glad he didnt try to hold point around 220, that would have sucked. great job with the training, in control and strong will to please the whole time. kurzhaars and drahthaars kick ass!
Everything about this video was perfect. I have little blonde lab that LOVES retrieving on water and stands up like a kangaroo to see where the stick will land in the creek. Then it's like the gates have opened, and she's off like a bullet.
great job with that, from the vid i can say that your dog not only obeys you, but also enjoys it, great bond you've developed with this dog, respect for that
Your dog is so cute!!I have a GSP, there wonderful dogs and wonderful to have as pets. When Louie was following after the two ducks it looked as though he was getting pulled along by them. So cute.
Your dog's nickname should be "SPRINGS" because he gets up there!
Good video my man, very impressive.
I'm currently training my Boxer/Lab mix and hopefully we'll be on your level soon. She's a smart cookie, so I'm just going continue to put in the time as you've done with your dog and try to get on your level.
its amazing to watch how great relationship you and your dog have. i got a dog 4 days ago,but there is a lot of training to do. i hope one day i get it as far with her as you did even tho i dont know how im gonna do that just yet.

I have a beagle but, even though he is somewhat trained, whenever I take him for a walk, he has to be on a leash or he'll just run away...for good! what can I do to go to the beach and just walk with him without the leash? any clues??
what a feel good video. Your connection with your gorgeous dog comes thru just great. Love the jumps and the jumps onto your back, too. Best of luck with your dog.
Great video. I am searching for the right GSP currently. I can only hope I can train the dog to some level even close to this. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.

I went to an outstanding class in WI. I have nothing but good things to say about Thats My Dog! go to thatsmydog, com and click on "school".
I just started my career in dog training as a certified dog trainer and I LOVE it! Where is your training facility located? I would love to find out more about your methods. I am just trying to talk to as many trainers as possible to see what works and what doesn't.
WOW WOW WOW This was BEAUTIFUL work. It was inspiring and exciting. I'm getting a wire fox terrier in May, and I want to train it in a positive way. I'll check into the ecollars, but I definitely want guidance.
I love your video...u have a beautiful GSH. I have a short hair too,he is now a champion in conformation. They are a special breed and you show it in your video right down to the music. GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely Fantastic! I'm a trainer too, and this truly is a joy. Her constant eye contact and eagerness is phenomanol. too bad other "owner" don't envest this much time into their best friend. Be sure to make more clips.
Awsome vid buddy, in the process of purchasing a gsp pup and that really inspired me to teach the dog to the extent that u have taught louie. Hope i can achieve something half as good and ill be happy.
wow! great and intelligent gsp! i can only get my 2 gsps to sit. on is a pup and one is 7 years. the pup also knows how to "give", but the string from her toy gets stuck on her teeth! oh, and FYI, for any dogs who chew like heck, i suggest the"madkitty" from petco. my dogs LOVE it, and they tug and chew on it a lot. it is still standing, suprisingly, since they are such litle rascals!
the dogs are very well trained and i for one wish i could get the same results.GREAT JOB MAN. and thanx for sharring. i have only one question do or have you done this for a living and can it be done by someone with very little experiance?
Davonyn, thanks for the feedback. I do this for a living, but the method itself is very easy to understand and practice. Once you understand why and how to use the collar, your imagination is the only thing that will hold you and your dog back.
Got myself a you tube account just so that I could comment on Louis' video. Watching this makes me feel really happy. Maybe one day my ferdy (5month old weimaraner cross) will be half as good. Maybe.
damn that is awesome! i'm in the process of training mine. i am looking into the ecollar as a tool to help me but i'm just not totally sure about them? i guess i don't have any experience with them so i'm unsure. but great vid, i enjoyed it!!!
You hit the nail on the head! An e-collar is a great tool to use, but it has to be used correctly. I would not suggest that you try to do it yourself, instead I would recommend that you contact a trainer who has experience with e-collars. You can find a list of trainers in your area by going to this site (bear with me, youtube wont allow links posted in comment section) "THATSMYDOG . COM / GRADS . HTM" Good Luck - Paul
Great video, shows just how smart and happy to please this breed is. I've had them most of my life and love every GSP I've ever met. In your video, we can clearly see the dog's focus is on the ball in your hand. They really respond to the positive rienforcement it provides. I was wondering if you could comment on how using a shock collar benefits the training.
arthursteid, thank you for the feedback, I love the GSP's too! To answer your question, I am simply using the remote training collar as a prompt for him to pay attention to me and the commands I'm giving. The ball is a just a prop to help maintain eye contact, which can eventually be removed.
Thanks for responding to my question. The reason I asked is because it looks like, because of the ball you do have his undivided attention. At any rate, thanks for the great video that shows others just how much these dogs can achieve when properly schooled. Now, if you could just teach them not to slobber....
Wow, incredible! The trainer's time and dedication invested in this dogs really shines through. Thank you for sharing.

Do you have a favorite book that you can refer or inspirational trainer that you follow?
Thanks! This video made my day! :)
