@MexiEmpleadoCorrupto Nope this song is Pure 70's Disco. Earth, Wind, And Fire brought this sound into the 80s, but Disco was pretty much dead not long after that. Ohio Players, Wild Cherry, O'Jays, Jackson Five, Tavares, KC & Sunshine Band, and the Brothers Gibb(BeeGees/Saturday Night Fever) that kept so many on their feet at Studio 54.
God Bless Jimmy Ellis, he is no longer performing. If you ever heard him sing live than you have been blessed with an incredible soulful booming voice. He is missed but the real Trammps Stan & Doc Wade, R. Upchurch and Dave Dixon carry on without him. Check them out!!!!
@Astraeos13 Your IGNORANT racist remarks are uncalled for... You might want to try reading the Bible and finding God... Music has no color.... Never did and never will....
@muzicjudge What are you talking about? I'm white, and as such, I'm perfectly entitled to object to seeing shots of vulgar, fat, white, middle-class American audiences, because they offend me. Sorry, there's nothing ignorant about saying so, nor is there anything 'racist'. It's a matter of taste. As for your idiotic Bible, and your even more idiotic 'God' (who doesn't exist, btw), try reading it for once yourself and you'll learn the real meaning of the word "racism", and ignorance.
The Trammps featuring Earl Young (in this PBS video) are appearing live on Saturday Oct 16, 2010 at Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort Atlantic City NJ. Its Disco Ball 9 and Gloria Gaynor, Sister Sledge, Santa Esmeralda starring Leroy Gomez, Rob Parrisi of Wild Cherry, Peaches And Herb, Musique, Linda Clifford, Anita Ward, Rose Royce, Original Performance Group of Lime, Original Village People Cowboy Randy Jones & Sugar Hill Gang. The show is hosted by Smokin Joe Frazier & Joe Causi.
I didnt say Jimmy Ellis passed away NO WAY !! ..we lost his GREAT VOICE..he has the beginning stages of alzheimers and is not doing shows because he forgets the words..hes alive and well down south ! :-)
This is Earl Youngs Trammps, they suck. My roommate is Rusty, the Bass player for the REAL Trammps with Jimmy Ellis , Bobby Upchurch , Doc & Stanley Wade and many of the original guys..getting older but arent we all ..Earl young was the Bass singer & Drummer . Unfortunately we just lost the great voice of Jimmy Ellis to Alzheimers recently.

Jimmy Ellis is alive and well, I meant we lost his great voice during shows . He is in the beginning stages of alzheimers and forgets the words so hes not touring..he was just singing at Bobby Upchurchs Birthday Party a month or so ago,,he came up from his home down south

Yes, and the performance with the original lead was SO much more powerful. I was glad that TJ Lubinsky from PBS decided to bring in the originals. They also improved the sound of the band. Something is missing from this one.
Always one of my favorites!!! The "house band" played this song when my opponent and I were walking to the ring at the 1980 St. Louis Golden Gloves Boxing Finals (29 years ago???)....wow. Arguably the best disco song of all time.
Only richard upchurch is in this clip, he has his own band which plays trammps songs. The original trammps have their own band (Jimmy Ellis, Stanley Wade, Harold "doc" Wade and David Dixon)
I'm from Cleveland Ohio. I cannot believe its been 30 years since Disco. It seems like 5 years ago. When I do the math I guess if someone was 30 back then they would be in their 60s now. Unbelievable!
I was out clubbing in Philly when they were out. They appeared a lot and performed and I even got to know them from one club I was a vip memmber. This is NOT Jimmy Ellis and the Trammps. The Trammps began in Philadelphia in 1972 featuring vocalist, Jimmy Ellis, Harold Doc Wade, Stanley Wade and Earl Young and traveled with as many as 11 members!
Great song butchered by this group using a famous name. What a pity!
Terrible version of te best disco group to come out. Where is the musicians? WOW that key board is corny as hell too Kills the whole song. If that's the original vocals they better serch for replacements FAST....
The Trammps featuring Earl Young are playing Half Hollow Hills East High School in Dix Hills, Long Island, NY on Oct.18 . Harold Melvin's Blue Notes, Tavares, Carol Douglas, Carol Williams & Sammy Sax and the MDs are all on the same show.

I just read The Trammps featuring Earl Young are playing the DJ Times 20th Anniversary of The International DJ Expo at Resorts Casino Atlantic City, NJ on Tuesday August 12th. I will be there.
You don't know what your talking about. The original Trammps (all the original members) haven't been together in 30 years. Since when is Dave Dixon an original member? Both groups touring now---The Trammps and The Trammps featuring Earl Young are good live groups. And all this trash talk is stupid. Get over it.
Indeed. They sound cheap, they are not investing money on stage production. They need live song arrangement if they want to be on par with all the bands that are reuniting these days. Look at Journey 2008 for instance.
not the original Trammps who still travel though the world with, the Trammps, original members, Jimmy Ellis, Harold Doc Wade, Stanley Wade and Dave Dixon. The Trammps tour nationally and internationally with musicians from the original touring group.
Go fuck yourselves motherfuckers! You north american are so fucking stupid ! Why don't you go eat the pussy of you mother and suck your dad's dick motherfucker racists. fuck yourselves.

The lowlife to the left of the keyboard player is a thug by the name of Antwon Young. He is probably somewhere dodging the law as we speak. This lowlife has a bad temper and is the type of guy who would sell his mother out to save his own ass.
If any law enforcement is looking for this motherfucker, I hope you catch up with him soon. This guy is a real menace to society and should be taken out in the middle of the night, horse whipped, stripped butt naked and then shot. fucking nigger.

You miss the whole point..They are keeping the music alive. It's awesome music. Be cool.

Jimmy Ellis will always be the best lead for this group. He still sounds the same nowadays, too bad he's not on this clip. Neither is Earl Young (the drummer/bass singer.)

Oh, Earl Young is the "hype-man" here. He's second from left.
