This is incredible, this aircraft is the highest performing prop transport ever, it sounds and behaves like a jet, that last turn was incredible. It's no secret the USAF wan't to but it, Lockeed better stop complaining and do something b/c the C130 simply can't match this.
LMFAO, this thing will never out perform the C-130. C-130 can go places where nearly no other planes can go. This thing is a piece of plastic eurotrash. It will fall apart in different climates. See you Euro's precious Europcopter. Germans just asked for Apache's because they can handle the harsh climates. Same will happen for this thing.
@zildjiandrummr12, could u bugger off and leave comments for actual aviation fans, C130 has been a great arcraft for decades, it needs to be replaced, lockheed is pushing a new version of the C17 that can land on soft unprepared fields by adding new center line bogeys to spread the weight, the USAF have made it clear, they want the A400M. By the way, like the V-22, the apache faced reliability problems early in its service life, still turned out ok, maybe ur too young to know that.
@dru4m It's the only way to keep living in his "#1!!!"-bubble. Airbus is gaining on Boeing and moving onto "Military Industry". The EU has become the #1 Economy in the world and rapidly expanding. We don't go around the web scolding Americans thinking that'll make it more real. We just work to make it better, Zildjian should do that too instead of blaming us or the president and calling him and us discriminating names. It's good there's still Americans like you, we consider you brothers - truly.
@dru4m Lockheed doesn't build the C-17, its a McDonnell Douglas design that is now a Boeing aircraft (since they bought the company). The USAF will most likely not by the A400M, not because its not a good plane, but because Congress has consistently added C-17s (even when the Air Force didn't ask for them). USAF personnel asking for information on the aircraft doesn't mean they are going to buy any, airlines board commercial planes all the time at airshows - and place no orders.
@zildjiandrummr12 haha. max weight for a A400M is 141 000kg for t/o compared to a C130 which is 79 380kg... max speed for the C130 511km/h as for the A400M it 780km/h Take off distance is: 980m( 3200ft) landing is 780m(2526ft)... the C130 take off distance is : 3,586 ft (1,093 m) with 70 000 tonnes lighter...
Is that a fact? Do the Americans really want the bird? I thought they were pretty well set up with the C-130J as the latest yet well proven versatile tactical carrier and the C-17 as the most capable (not in terms of weight carried, but in overall performance) strategic cargo plane. Do they need something in between? Why?
@flexi712 Good question, I think the issue with the C130 is that it can't carry a lot of the new vehicles & equipment that the C17 can & still land on very unprepared strips, it was built for 1950s and 60s equipment not the heavier bigger stuff of the 21st century. The A400 has a big enough cargo box to do that and still go where a C130 can but where the C17 (which has higher payload) can't. The bonus is, it already exists paid for by European taxpayers so less risk and less waiting.

A shame about the music. Makes it like a Hollywood B-movie.

@dru4m USAF doesn't want the A400M. All C-17s can land on uprepared strips. Where on earth are you getting this information from?
