Hi Dara, I just began injecting my 12 year old with steroids in hopes that she too can "break records" and get man-pecs like you !!! Her confidence is growing along with the rest of her body. Wow they really work. You are a true inspiration.
@sgtsexy123 Next time you have a thought, just let it go. I hope this 8 month delay on responding has not caused mental tormet to your friends and family.
@atrasz not really .. the fact that you're trying to hurt me over the internet makes no harm to me at all . just means that you are a terrible troll and should quit thanks goodbye .. -sgtsexy123
Not really, my uncles 46 and looks and acts as young as my 21 year old cousin. Some people have got the gene. It runs in my family and obviously does in hers as well.
Her career trajectory is like that of Mark McGwire's and Barry Bonds'. At the age when she should be well past her prime, she's better than ever--even though she's been a well trained, well coached, elite athlete since her early teens. Somehow her earlier training just sucked compared to now.
Of course, she keeps testing clean--just like Marion Jones did.
Okay! Here is your argument. Compare baseball players to a swimmer. Sports that have been around for a 100 years with billions of dollars in it, against the sport that has had it's overall most improvement and development in the past 10 years and only gets somewhat popular during the olympics. Mark Spitz with his best swims wouldn't even place at junior meets today, thats how much training and methods have improved in swimming. This is one of the most ignorant comments you could possibly make!
@Bamafan206: Speaking of ignorant, swimming has been a sport since the ANCIENT Olympics. MUCH longer than baseball. Olympic swimmers have capitalized on their success for DECADES. (Ever hear of Johnny Weissmuller?) Gee, I wonder what suddenly accounts for the very recent improvement and development you mention? Could it be...STEROIDS? They've been part of Olympic swimming since the 1970's! You are very naive and willfully ignorant. Also, too bad about the Sugar Bowl.
I'm not gonna argue with you. The key words in my comment were not how long the sport has been around, but how long it's been around with that much money involved in the sport. And the reason I said that even Mark Spitz would get wooped silly by today's JUNIORS, so it would make you wonder whether they are giving steroids to the youngsters. and it's alright about the Sugar Bowl, Bama's back and that's what counts. ROLL TIDE!
'I'm more like an.....aunt!' lol! I love both the men's and women's swim teams, they're so laid back and funny! The other sports team are too serious! Dara rocks!
A true ambassador and the epitome of human excellence. Before the medals you were already a champion. They serve only to confirm it. Your excellence does not depend on the water rather it is who you are that swims. And the race cannot be measured by medals whether you win them or not.
She has inspired many, achieved things many won't in their lives, and is a wonderful human being. What are you doing with your life...besides typing stupid messages on here?
OK she is great! But why trash Phelps? Is it because he's a male? Or maybe white? Would you guys trash a Black because a white woman won a metal? What a bunch of gender bias pricks!
urbanranger101.......It's spelled "You're all wrong." You are is joined to become you're, not your. If you are going to use profanity to insult me, please use correct grammar. I always said I am a big fan of hers and hope she is clean. Read my other posts.
urbanranger101.......another tip of advice. You can't really "hide" behind fake screen names. I'll know who you are by tommorrow morning. As for me being a complete dumbass, I have a Masters degree and earn 150K per year. I am also a retired pro football player and know people who have used hormone replacement to heal injuries. I also know people who have spent time with Olympic swimmers in the past 20 years since Seoul.
somnambulist.....The truth hurts, I guess. You can't really "hide" behind fake screennames, so I would suggest you at least don't graduate from profanity to terroristic threats. I am being honest, here. I know so many people who use tiny doses of hormone replacement to heal injuries. Read my earlier posts, too. I said I am a big fan of hers and hope she is clean. If me earning a nice living and being educated bothers you, then pay no mind to me. Calling me names doesn't bother me in the least.
I guess well educated and well paid people can argue pointlessly on youtube as well as the rest of us "regular" folks, but I find it hard to believe you played professional football. Someone who really did wouldn't usually bring it up in an internet argument because they know no one would believe them.
somnambulist.....I never said I played in the NFL. I was a backup linebacker from 1990-93, bouncing around in Canada and American Minor Leagues. I should have worded it as "former" versus retired as I clearly still work and barely made any money from football. However, I don't resort to profanity in my posts.
tkadri85 is right....you just don't get better than you ever were at age 41. The body just doesn't move the same way after a certain age. How many 41-year old NFL running backs are there? How many 41-year old 100m sprinters are there? Holyfield and Foreman are my perfect comparisons. They did great things after their physical primes, but they had to adjust to their age. Dara just got better as she got older and retired twice. It is very suspicious.
Like I said, I hope she's clean, but look at all the baseball players that got better from ages 30-40 and got caught. Then look at Holyfield and Foreman, who fought hard and courageously into their 40's but were nowhere near as good as they were in their mid-20's. Carl Lewis slowed down in the 100m and was not able to qualify in the 1992 or 1996 games. He did win gold in long jump in those years, but his prime sprinter years were over.
Evander Holyfield, in 2003 at age 41, was TKO'd in 9 rounds by James Toney. Evander's corner was going to throw in the towel after 8 rounds because Evander wasn't throwing punches. His physique looked its usual amazing self, but his snap, timing, speed and once incredible stamina was gone. Evander has more heart than any athlete I have ever seen, but time ran out on him. You could see a decline in his skills as he got older. He didn't get better when he turned 40. Dara did.........
