Russians...after 4 years of long war.

    Both deserved it ..

  • The reason why they lost the war was because they couldn't replace what they had lost. When Goering saw the p51's over Berlin, he knew the war was over. The Battle of the Bulge, they ran out of fuel. a large percentage of their fighting force at the Bulge were either old men or young boys. The u boats were to hitler just a sacrifice. The only country that could replace their lost supplies fast enough was the U. S.

  • god never wanted them to and also they streched there forces to much it was going great until they attacked russia

  • Agreed, but then the Nazis got to the point where Britain entered the war and they were doomed then. I know the Americans assisted, but they were late, twice! Britain made the biggest effort if you take into account the population at the time etc..

  • yep following Battle of Dunkirk all Germans surrendered unconditionally straight away, it just took a while for British Army to cross the Channel again and start partying. what took them so long?!...and what do you smoke?

  • @faireyswordfishmk1

    lol "god"

  • @faireyswordfishmk1

LOL whata hell does Russia have to do with U-boats? S-class and K-class subs were shit. Could never tame this beast.

  • God doesnt exist

  • @chaghar are u fucking crazy???????

god DOESNT EXIST CMON do u have seen a miracle NO its all about fucking tactics how to win the fucking war what a retard.

  • err I mean Type VII C

  • Hi Fairey Sword Fish.

Good shots you have there. Is this the Type II C in Kiel? Cheers Fizziwob

  • im not sure because i got this from a documentry on the history channel. feel free to check out my other sub vids

    regards

    faireyswordfishmk1

  • @faireyswordfishmk1

did you listen to the first 10 secs of video?

"this is the Type 7 C Uboat"

so im guessing it's probably not a Type II

  • Hey... sorry for a late reply. Yes there is indeed an old VIIC NEAR Kiel in Germany. It is stationed in a town called Laboe close to Marine Memorials from the War. Definitely worth to see

  • @fizziwob yes, it is the VIIC boat in Laboe near Kiel, this is the only one left.

  • @fizziwob

As they say in the documentary, it is the only remaining VIIC boat, so it`s got to be Kiel. As far as I know, this is really the only remaining VIIC boat..

Been there 3 times, it is really absolutely fascinating, to walk through it. And to know, that this really went to war...

  • @fizziwob yes it is, U-995 in Laboe, near Kiel. In Bremerhaven you can visit an XXI Type Submarine. Sad that only four of this wonderful subs survived the War.

    the VII-C in Laboe (Germany)

    the XXI in Bremerhaven (Germany)

    and the IX-C in Chicago

And an Type II somewhere in Norway, don't know exactly where...but in Norway :)

thanks for uploading, great shots :)

  • True! >)

  • Thanks for the video!

  • no prob dude ill try upload some more soon

  • ps i uploaded some new footage

  • sorry its short but plz comment and rate thanks
