  • Great video. Concise, intuitive and informative. I know it was made a while ago but it obviously still holds great value. Thank you sir, keep up the good work!

  • My nefues name is Kyle Thompson. I was looking for a xena backround for my template for Youtube.

  • Its weird but my flash content is not visible, and also the regions are editable even though I never marked them as such :S Note that I wasn't in the template file, I was in the .html when I was editing the page. When I rpeview tall the flash content dissapears and I only see the text (Ive defined the website and saved the template)

  • quick question, once web page is sliced up and exported to dreamweaver, in the editable region of the main content area, i can only enter text no more then the exact height of the div tag, I know that I can choose not put any height at all in there, but when I do so my entire webpage gets broken up...any ideas?

  • Thanks that was helpful. easy to follow instructions.

  • There shouldn't be that many editable reigons on your page...

  • no i fixed that :/ now i have another problem... wanna help me? its hard to explain but i can show you!

  • Hi there...I'm new to this. Thrown in the deep end and taking over from our webdesigner. This program looks great. I watched you edit the template just a little and change from bloggers to blogs or whatever...then you went 'save'. I just want to change a few of the tab names, I can go save as or save as template etc, but the 'save' option is just a shadow, in otherwords, it's there but not an option for me to click on? I'll keep checking out your vids in the mean time...thanks

  • nice but wer did u get the template from?

  • awesome video man! Do you think by any chance you could explain how to use the same template for pages within the site that are of different height? In a way that for example, if I have a page that's short with only a few words the page height would be adjusted to the amount of information, and the same process on all the other pages... Thanks a lot!

  • Nicely done Kyle. cheers!

  • Just wanted to say "Thanks Man, that just what I have been looking for". Correct me if I am wrong, but it sounding like templates are the way to go other than css???

Do you find that you mix dwt,css and html up together a lot?

Thanks again and great job on your well spoken and laid out vid.

    Two thumbs up!

  • Whats did u edit your video with?

  • No editing. I used iShowU to capture and a custom app to bring my video on top while i was recording with iShowU.

  • Nice, i finally figured out how to do my school project. this templete thing is annoy when u dont know how to do it

  • this tutorial is one of the best ive seen in my life. 10/10

  • you're too kind. it's been a while since I have made one. you're getting me motivated. thanks.

  • This is the best Dreamweaver tutorial on here. You answered all my questions and it was so plain and simple.

  • it's great to see these people learning from this information. keep building.

  • thanks buddy this is the tutorial that i wanted.... u r a good tutorial thanks alot

thanks alot i have been searching for this template tutorial for a long time...

  • This was alot of help and the best one ive found. Can you make one up for how to make a template from scratch?

  • i agree how to start from scrtach

  • i need 1 too

  • go to adobe website, vid tut'schoose program etc

  • brilliant

  • great and clear illustration! keep it going!

  • Thanks, This helped kinda...

But how do you make the template from scratch? Like do you just add those images what were on the screen?

Oh and what program did you use to film the screen?

  • I started in Fireworks, slice up my images and exported just the images. I then used a starter CSS page in DW and brought my images into the layout. Then saved as a template...

I used iShowU to capture the demonstration.

  • hi kyle, thanks for the vid, but do you think you could make a tutorial showing us how to make the template in the first place? i have got fireworks and dremweaver and have only just had then for a couple of days, i have made my index page which has a flash video and an enter button. i got a firend to do the templates but when i clicked verify the site it came up with loads of errors. so i had to start all over again. do you think you could show us how to make the templates?

  • so going from slicing everything up in Fireworks to creating the layout in Dreamweaver and making a template? Let me know if this is what you are looking for and i can whip something up in the next few days.

  • Hi. Thanks a lot for the tut man. That helped me a lot! Just two (general) questions:

Is there a tool in DW which "breaks" a picture in many pieces?

And second, which analysis are you designing in your templates? 1024x800 for example?

Thanks again man, and sorry for my English! ;)

  • There is no tool in DW that breaks pictures into pieces. You can slice up images and export them out out gif and jpg using Fireworks or Photoshop.

    Have fun.

    Kyle

  • i forgot to answer the second question. The page in the video is 800 X it doesn't matter. if you are designing a fixed width site, i believe the standard width to go by is 750 pixels wide. However more and more people are designing for 1024. it all depends on the audience. if its a technology oriented audience...1024 or bigger...
