I was on my way to a private preview of Rambo II in the West End and walking ahead of me was the most fantastic arse on a young blonde. George Best played with a heavier ball than they use today, the pitch conditions were bad, and football boots didn't make you lightning quick or have a harder shot or whatever the label said. If George was the best in these conditions there's no way the likes of Ronaldo and Messi could be compared to him
Best could almost be described as a footballing revolutionary. He brought skills and finesse to the game which had never before been seen in the UK. It is impossible to compare different players from different generations playing under different circumstances (Pele, Cruyff, Best, Maradonna, Messi etc). I think it's fair to say though George was the greatest talent the UK or Ireland has ever produced. Great vid by the way : )

@bogdychamp Don't want this to be a messi/ronaldo debate. Messi ghosts past some of the best defenders like they're not even there. Ronaldo is a perfect all-round player.. but Messi's lower centre of gravity allows him to turn faster and keep better control of the ball. Much like Maradona or Bestie.
I totally agree with you. But since CR is a better all-round player, how come you think Messi is better ??? To be the best ever , you have to be a good all-round player.
When Messi will be older, he will loose his speed and won't be able to dribble anymore.By the way his dribble is too simple to impress me,he just runs with the ball.

There are a lot of players with low center of gravity that can like him.
@bogdychamp Messi has scored as many headers in Champions League finals as Ronaldo. You obviously over rate Ronaldo to say he's the greatest ever. He's a showboat that can shoot.. nothing more. I'd rather have a 26 year old Giggs or Scholes again than Ronaldo back because they were loyal team players. Messi has been the best player to watch over the past 3 years for me and many others.

All United clips.... I was listening to the football ramble and was trying to find a clip of george playing for Northern Ireland against Holland. In this match he apparently wanted to nutmeg Cruyff, so got the ball on the wing, turned backwards towards his own goal and dribbled in towards the middle, rounded three Dutch players so he could get to Cruyff, dropped the shoulder and nutmeged him. Legend!!
Maradonna was not as good as Best,short , chubby and dived a lot, Pele never had the speed or balance of Best, Maradonna called Best his idol, and Pele on British TV in the eighties said George was the best player he saw, ill add the link if anyone interested. George came from Northern Ireland , a country with a small population, if he played for England in a world cup, people today will be saying Maradonna who? Pele who? I am not Irish or British to say I am biased ,but a legend is a legend.

I think if George had shared the ball more with his team mates he would have been a much better player and taken to a high level.
It would have allowed hiim to focus his skills and finish in a more effective and potent way.
better to 1 - 2 the ball than to work around a defender.
The only place dribbling can be justified and not be not be selfish is in the penalty box.

Messi has no header abilities,he sucks at free kicks,he can't score from distance.