George Foreman (1968 Olympic Champion) was also smart in his comeback. However, he fought a slower pace and had to use timing and strategy versus the blasting style he used when he was 25. I love Dara, but I am just saying that World Class athletes usually lose their speed, stamina and reflexes first. Dara isn't like Foreman. She swims faster than she did when she was 25. Foreman was not faster, not even close at age 41 as when he was 25.
she is smart in only choosing the sprints, she can rely on perfect technique. perhaps anything over 100 meters would show up her age. I dont follow swimming, but thought she was brilliant!
I thought she was really hot when she did the "Tae-Bo" informercial for Billy Blanks back in the late 1990's. She swims for the Gold medal in 2 races tonight. I hope she is clean, but the Lyle Alzado comparison is kind of obvious.........both 41 years old and funding their own comeback with a team of personal trainers and alternative training methods. Lyle scolded Maria Shriver when she asked him in spring 1990 if he was on steroids. He died in spring 1992.
Torres took silver in 50m freestyle by 1/100 of a second, her first individual silver medal. She took silver in the relay later on. She had her best Olympic performance at age 41.
They had closeups of her live tonight right out of the pool with no makeup and I was surprised to see that she is actually very feminine with lovely eyes and not a wrinkle in sight. She's a naturally pretty woman. People are just jealous because she's pretty inside and out.
How do you know if she had make up on? There is such a thing as waterproof makeup. It was obviously apparent on some of the swimmers when they did close ups. As far as wrinkles go, she actually does have some. Plus, she could have had a face lift. She has already shown that she's no stranger to surgery.
It shows what genes, training, and massage therapy can do. Now if she used Buteyko Breathing Therapy, she may not have to cheat with the asthma inhaler.
It shows what genes, training, and massage therapy can do. Now if she used Buteyko Breathing Therapy, she may not have to cheat with the asthma inhaler.
In light of the tremedous amount of dedication required to do this, it is particularly offensive to make such an fhlippant accusation, but it does illistrate your own lack of backbone.
Dara is part of a new program where she is tested almost daily. She is also having blood saved so it can be tested in the future when new techniques for testing come forth.
As another mom (of a teen and pre-teen girls), I started playing rugby at the age of 37. I go to the gym regularly and I am built a lot like Dara. I've had comments from people about my physique... they can't grasp the idea that a woman my age could have a strong body that can out perform some women half her age. It's just discipline, focus and lots of hard work. So all I have to say is YOU GO GIRL! Don't let the accusations get to you. You've earned this!
YOu go Dara!!! and some of these men that are hating on her are basically insecure of their masculinity that's if they have one lol. You're an inspiration to everyone, especially someone older
You know, there are woment that thinks she dopes as well. We see who is the sexist one. This has nothing to do with gender. It is about sports organizations that have become overflown with cheaters.
Sorry tkad but she doesnt cheat she gets tested all the time because of people like you. She does not cheat. 41 really is not that old now if she was 50 well that would be hard to believe
She won first place in a swim meet in 2006 one month after giving birth. As I said in previous post, just because she isn't using them now, doesn't mean she never used them at all. Many athletes, such as Andy Pettite and Shawne Merriman, used steroids to recover from injuries. She has had three shoulder surgeries and a knee surgery. I am not saying that at 41 she should not be able to compete, but to beat out world class talent like Natalie Coughlin raises OBVIOUS suspicion, and rightly so.
You do realize that the purpose of the steroid industry is to come out with drugs that CAN'T be detected right? Why would any athlete take something that they know doping agencies can catch? Roger Clemens "voluntarily" went to testify before Congress. Doesn't prove anything. If you actually researched some of her "feats" you would know why so many PROFESSIOINAL sportscasters have also voiced doubt. Every story to date with an aging athlete performing at 20's level was tainted with steroids.
You realize that they KEEP her blood as part of the program so that in the future, as tests develop further, they can test it as much as they want, right? That's how the program works.
You clearly didn't read prior post that I made. Many athletes, such as Andy Petite and Shawne Merriman, were found to have used performance enhancing drugs to heal from injuries that they had. We are speaking of a woman who had three shoulder surgeries and one knee surgery. Had it not been for those surgeries, many would probably find it probable that she could compete at 41, but this is not the case. At the 2006 Masters Nationals she broke a world record THREE WEEKS AFTER HAVING A KID!
So what that does not mean she is taking steroids. Three weeks of steroid use is not going to do much at all. she was swiming while she was preagnant all the time. my brothers gf who had a kid was back to normal in two weeks back to her normal weight and everything after having her kid some people are just geneticly gifted
If you even bothered to read what I wrote, I never said that she used steroids in that three weeks after birth. I am suggesting that she used steroids to heal and recover from her numerous surgeries that she had. In one of your statements on here you said that 41 isn't that old. Compared to a person in their twenties, it is.By a person's thirties they are already on the way down as far as their prime is concerned.Men's testosterone(needed for muscle growth) levels start declining. at this age.
The point isn't that she is taking steroids now. She'd be an idiot to with all the attention on her due to her suspicious "comeback." But I, and many others, think she used them to get back into shape. Breaking a world record three weeks after having a kid? Please.
Denial is the most predictable of all human responses. - The Architect.
