  • God Save The Kinks !!

  • This and God's Children .. classic ,..weird to think this came out right around muswell time ,,..but it did ,..

  • Song writing and music at its most beautiful and emotional best.

  • Beautiful....

  • Simple and majestic

Another RD song which has stood the test of time.

Royal Festival Hall June 2011 truly magic moments.

  • Ray performed this live at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday evening as part the finale to the Meltdown festival - a truly magical moment.

  • A simple, and brilliant song from Ray. The arrangement is terrific... as always, less is more.

  • I love the arrangement of this song, it is simply perfect.

  • The Kinks were one of the greatest British bands to ever sail the record blue. It's too bad that they did not gain more notoriety than they did. I don't think even I at the time appreciated them as much as I should have.

  • The Kinks "are" One of the Most popular bands of all time. Silly. To musicians, they are the Greatest band of all time - Period ! End of Story ! Everybody rips off the kinks to write song parts - from the Who Tommy to lame shit like Green day ... to virtually everybody !

  • one of those songs that should be on your "most underrated (or unrecognized) of all time" lists.

  • I listened to this tune 4 or 5 times in a row in the car today. Glad it's posted on here so I can hear it again.

  • meine favoriten...the kinks....

  • Anybody have chords for this?

  • For me the kinks are in the same class like The Beatles, The Who, The Stones....sorry for my bad english!!!

  • So beautiful.

  • Back in 1971 when I was 15 or 16 I got in to the cinema to see "Percy", a comedy "x" film about a guy who had his manhood cut off by a falling chandelier I believe, and The Kinks did the sound-track to the film. I heard this track and it just blew me away and I have remembered it to this day despite never hearing it since, and only recently found out what it was called. The Kinks were the first band I ever got into back in '64. Ray Davies you the best!!!

  • Fragile and great.

  • IMMENSE

  • the art of simplicity = beauty

  • Two minutes of such beauty. I would love to hear this played live with an orchestra.

  • @WilburyVision the instrumental versions on the album are stunning

  • yes Ray and the Kinks deserve more attention compared to overrated hype like Michael Jackson and U2 and Elton John and all those hideous members of the music establishment - if they wrote a song as good as this they would be milking it for decades

  • The KINKS are one of the best bands in the universe ---ever and ever and ever !

  • ray davies is a genius, suffers badly with depression , been hospitalised many time s. maddness an genius ray is on that thin line, i to suffer depression an the kinks have lifted me from disppear , thanks ray an the boys

  • God, the fact that The Kinks are not one of the most popular bands of all time will never cease to amaze and baffle me! They deserve so much more credit than they get!

  • Yeah, I agree completely to this!

  • @DaigoMoustache

yeah, and its a shame that when they are mentioned in the discussion of great bands people just point to "you really got me" as if they were some one hit wonder. theres so much that goes unappreciated.

  • Yes, I agree! People always refer to them as "a great singles band", as though their hits were their only good songs, and that everything else was just filler. This is far from the truth! They made so many amazing, solid albums that deserve to be mentioned right alongside classics like "Rubber Soul" and "Aftermath".

  • @DaigoMoustache I would put "Word of Mouth", "Arthur", Village Green P.S." and "Something Else" along side any album by the Beatles, Stones or Who. And if anyone still wanted to write them off as a "singles band" I would ask what it meant when a single song was more moving than anything off an entire LP...by anyone.

  • One of Ray Davies' most beautiful songs.

  • How lovely. Thank you. :-)

  • Stunning!

  • simple and yet so beautiful - all the things that love should be. thank you for sharing this wonderful song.

  • Very nice.
