I was within 100 miles of the 6.8 Loma Prieta EQ in California in 1989 (happened on my birthday) and just felt a mild swaying. I'm guessing this quake was larger than a 5.9.

The building was swaying, I was counting...26,27, 28 seconds when it began to subside.

I knew exactly what was going on because on 06.23.11 at 13:41, in Quebec, 23 miles north of Cumberland, ON, a 5.0 earthquake hit at 11 miles deep as per USGS. Reports confirmed it was felt in NYC.

We're 700 miles north of Mineral, VA. and I felt the pillars of our building swaying...

What's next I wonder...?

i live in mineral VA the epicenter was a few miles south of me ... it was extremely intense rattled the drawers open in my dresser, bottles books came off shelves ... the house was shaking like no tomorrow as we all ran out barely able to keep our balance ... never experienced an earthquake before ... 5.9 is nothing to laugh about seriously