I agree with tkadri85........besides, many athletes use tiny doses of HGH (1 iu per day for a few months) to heal injuries and speed recovery. Small doses like that are very hard, if not impossible, to detect in blood tests. Many others use injectible IGF-1 for 6 weeks, and then they get off with the muscular gains and healing remaining for indefinite periods. She could have used IGF-1 a year ago and still maintain the results. So many people use that advanced form of HGH now. It's the new THG
I understand where you're coming from, but at the same time, with everything stacked against this woman, she has still come out clean and gets tested constantly. Until we have proof otherwise, I don't understand the need to lash out at her.
I bet Natalie Coughlin isn't too happy that Torres beat her out in the USA Olympic Trials for 50m......I always liked Dara, but I am just saying that I know dozens of 50-year old ex-athletes that use this IGF-1 for 6 weeks, 3 times a year and say they feel like they are 25 years old, waking up with energy and hardly any aches and pains. It does something to your cellular structure. Do a websearch and read about it. It is the new big thing for the past 2 years or so.
you are an idot tkadri three weeks of steroid use is not gonna do shit not enough to break a world record grow up. Are just fat and ugly and just cant believe a women as beautiful as her can do what she does at 41 what is it? jealousy?
Once again, learn to read before you open your mouth because it is obvious that you have read none of my post nor researched the events surrounding Dara Torres. You're basically talking out of your ass. I never said that she used steroids just during the three weeks after giving birth. I never stated EXACTLY when she used them, just that it seems probable given the circumstances. Sad that just because honest people want to see honest athletes, that others feel the need to make petty remarks.
I remember George Foreman retiring in 1977 (age 28), coming back in 1987 (age 38) and finally retiring in 1997 (age 48). He was bigger, heavier, but was slower and forced to fight with more strategy and at a slower pace. He had less snap in his punches. He couldn't flurry or push the pace when he was 25. He set up opponents for KO's with timing and ring generalship. But George was nowhere near the specimen he was in his 20's and was noticeably slower. THAT is how older world class athletes age.
I meant George couldn't push the pace at age 38 like he did at age 25. Age forced George to fight differently. He won the title back at age 45 but was nowhere near the fighter he was 20 year earlier when Ali beat him in Africa. George admits he had to fight differently when he was older and couldn't push the same pace as when he was younger.
tkadri85 you are just one those people that even when the facts smack you right in your face you still cant accept it.SHE DOES NOT USE STEROIDS THERE IS NO STERIOD THAT CANT BE DETECTED.
SullySixx.........do a websearch on IGF-1 and read about this potent form of HGH. People take it for 6 weeks, then reap benefits for months before taking it again. I know so many people that swear by it. I don't know a single person that had tested positive for it. It is not an anabolic steroid, but it is an effective performance enhancing drug. It heals injuries and creates a ripped physique as it supposedly changes your cellular structure.
Wrong. This statement in and of itself shows your ignorance. The steroid industry's JOB is to make steroids that can't be detected. Who would buy steroids that they know can be detected? Facts? All I've seen is mindless rambling from you.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The man swimming in women's competition has two foul advantages. First, "she" is a MAN. Second, he does a lot of drugs. There's no pride in going to the Olympics by cheating your way into it. It is dishonorable.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This dyke is a man. Look at him. It is a dude. It's not fair that dudes can swim in women's competition. All those steroids aren't good. You sense the incredible level of testosterone. This swimmer is a full man. Sad Americans.
Is she? Last I read she is married to a man and has repeatedly lent herself up for both blood doping and muscle enhancing drugs and tested negative. Also after her qualifying for the Oly games she was tested again and was negative. maybe just give her credit for working hard.
Is Steffi Graff(not sure of spelling) going to come back soon??? She's only 39, anything possible these days! Soon we'll have sprinters that are 50 years old, boxers will be able to train into their 80's. This is a great era!!!
for the folks who think she's using drugs, this from rolling stone: Knowing how improbable her recovery story was, she offered herself up to United States Anti-Doping Agency officials and volunteered for rigorous testing.
"I said, 'Look, I want to be an open book. Because I want people to know that I'm doing this right. That I am 41 years old and I'm clean and I want a clean sport.'"
Marion Jones tested negative for steroids and now she's in jail. The steroid industry is always a step ahead of the testing agency. What's the point of using steroids if you know that the current testing methods are capable of detecting them?
Lets say your right and she did take steroids way back in what 2006 you say? what does it matter now because she is not taking them now so SHUT YOUR MOUTH
Actually it does matter because the results of steroid use can last long after taking them. Part of the reason that anyone even gives a damn about her is the age at which she is doing this. Most athletes get injured in old age because the body cannot carry the burden that it did in younger years. The same happened to her yet she came back. If she had to use steroids to do it, then their is nothing miraculous about it. She is just another Barry Bonds.
This lady beat out other top notch athletes, at the 2006 Master National, ONE MONTH after having a child. If THAT does not cause one to develop some sort of suspicion then one is a fucking idiot. Also, just because she isn't on roids now, doesn 't mean she never used them. Andy Pettitte used HGH to heal from a joint elbow injury. Hmm. Joint injuries? I believe Torress had three knee surgeries and a rotator cuff surgery. I can't believer there are this many fuckin stupi people in the world.
Dude, aren't you German, since the text of the page you sent me was in German? Your countries Olympic history is filled with cheaters and murderers. You, of all people, should be able to appreciate HONEST competition.
