REX is the same one you destroyed in MGS1, reactivated by Otacon.

The RAY you see is neither the original that Ocelot stole nor a mass-produced version. While it has the features of the mass-produced (rounded knees and a shorter tail) it still has to be piloted. Ocelot had this one made as his personal RAY, while several improved mass-produced automated RAYs were also made. All of these RAYs in MGS4 have the Ouer Haven logo as opposed to Arsenal Gear or Marines.

REX didn't blow up. Snake fought it, won, and it collapsed. Then Houseman tried to bomb the island, but Solidus/Sears stopped him. So it just sat on Shadow Moses for a few years until they needed its rail gun.

Umm actually ur wrong. Rising isnt the fifth game. It should even count as a MGS since it wont have snake. Kojima said himself that there IS NO MGS5. U dont see Metal Gear Solid 5 rising. Or Metal gear Solid 5 Peace walker. He said that if there was gonna be a fifth game it would be peace walker.

The Ray with the Tail is the Marines prototype version. In MGS2, Arsenal Gear had a f*ckload of AI-controlled Mass-production Navy Rays onboard that had no Tail, among other small modifications. This here is another version of the (tailed) prototype Ray. It has features of both the AI-controlled Rays (no tail, rounded knees) and the prototype (two sensor eyes, pilot's cockpit).

It`s Because in MGS2 the RAY`s you fight were mass produced, If you remember near the end, there`s still one RAY that is taken by Liquid Ocelot and thats the original, whose armor is impregnable by normal attacks

DArkness is right. The reall Ray is "two" timmes bigger then Rex, and the real Ray also has a large tail aswell.

The ones Raiden fought were smaller copies, who weren't piloted either. The one Liquid uses is a new version of Ray, that is smaller, but as strong as the "reall" one.

If you look closely, you'll see the tail has been cut off near the body.

If you actually LOOK then you'll notice that the RAy Liquid uses is just as big as REX, and the Marine RAY in MGS2 is TW TIMES BIGGER then REX.... So no it is not the one from MGS2.

Where are you getting your information that the "real" RAY is two times bigger than REX? Where in MGS2 do you ever see RAY and REX next to each other to make such a comparison?

The only RAY capable of being operated manually was the original Marines model. Ocelot escaped at the end of MGS2 WITH the original Marines model. There's asbolutely nothing in MGS4 to make us believe that Ocelot had a new RAY built, when there was nothing wrong with the old one, aside from having lost most of its tail

Actually, the Navy built Arsenal Gear and the mass-produced RAYS, under the orders of the Patriots. It was "hijacked" by Solidus Snake in MGS2, although in reality, the Patriots let him think he stole it, so they could conduct the S3 Project.

And in any case, if Ocelot has so much money and "contacts" out there, how difficult do you think it'd be to simply change the logo to say 'OUTER HAVEN'?

No, it would not be that difficult, and probably detaching the tail would not be either, so there is some validity to that thought. However, I realize there's a few things left unclear about what happened in the time frame between MGS2 and MGS4 that aren't expressly mentioned. :/ Maybe something happened to the Marines RAY, or not. Snake did attach a tracker on that model when he jumped from Arsenal Gear. What do you assume happened?

the ray used by ocelot is the same as the mass produced rays in arsenal gear in mgs2 (no tail, round knees, no olive drab camo though or army insignia) it isn't a custom ray for lidquid at all... the only difference is it has "outer haven" on one of its legs. your right though, it is different from the prototype ray with the marines insignia from the tanker chapter of mgs2. hope i helped in some way.

Wouldn't you think, now that Ocelot isn't necessarily himself in this game due to Hypnotic Suggestion to impersonate Liquid's desires, that Liquid wanted his own model as well? After all it was his idea to renew Big Boss's dream of Outer Heaven, and considering the fact that Liquid's personality is almost like a spoiled brat that wants everything I wouldn't doubt he had one built just for him.

"Liquid" had no interest in a Metal Gear anymore. But let's assume for a moment that he did want a new Metal Gear. Why would he have a RAY unit constructed, when RAY at that point is an outdated model? Surely, he could come up with something more advanced.

In any case, if it WERE a new model, it wouldn't be called RAY. It'd be RAY Mk. II or something like that. In the history of the Metal Gear games, I don't believe any new Metal Gear has ever been given the same exact name as an older model.

There were a bunch of rays built for protecting the Ark in MGS4, he surely had one built during that time.

There's also a difference in MGS2 RAY from its thighs. In the ending video for the Tanker chapter, that RAY has sharper knees, if you will, than the one in MGS4. In MGS4 the knees are rather squared off. Have a look at both of them and see for yourself.

If he didn't, then fine. Either way, I'm glad this game is open to interpretations like this.
