the song was on gta sa tracks becausew the time in the game was in the same period as this song was in the charts but that doesn t matter gta doesn t have anything to do with this song this song is a big grunge hit
I remember back in the 90's I heard this song so many times on the radio that I almost hated it. Around 2004 they stopped playing it entirely and I was like "I really want to hear Plush"
sister, i promise i wouldnt have ever left you alone, this is you in the video, litterally, im so sorry gwendolyn, the world of evil has always been agianst us, sister, im still walking tall.
Why the fuck was i growing up in the 90's, i remember these songs but wasnt old enough to appreciate them until now when im in my 20's, the 90's grunge/sludge sound was the best for sure.
OK enouigh of this Pearl Jam STP war they're both good in their own way and yes I know I may get knocked cause of my user name but I listen to everything
This, Interstate Love Song, and Sour Girl are my favorite Stone Temple Pilots songs. And in my opinion, this, Interstate Love Song, and Sour Girl are their best songs. STP made a believer out of me.
this video was shot at the ridgectest motel in federal way washington suburb of seattle i was managing said motel when asked if they could shoot a video there i thought it might be good for biz met a b.sed with the band they had just been touring with megadeath.

But when I heard it for the first time on 5:1 dolby surround stereo stereo, I went weak at the knees and nearly wet my self..........
This song I will still be listening to when I am 100.....
It's the voice! The sounds and tones and vibrations..mmmmmmmmmmmm!
God loves you, and whoever believes that Jesus Christ the Son of God died for their sins, was buried and rose again will have eternal life in Heaven. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,” - Acts 16:31
@JesusPaid4You Yes, he loves us, but he cannot save us from our failures. We save or condemn ourselves--write the fate of our next lifetime--by our actions, which accumulate into our karmic destiny.
Other than deep voices, not alot musically im common with Pearl Jam. Id say STP had more in common with AIC. But tbh, STP did more consistent albums than both artists, so fuck them.
@leuma5am see i don't know, i am not big into either band but at a glance they are pretty similar, i like pearl jam as well, but if i knew as little about PJ as i do about those 2 then i would confuse all 3 of them...........creepy singer, morose songs
Omg, I remember when this video came out. ROcked my world! Alternative Nation on MTV was playing it and I stopped what I was doing and just stood there amazed and my brain was totally rocked out. Started jamming in my room and scraped my pennies together afterwards to get the cassette the next day.
So to anyone who wants to compare STp to Pearl Jam: Different cities, different sounds. Pearl Jam was spawned from mother love bone which found its way from Green River which found its way from Heart. So, why don't you just all shut the f--- up, enjoy some dreamboat annie and those that followed and quit talking like you know a goddamn thing about music.
@tlucius7513 Wiki'd it just for you brah- (from Wikipedia): "Scott Weiland said on The Howard Stern Show that the band's name was inspired by a carving in an ancient temple that depicts a man in a small flying ship, a reference to ancient aliens."
People aren't dumb for saying they thought this was Peal Jam. I remember when I was a kid even people were saying that, and you know it's kinda true. The record companies chose similar sounding bands, packaged it as "grunge" and we ate it up.
To everyone saying STP copied Pearl Jam, STP was formed in 86 and Pearl Jam was formed in 90 after Andrew Wood from Mother Love Bone OD. So learn your history of music before you make an ass of yourself. I love all those late 80s/90s grunge bands.
@tigers3321 Good comment, i dont really think STP copied any other band... the comparisons were just because of the whole 90´s "alternative rock scene" both bands are great in their own rigth, and its just amazing that theyre still going and can get new young fans and influence people to make rock music that is worthy of listening.
you can only claim that in retrospect if you came to the music decades after it was happening...if you were there when it was happening, you dont give a shit about things like who came first
@tigers3321 yeah, but STP didn't have any real mainstream success until they released the "Core" album, a whopping six years after they formed and a year after Pearl Jam released "Ten" and Nirvana released "Nevermind".
Does that make them awful? I don't think so, they just wanted to be along for the grunge explosion, as a result, the "Core" album peaked in the Billboard charts. But when I hear this song on the radio I constantly mistake it for Pearl Jam, obviously, one asks why the song does.
@Volts48 and the answer is, well, their album was joining along with the grunge theme. But unlike a majority of those other grunge bands that were coming out around the time, these guys weren't stationed in Seattle.
But to fair, at least Stone Temple Pilots isn't Creed or a lot of those other pale imitators that started coming around post-grunge. They're not the first band that comes to my mind when I think of grunge but I have nothing against them either.
i agree dlefik. The new rock has no punch and the bands have no staying power. this music really did shatter the mold of progressive, metal, and hairband music that dominated. Too bad they burned out on drugs and not music.
damn good song and video. no matter how many times music changes nowadays, the feeling will never be the same as when music like this hit the airwaves.
Accused by many critics of being nothing more than rip-off artists, pilfering from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains, the band nevertheless became major stars in 1993. And the influences of those bands are apparent in their music, but Stone Temple Pilots do manage to change things around a bit.
@TheChirpingAssholes Some people make a genre popular others explore and expand the genre they are already in. STP was the latter, Nirvana and PJ were the former. Either way it's whatever you like. Myself, personally, I liked Core ALOT but I also liked the progression of the music that STP had through their next couple albums.
In the end all music is a copy in someway from someone else. That's just how it goes.
All the comments about where people heard this song the first time....why is that so important? As long as people know this song and know this awesome band then it's not important where people first heard it.
people thought that they copy pearl jam they do sound like em a little but i think theyre still amazing just really started listening to em yesterday :)
Unlike the younger people on here, I found out about this song when I was at a local coffee shop for Open Mike and the people who went up played a few songs...this was one. I was captivated.
It's just the hipster mentality that is popular. No one really cares about how you learned it they just want that "cool" feeling by liking it in a "superior" way. Same thing as everyone hating on something that is popular like a band going main stream (different from selling out and changing their style for money) or hating someone like Beiber even if you haven't ever listened just because it is the common scapegoat of hate. It is all just what people do. Great song, thanks for sharing.