I am an American. I wrote my reply in english. As far as my prior comments, a few bad apples don't make all apples bad. I appreciate honest competition. I also appreciate giving people the benefit of the doubt, especially when they have done nothing to deserve unjust scrutiny and suspicion. SOmetimes people are honest and successful. It may be hard to believe, but most often that is the case. The media loves cheaters and scandals but most folks are honest and decent.
I am a big fan of hers. I hope she is clean. I do remember Lyle Alzado at age 41 having 3 personal trainers, putting lot of his own money into a comeback with the Raiders, and using HGH and steroids. He played 1 preseason game and was cut 2 days later, albeit more muscular than he had ever been during his playing days. I use Lyle as an example because he was the same age during his failed comeback in 1990 as she is now.
Look at all the sports phenom's in sports from baseball to football to track and field. More often than not, when it sounded to good to be true, it was. Prior to them being caught if you didn't believe them, yet you believe Torres, it shows just how biased you are. Unlike a lot of you idiots, I follow ALL sports, not just swimming and whenever athletes have been found using steroids, the trends prior to them being found out were always the same, so shut up unless you know what ur talkin about
torres gets her blood checked (yeah if you didnt know, you can get away with some substance if you do urine check, not with blood check) before EVERY RACE!
i bet you're just jealous because this 41 year old woman (who's probably as old as your mom) can beat your sorry ass any day.
Boxing blood test and athletes were found using steroids. Blood testing means nothing. You have to realized that the people who make steroids know what testing methods are employed by testing agencies and develop their drugs around it.
Assuming that this woman even could "beat my ass," what does that even have to do with anything?Thesame argument that that dumb bitch janetluke used.I don't like cheaters. They take away from actual hard workers.I don't like any of the high profile athletes found to be using steroids as of recent.Your ad-hominem attacks in no way address the fact that her performance show similar patterns to that of other high profile steroid users.I guess the news commentators who said the same are also jealous.
okay. so i get the sense that you've been kicked out of the team because someone used drugs. but not everyone is like that kay?
her own coach, is really against steroids. why? because his own wife, was really affected when she lost an olympic race (she got 6th place, and the first four took steroids- it was the time when steroids were allowed). So dont you think he would make sure she doesnt use steroids?
havent you heard of someone called terry hitchcock? dean karnazes? not just those, tons of old people (50++) participates and CAN compete with people our age (if your age stated there is indeed true) in triathlon and marathon competitions. trust me, i know. i've seen it with my own eyes. im pretty sure they are not steroid users, because seriously. what for? and yet they manage to compete with the younglings.
Please, even if you disagree with me, keep your opinion to yourself and stop slandering this woman's reputation. She is a hero to so many people and has proven time and time again that she has what it takes to be an olympian.
She is no hero. She is a doper. You're just some blind follower who refuses to see the truth for what it is. Every public athlete as of recent who showed SIGNIFICANT gains in their late thirties, was later found to be using steroids. McGuire, Sosa, Bonds, Jones, Pettite, Clemens, Landis, Shawne Merriman, ALL DOMINATED and were later found/ or are in the process of being found out to be using steroids.
Well the truth will out. And in the end I hope we can both live with the outcome. Until then, I'll have my opinion, you have yours. I hope you have a plesant life.
Don't like what I'm saying, go cry about it to the news organizations. I'm not saying anything that every major sportcasting outlet isn't. No one believes this is legitamite except her blind fans like you. The real crime is that someone who actually worked hard to make the Olympics will not get a chance due to this selfish idiot. She's just an attention whore who can't accept that her time in the spotlight is over and was willing to do whatever necessary to stay in it.
If you look back at sports during the last fifteen years, more often than not, when a story seemed to good to be true, it was. Something to think about. It's so funny how people were so quick to condemn Barry Bonds when he was accused of steroids with nothing but circumstantial evidence, yet turn a blind eye to Torres. Sheep.
You are a very angry bitter negative person. She volunteered for a program that required her to be tested after every single race. Training techniques, nutrition and overall health of the average 41 yr old woman have dramatically improved in the last 10-20 yrs. If you doped, you still couldn't get to the olympics so shut the fuck up. Don't judge before we have some evidence. Just calm down and stop ranting and raving. Be proud of our American athletes. don't be such an asshole.
And you're a dumb naive bitch who's probably divorced with several kids who's dreams in life died a long time ago. I bet when Bonds was accused of steroids, you though he was guilty but because Torres is some old woman like you, you empathize with and defend her blindly. I'm sure you didn't think so highly of all the other athletes, before the were found out, that were found to have been using steroids.
She volunteered for a testing program? So what? Do you know how to read? First, ALL of the athletes indicted in recent years were caught as a result of government raids on drug labs, NOT SPORT-REGULATED TESTING LIKE THE STUFF SHE IS DOING. Nearly every major athlete who dominated their sport in recent years was on steroids. Secondly, just because she volunteered for a program doesn't mean anything. R. Clemens volunteered to testify before Congress to "prove" his innocence.
That's the first thing that an athlete will do if they are suspected of steroids is to make some above-and-beyond move to make people think "Well, there is no way he'd be doing this if he/she was actually on steroids." Naive bitches like you are the reason why guys nowadays don't bother getting married, because they can tell you anythiing to get in you're pants and you'd believe it, though not you specifically as I'm sure you're nothing worth looking at. Old and haggled.
And by the way, if she has used any type of steriod/HGH to heal after her surgeries that sort of thing is carfully monitored by USA Swimming. I realize that where there is a will there is a way for people to get away with drug use and doping but on the national level these things are so carefully regulated THESE DAYS (present tense, not 5, 10, or 20 years ago) that there is no way anyone (especially someone of the age of 40 who people, like yourself, are skeptical of) could get away with it.
