Also here's a tip for new players who aren't good at comparing "low hand" values:

take your 5 lowest cards, sort them in highest-to-lowest-order. then "convert" every card into a "digit" in a 5-digit number (with Ace="1") e.g. having 2749598 you would keep 27458 and it is "87542". Mathematically speaking, your hand is lower than 87543 so you beat it, but you are higher than 87541 which beats you.
