It still blows my mind how successful this film was compared to it's production value, I mean its just an puppet alien, a boy and a house for the most part. Unlike Star Wars that came out five years earlier in 77 that had all kinds of elaborate special effects, sets, costumes, props, and epic space battles. Just goes to show you that a high budget doesn't equal high box-office revenue and vice versa.
The Williams-esque transition from 1:02 to one of the Themes in the movie gives me goosebumps ALL the time! A masterpiece, more than ever in John's orchestration! Thank you Mr. Williams!
simply amazing!!! i remember seeing this in the theaters about 4 times...i made my mom take me.....the music alone is just fantastic....being the exact age of Henry Thomas i felt so close to the character .....i think he was my first crush!!! LOL my fav. movie of all times!!
30 years....and this is STILL the best soundtrack to any movie......

at 4:06 is an awesome section with a killer progression of rhythms, chords and instruments that builds with tremolo strings to crescendo at 4:29
love it!!!

His version of this compared to all the rip off versions is so superior.

I love this music. Probably the best music score for a film ever! Very memorable, just brilliant.