Marion Jones just got jail time for lying about steroid use. They didn't catch her with testing. Even if she isn't on steroids now, it is highly probable that she used them to recover from the injuries and get the "boost" that she needed to make a comeback. Did you believe Bonds or Clemens or any other found steroid user? If not, then the fact that you believe Torres shows that you are just some blind follower.
I myself know a 46 year old man who came within .04 seconds of getting an olympic trial cut. He does not use steriods, nor has he ever used any other method of artificial enhancement. He trains. He takes it very seriously and because he is older he has to go the extra mile, put in the extra effort, and forge a unique training plan.
How do you know if he takes steroids or not. According to a report I saw a couple months ago, the average steroid user is a middle-aged white male. Unless you are this man, you have no way of knowing if he takes steroids or not, and "because he said so" is not proof. So many "reputable" figures in everything from politics to sports to religious figures have been shown to be phony hypocrites. For you to blindly believe someone shows how naive you are.
You are naive, these times are different to 10 - 20 years ago. People are younger, stronger and naturally more fit. We'll see more naturally born winners of older ages than 20s.
Uh no. Most of the people who compete into old age stay HEALTHY their ENTIRE career. This woman had MULTIPLE surgeries. Surgery takes a lot out of your body. I find it hard to believe that she endured three and was able to come back without drug assistance. We have just finished coming out of the steroid era in sports. It's really not that hard to fathom.
wht the f*ck, anything is possible. she has proved on the drug test that she hasnt taken anything. cant people just accept that this woman is in the olympics and she deserves to be there?
Someone else said it best, but I will try to paraphrase it for you. Many different sports test for drugs, from boxing to football, yet sport-regulated testing has rarely led to the incrimination of athletes. It has usually come as the result of a federal investigation (i.e. Balco). All the athletes that were incriminated in the Balco scandal had tested clean.
Marion Jones DENIED FOR YEARS that she was involved, despite the fact that her former husband said she was, and low-and-behold, he was telling the truth, yet she only admitted it once the Feds found her out. And in the same way that Clemens went to testify befor Congress to "prove" his innocence, the only reason Torres is on that testing committee is to deflect the negative attention coming at her. This is a formula that's been done far too many times. Only naive fools believe her deception.
oh come on...you have to give her and the US Olympic team some credit...Having a baby actually makes many women better athletes due to increased lung capacity needed during pregnancy. I can speak to that personally. USA Swimming does not want the embarassment of doping during the Olympics...I'm sure she has been tested to death. Don't be such an ass. Americans produce fabulous athletes especially since we have the best coaches in the world. Don't be a dick and say such crap.
First of all, when you make the claim that America has "the best coaches in the world," you are the one that sounds like a dick. Did you believe Bonds, Clemens, Landis, Giambii, Jones, or any of the other athletes suspected/found guilty of steroids. If not, then why do you believe her?Just because she has been tested means nothing. All of the athletes busted in recent years were found out through federal raids on drug labs, not testing. It is well know that sport-regulated testing is unreliable.
it is irrational to think she is clean, and there is a young comptetitor out there who lost her spot in the Olympics because of this cheater. So way to go, feminist jerks.

mrgbennet 2 years ago
Her career trajectory is like that of Mark McGwire's and Barry Bonds'. At the age when she should be well past her prime, she's better than ever--even though she's been a well trained, well coached, elite athlete since her early teens. Somehow her earlier training just sucked compared to now.
Of course, she keeps testing clean--just like Marion Jones did.
The Olympics have become a joke.
w9j15g 2 years ago
Bamafan206 2 years ago 2
@Bamafan206: Speaking of ignorant, swimming has been a sport since the ANCIENT Olympics. MUCH longer than baseball. Olympic swimmers have capitalized on their success for DECADES. (Ever hear of Johnny Weissmuller?) Gee, I wonder what suddenly accounts for the very recent improvement and development you mention? Could it be...STEROIDS? They've been part of Olympic swimming since the 1970's! You are very naive and willfully ignorant. Also, too bad about the Sugar Bowl.
w9j15g 2 years ago
Doesn't matter if she takes steroids, still has a good technique and is faster then you
ADVERTlSEMENT 2 years ago
I'm not gonna argue with you. The key words in my comment were not how long the sport has been around, but how long it's been around with that much money involved in the sport. And the reason I said that even Mark Spitz would get wooped silly by today's JUNIORS, so it would make you wonder whether they are giving steroids to the youngsters. and it's alright about the Sugar Bowl, Bama's back and that's what counts. ROLL TIDE!

urbanranger101.......another tip of advice.

Calling me names doesn't bother me in the least.
mulker47 3 years ago
I guess well educated and well paid people can argue pointlessly on youtube as well as the rest of us "regular" folks, but I find it hard to believe you played professional football. Someone who really did wouldn't usually bring it up in an internet argument because they know no one would believe them.
somnambuIist 3 years ago
somnambulist.....I never said I played in the NFL. I was a backup linebacker from 1990-93, bouncing around in Canada and American Minor Leagues. I should have worded it as "former" versus retired as I clearly still work and barely made any money from football. However, I don't resort to profanity in my posts.

