As an analytical and experimental process, I think it's interesting, although the actual function and aesthetic values don't seem to be really marketable.
I'd suggest a one way valve with an overflow release (not just walk 200m for a 7sec rest) so one can sit and actually read the damn book.
I somewhat wonder what the "self-sustainable" part in this project is - it's a dress with many (partly useless) elements. Material looks like Tyvek® which is breathable.
It needs more real life scenario.

i think it would be easier to walk in if the pumps were flipped around so your heel touches the ground and the front of your foot pumps downward...like actually walking. that looks annoying.
