I heard this today for the first time on 6Music, without knowing who was playing. I was sure it was some unheard Neu! or something else from the 70's and from Germany, maybe with Michael Rother playing guitar. I love it
I think this music was used years ago for a Pacific Bell commercial. I believe Susan Sarandon narrated and this ad showed different places and people of California. The tag line was something like - "today was a good day in California, tomorrow will be better." They were neat commercials.
Ah yes, "Otis" by The Durutti Column is an excellent piece of music. I remember stumbling across an old, marred CD in my house called 24 Hour Party People. I had no idea that it was a soundtrack until actually seeing the film many years later. Anyway, I clearly remember this song along with contributions from the Buzzcocks, Joy Division, and others. I can so identify with the line, "another sleepless night for me." This song and others opened my eyes to the possibilities of music. Great vid
Everytime I'm depressed or mentally exhausted, I hear this song. Then suddenly I turn a smile on and I'm happy to be living.

In case anyone is wondering, the vocal samples come from Otis Redding's "Pain in my Heart" and Tracy Chapman's "Behind the Wall".

The opening lines of Otis were once used in an AT&T commercial and featured Tom Selleck doing voiceover.