TearsDropsMN 3 years ago 2
tkadri85 is right....you just don't get better than you ever were at age 41. It is very suspicious.
mulker47 3 years ago
No, 41 year olds are different these days, so not very suspicious at all.
oklapi 1 year ago
Like I said, I hope she's clean, but look at all the baseball players that got better from ages 30-40 and got caught. Then look at Holyfield and Foreman, who fought hard and courageously into their 40's but were nowhere near as good as they were in their mid-20's. Carl Lewis slowed down in the 100m and was not able to qualify in the 1992 or 1996 games. He did win gold in long jump in those years, but his prime sprinter years were over.
mulker47 3 years ago
Id HIT THAT
BryanMDK 3 years ago
Evander Holyfield, in 2003 at age 41, was TKO'd in 9 rounds by James Toney. Evander's corner was going to throw in the towel after 8 rounds because Evander wasn't throwing punches. His physique looked its usual amazing self, but his snap, timing, speed and once incredible stamina was gone. Evander has more heart than any athlete I have ever seen, but time ran out on him. You could see a decline in his skills as he got older. He didn't get better when he turned 40. Dara did.........
mulker47 3 years ago
George Foreman (1968 Olympic Champion) was also smart in his comeback. However, he fought a slower pace and had to use timing and strategy versus the blasting style he used when he was 25. I love Dara, but I am just saying that World Class athletes usually lose their speed, stamina and reflexes first. Dara isn't like Foreman. She swims faster than she did when she was 25. Foreman was not faster, not even close at age 41 as when he was 25.

ToolOfTrade 3 years ago
I thought she was really hot when she did the "Tae-Bo" informercial for Billy Blanks back in the late 1990's. She swims for the Gold medal in 2 races tonight. I hope she is clean, but the Lyle Alzado comparison is kind of obvious.........both 41 years old and funding their own comeback with a team of personal trainers and alternative training methods. Lyle scolded Maria Shriver when she asked him in spring 1990 if he was on steroids. He died in spring 1992.
mulker47 3 years ago
Torres took silver in 50m freestyle by 1/100 of a second, her first individual silver medal. She took silver in the relay later on. She had her best Olympic performance at age 41.
mulker47 3 years ago
They had closeups of her live tonight right out of the pool with no makeup and I was surprised to see that she is actually very feminine with lovely eyes and not a wrinkle in sight. She's a naturally pretty woman. People are just jealous because she's pretty inside and out.
cheeseballet 3 years ago
How do you know if she had make up on? There is such a thing as waterproof makeup. It was obviously apparent on some of the swimmers when they did close ups. As far as wrinkles go, she actually does have some. Plus, she could have had a face lift. She has already shown that she's no stranger to surgery.

tkadri85 3 years ago
Sorry tkad but she doesnt cheat she gets tested all the time because of people like you. She does not cheat. 41 really is not that old now if she was 50 well that would be hard to believe
SullySixx 3 years ago
She won first place in a swim meet in 2006 one month after giving birth. As I said in previous post, just because she isn't using them now, doesn't mean she never used them at all. Many athletes, such as Andy Pettite and Shawne Merriman, used steroids to recover from injuries. She has had three shoulder surgeries and a knee surgery. I am not saying that at 41 she should not be able to compete, but to beat out world class talent like Natalie Coughlin raises OBVIOUS suspicion, and rightly so.
tkadri85 3 years ago
She does daily voluntary testing and comes out clean every time. Every single day that she has performed, she has been tested. It's all documented.
cheeseballet 3 years ago
You do realize that the purpose of the steroid industry is to come out with drugs that CAN'T be detected right? Why would any athlete take something that they know doping agencies can catch? Roger Clemens "voluntarily" went to testify before Congress. Doesn't prove anything. If you actually researched some of her "feats" you would know why so many PROFESSIOINAL sportscasters have also voiced doubt. Every story to date with an aging athlete performing at 20's level was tainted with steroids.
tkadri85 3 years ago
You realize that they KEEP her blood as part of the program so that in the future, as tests develop further, they can test it as much as they want, right? That's how the program works.
cheeseballet 3 years ago
You clearly didn't read prior post that I made. Many athletes, such as Andy Petite and Shawne Merriman, were found to have used performance enhancing drugs to heal from injuries that they had. We are speaking of a woman who had three shoulder surgeries and one knee surgery. Had it not been for those surgeries, many would probably find it probable that she could compete at 41, but this is not the case. At the 2006 Masters Nationals she broke a world record THREE WEEKS AFTER HAVING A KID!
tkadri85 3 years ago
So what that does not mean she is taking steroids. Three weeks of steroid use is not going to do much at all. she was swiming while she was preagnant all the time. my brothers gf who had a kid was back to normal in two weeks back to her normal weight and everything after having her kid some people are just geneticly gifted
SullySixx 3 years ago 2
If you even bothered to read what I wrote, I never said that she used steroids in that three weeks after birth. I am suggesting that she used steroids to heal and recover from her numerous surgeries that she had. In one of your statements on here you said that 41 isn't that old. Compared to a person in their twenties, it is.By a person's thirties they are already on the way down as far as their prime is concerned.Men's testosterone(needed for muscle growth) levels start declining. at this age.
tkadri85 3 years ago
The point isn't that she is taking steroids now. She'd be an idiot to with all the attention on her due to her suspicious "comeback." But I, and many others, think she used them to get back into shape. Breaking a world record three weeks after having a kid? Please.
