NO ONE could have done better. Gov. Huckabee knows the meaning of by-partisanship because he lived it in Arkansas!

Former Governor Huckbee is trying really hard to sound like a conservative these days. He has come along way since advocating subsidized education for illegal aliens. Glad to see he has convictions.

You should probably learn the context of issues like that before typing silly comments like this.

Huckabee was for a sane immigration policy like he should. But there are mandates to educate children of illegal immigrants, and it is obvious that it is better to keep gifted students in your state and be a citizen as opposed to a tax taker.

Drahthaar422, for the benefit of socialists like yourself. In order to be a scholarship, one must possess then give. The government does not own anything. So, the government by the use of force/threat of force must take private property(money often called taxes) from the real owners to provide a service or product. Much more could be said--but I think this is a bit much for you to grasp. Subsidy is the correct word; if Mike calls it anything else it would be incorrect.

The Constitution gives states the right to govern their own education process, and merit-based scholarships from the state are fair game. These scholarships help keep the smart kids in Arkansas and help out the state. I don't quite understand your reasoning. Yes, they're funded by taxpayers, but it benefits everyone because it boosts the Arkansas economy. It's not a bad thing, and the gov. isn't encroaching on any rights.

Colleges would compete for students based on price. Then, poor people could actually afford to go to school. Republicans used to be about eliminating the department of education. With all this government intervention, Mike sounds more like a Democrat then a Republican of limited government.
