The leaders of both parties are liars and are destroying the country. On the one issue that Obama could have come through on that he ran on to get elected, the Iraq war, he completely bailed. The only thing that I can see that Obama is doing different than Bush is he is being less arrogant when communicating with other countries. Both parties leaders don't care about us, they care about themselves and their buddies. The rich get richer, while lie to the people.
You're probably (or would probably be, if you're unaware) a critic of coups and dictators in Central America (e.g. Zelaya, Pinochet) yet you can easily concede the popularity and benefit of a Roman emperor.
Anyone who would trust someone that has power over you, especially the mass wave of emotional popular support for the Bama, is just clueless. I believe the sentiment in 1776 was that the government should fear the electorate, not the other way around.
"Rule for 60 years"... you make that sound like a good thing. If you're a partisan Democrat, then you truly are close-minded. That party (and the GOP) do not serve your interests. Plus you make it sound like Rome - as if a benevolent Octavian or Caesar is "ruling." What a dope.