Denial is the most predictable of all human responses. - The Architect.
tkadri85 3 years ago
I agree with tkadri85........besides, many athletes use tiny doses of HGH (1 iu per day for a few months) to heal injuries and speed recovery. Small doses like that are very hard, if not impossible, to detect in blood tests. Many others use injectible IGF-1 for 6 weeks, and then they get off with the muscular gains and healing remaining for indefinite periods. She could have used IGF-1 a year ago and still maintain the results. So many people use that advanced form of HGH now. It's the new THG
mulker47 3 years ago
I understand where you're coming from, but at the same time, with everything stacked against this woman, she has still come out clean and gets tested constantly. Until we have proof otherwise, I don't understand the need to lash out at her.
cheeseballet 3 years ago
I bet Natalie Coughlin isn't too happy that Torres beat her out in the USA Olympic Trials for 50m......I always liked Dara, but I am just saying that I know dozens of 50-year old ex-athletes that use this IGF-1 for 6 weeks, 3 times a year and say they feel like they are 25 years old, waking up with energy and hardly any aches and pains. It does something to your cellular structure. Do a websearch and read about it. It is the new big thing for the past 2 years or so.
mulker47 3 years ago
you are an idot tkadri three weeks of steroid use is not gonna do shit not enough to break a world record grow up. Are just fat and ugly and just cant believe a women as beautiful as her can do what she does at 41 what is it? jealousy?
SullySixx 3 years ago
Once again, learn to read before you open your mouth because it is obvious that you have read none of my post nor researched the events surrounding Dara Torres. You're basically talking out of your ass. I never said that she used steroids just during the three weeks after giving birth. I never stated EXACTLY when she used them, just that it seems probable given the circumstances. Sad that just because honest people want to see honest athletes, that others feel the need to make petty remarks.
tkadri85 3 years ago
I remember George Foreman retiring in 1977 (age 28), coming back in 1987 (age 38) and finally retiring in 1997 (age 48). He was bigger, heavier, but was slower and forced to fight with more strategy and at a slower pace. He had less snap in his punches. He couldn't flurry or push the pace when he was 25. He set up opponents for KO's with timing and ring generalship. But George was nowhere near the specimen he was in his 20's and was noticeably slower. THAT is how older world class athletes age.
mulker47 3 years ago
I meant George couldn't push the pace at age 38 like he did at age 25. Age forced George to fight differently. He won the title back at age 45 but was nowhere near the fighter he was 20 year earlier when Ali beat him in Africa. George admits he had to fight differently when he was older and couldn't push the same pace as when he was younger.
mulker47 3 years ago
tkadri85 you are just one those people that even when the facts smack you right in your face you still cant accept it.SHE DOES NOT USE STEROIDS THERE IS NO STERIOD THAT CANT BE DETECTED.
SullySixx 3 years ago
SullySixx.........do a websearch on IGF-1 and read about this potent form of HGH. People take it for 6 weeks, then reap benefits for months before taking it again. I know so many people that swear by it. I don't know a single person that had tested positive for it. It is not an anabolic steroid, but it is an effective performance enhancing drug. It heals injuries and creates a ripped physique as it supposedly changes your cellular structure.
mulker47 3 years ago
Wrong. This statement in and of itself shows your ignorance. The steroid industry's JOB is to make steroids that can't be detected. Who would buy steroids that they know can be detected? Facts? All I've seen is mindless rambling from you.

Marion Jones tested negative for steroids and now she's in jail. The steroid industry is always a step ahead of the testing agency. What's the point of using steroids if you know that the current testing methods are capable of detecting them?
tkadri85 3 years ago
Lets say your right and she did take steroids way back in what 2006 you say? what does it matter now because she is not taking them now so SHUT YOUR MOUTH
SullySixx 3 years ago
Actually it does matter because the results of steroid use can last long after taking them. Part of the reason that anyone even gives a damn about her is the age at which she is doing this. Most athletes get injured in old age because the body cannot carry the burden that it did in younger years. The same happened to her yet she came back. If she had to use steroids to do it, then their is nothing miraculous about it. She is just another Barry Bonds.
tkadri85 3 years ago
This lady beat out other top notch athletes, at the 2006 Master National, ONE MONTH after having a child. If THAT does not cause one to develop some sort of suspicion then one is a fucking idiot. Also, just because she isn't on roids now, doesn 't mean she never used them. Andy Pettitte used HGH to heal from a joint elbow injury. Hmm. Joint injuries? I believe Torress had three knee surgeries and a rotator cuff surgery. I can't believer there are this many fuckin stupi people in the world.

Boxing blood test and athletes were found using steroids. Blood testing means nothing. You have to realized that the people who make steroids know what testing methods are employed by testing agencies and develop their drugs around it.
tkadri85 3 years ago
Assuming that this woman even could "beat my ass," what does that even have to do with anything?Thesame argument that that dumb bitch janetluke used.I don't like cheaters. They take away from actual hard workers.I don't like any of the high profile athletes found to be using steroids as of recent.Your ad-hominem attacks in no way address the fact that her performance show similar patterns to that of other high profile steroid users.I guess the news commentators who said the same are also jealous.

Please, even if you disagree with me, keep your opinion to yourself and stop slandering this woman's reputation. She is a hero to so many people and has proven time and time again that she has what it takes to be an olympian.
pinkjeans19 3 years ago

Goodbye.

She's just an attention whore who can't accept that her time in the spotlight is over and was willing to do whatever necessary to stay in it.
tkadri85 3 years ago
If you look back at sports during the last fifteen years, more often than not, when a story seemed to good to be true, it was. Something to think about. It's so funny how people were so quick to condemn Barry Bonds when he was accused of steroids with nothing but circumstantial evidence, yet turn a blind eye to Torres. Sheep.
tkadri85 3 years ago
You are a very angry bitter negative person. She volunteered for a program that required her to be tested after every single race. Training techniques, nutrition and overall health of the average 41 yr old woman have dramatically improved in the last 10-20 yrs. If you doped, you still couldn't get to the olympics so shut the fuck up. Don't judge before we have some evidence. Just calm down and stop ranting and raving. Be proud of our American athletes. don't be such an asshole.
janetluke 3 years ago
And you're a dumb naive bitch who's probably divorced with several kids who's dreams in life died a long time ago. I bet when Bonds was accused of steroids, you though he was guilty but because Torres is some old woman like you, you empathize with and defend her blindly. I'm sure you didn't think so highly of all the other athletes, before the were found out, that were found to have been using steroids.
tkadri85 3 years ago
She volunteered for a testing program? So what? Do you know how to read? First, ALL of the athletes indicted in recent years were caught as a result of government raids on drug labs, NOT SPORT-REGULATED TESTING LIKE THE STUFF SHE IS DOING. Nearly every major athlete who dominated their sport in recent years was on steroids. Secondly, just because she volunteered for a program doesn't mean anything. R. Clemens volunteered to testify before Congress to "prove" his innocence.
tkadri85 3 years ago
That's the first thing that an athlete will do if they are suspected of steroids is to make some above-and-beyond move to make people think "Well, there is no way he'd be doing this if he/she was actually on steroids." Naive bitches like you are the reason why guys nowadays don't bother getting married, because they can tell you anythiing to get in you're pants and you'd believe it, though not you specifically as I'm sure you're nothing worth looking at. Old and haggled.

And by the way, if she has used any type of steriod/HGH to heal after her surgeries that sort of thing is carfully monitored by USA Swimming. I realize that where there is a will there is a way for people to get away with drug use and doping but on the national level these things are so carefully regulated THESE DAYS (present tense, not 5, 10, or 20 years ago) that there is no way anyone (especially someone of the age of 40 who people, like yourself, are skeptical of) could get away with it.
pinkjeans19 3 years ago
Marion Jones just got jail time for lying about steroid use. They didn't catch her with testing. Even if she isn't on steroids now, it is highly probable that she used them to recover from the injuries and get the "boost" that she needed to make a comeback. Did you believe Bonds or Clemens or any other found steroid user? If not, then the fact that you believe Torres shows that you are just some blind follower.
tkadri85 3 years ago
I myself know a 46 year old man who came within .04 seconds of getting an olympic trial cut. He does not use steriods, nor has he ever used any other method of artificial enhancement. He trains. He takes it very seriously and because he is older he has to go the extra mile, put in the extra effort, and forge a unique training plan.
pinkjeans19 3 years ago
How do you know if he takes steroids or not. According to a report I saw a couple months ago, the average steroid user is a middle-aged white male. Unless you are this man, you have no way of knowing if he takes steroids or not, and "because he said so" is not proof. So many "reputable" figures in everything from politics to sports to religious figures have been shown to be phony hypocrites. For you to blindly believe someone shows how naive you are.
tkadri85 3 years ago
You are naive, these times are different to 10 - 20 years ago. People are younger, stronger and naturally more fit. We'll see more naturally born winners of older ages than 20s.
oklapi 1 year ago

YTTAMROBBO1 3 years ago
Someone else said it best, but I will try to paraphrase it for you. Many different sports test for drugs, from boxing to football, yet sport-regulated testing has rarely led to the incrimination of athletes. It has usually come as the result of a federal investigation (i.e. Balco). All the athletes that were incriminated in the Balco scandal had tested clean.
tkadri85 3 years ago
Marion Jones DENIED FOR YEARS that she was involved, despite the fact that her former husband said she was, and low-and-behold, he was telling the truth, yet she only admitted it once the Feds found her out. And in the same way that Clemens went to testify befor Congress to "prove" his innocence, the only reason Torres is on that testing committee is to deflect the negative attention coming at her. This is a formula that's been done far too many times. Only naive fools believe her deception.
tkadri85 3 years ago
oh come on...you have to give her and the US Olympic team some credit...Having a baby actually makes many women better athletes due to increased lung capacity needed during pregnancy. I can speak to that personally. USA Swimming does not want the embarassment of doping during the Olympics...I'm sure she has been tested to death. Don't be such an ass. Americans produce fabulous athletes especially since we have the best coaches in the world. Don't be a dick and say such crap.
janetluke 3 years ago
First of all, when you make the claim that America has "the best coaches in the world," you are the one that sounds like a dick. Did you believe Bonds, Clemens, Landis, Giambii, Jones, or any of the other athletes suspected/found guilty of steroids. If not, then why do you believe her?Just because she has been tested means nothing. All of the athletes busted in recent years were found out through federal raids on drug labs, not testing. It is well know that sport-regulated testing is unreliable.
tkadri85 3 years ago
She is an amazing athlete, and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.
BAC104 3 years ago
it is irrational to think she is clean, and there is a young comptetitor out there who lost her spot in the Olympics because of this cheater. So way to go, feminist jerks.
