@Nightversionn Haha, "oil company shill"? Dude, I'm an English teacher. But I model on the side, so I most certainly do eat right and exercise -- it's a fair wager that I'm far healthier than you and will outlive you.
Second: Is this how you dismiss any argument you don't agree with -- you just decide that the person who said it is a shill? That's immature and shows a weakness with your own argument. Do other people always just call you a green shill/sock puppet? Grow up.
@1imesub I'm a picture of health. Low cholesterol, BMI right in the middle, and getting plenty of fiber to ward off cancer. But if I must martyr myself to undo the elitism of people like you (the real cancer), I do so proudly!
@1imesub Yeah, because your comment doesn't sound arrogant at all! /sarcasm.
As for foolishness -- what's with this "eating death" thing? Do you only eat plants that are still alive? Would eating meat be okay provided that you only feasted on still-living organisms? Or is "eating death" just an empty catchphrase that you use to vilify people who don't share your culture (and on irrelevant fora), and never mind that it doesn't really make sense?
@hayesism You have a low intelligence quota. Most corpse eaters do. In fact, vegetarians have, on average, 5 points high IQ's than those who consume death.
@1imesub As for the IQ difference, you should read more. I assume you're referring to the U.S'ton 2006 study, which revealed no difference in the IQs of vegetarians and omnivores. Rather, it said that the former had 5 points higher AS CHILDREN only. As adults the scores normalised (this happens a lot, eg identical twins).
The study also emphasised that correlation doesn't mean causation, suggesting higher social class as the most likely cause. Elitism again!
@hayesism It's true what you've been told, vegetarianism is a great help to the planet, especially it helps with global warming, to a very large extent.
I believe it's true also what someone has written, vegetarians are probably on average smarter

Google: BEYOND THE IVORY TOWER The Scientific Consensus on Climate Change
Many details about climate interactions are not well understood, and there are ample grounds for continued research to provide a better basis for understanding climate dynamics. Climate scientists have repeatedly tried to make this clear.

I hope comrade Simplex1 has not been jailed, or hospitalized.
@ReduceGHGs OK I watched The Denial Machine. I do not consider PBS an objective organization. AT ALL. I do listen to a few shows on NPR but I have never seen an episode of Frontline. I have heard Beck spoof them on his show a few times and after watching I am amazed at just how ACCURATE they were. The host sounds like a smart ass 11 year old. It was obvious who was being ATTACKED in this show. There was no objectivity at all. ...and BTW. People draw BIG salaries from NPO's. Ask a televangelist.
@frogsoda What they discussed is well supported. At least one of the same "experts" for the tobacco industry is now babbling for vested oil interests.
Who gives a rip what glen beck says? You? Lol!

Denial may keep you from objectively considering this issue but it won't change the facts.
Gore has been telling us what the experts have been saying for years. None of this is his idea.
EVERY respected scientific institution that considered the issue concurs... We humans are warming the planet by burning fossil fuels and clearing the land. Scientists don't BACK him. CO2 is a part of our atmosphere, it belongs there. You're believing data on just 10 years. Step back 50 and you'll see that Gore is full of shit.
@AzBirdDog Yes, EVERY respected scientific institution that considered the issue. Are you laughing because it's amusing that you can't prove me wrong? Let's have it MORE OFF.
@AzBirdDog: That is simply incorrect. The institutions described as "Respected Scientific..." are, in fact, respected scientific institutions. For example; 'Nature', the publishing group which produces peer-reviewed scientific magazines (Such as Scientific American, Kidney International, etc.) and peer-reviewed scientific journals (Such as the British Journal of Cancer, The Journal of Antibiotics, and Nature [which is one of the two most prestigious journals on the planet]).
@BoojumFed Respected because they'll know that if they follow along, they'll be getting funding MONEY?
Respect who you want, buddy. I don't give respect to people just because they hold a high position.
Especially when they approve of things like climate change, and the papers given to them for proof only go back 10 to 15 years.
I don't let people spoon feed me bullshit, I go out and learn myself by reading all the information. Not just bits and pieces chosen by people who will profit by it.

Carbon is the second most effective heat-absorbing gas in our atmosphere (behind water vapor). More carbon being emitted into the atmosphere means more heat is held in. Globing Warming is extremely simple science and I don't understand why people don't get it.

News: Biggest jump ever seen in global warming gases
.
The global output of heat-trapping carbon dioxide jumped by the biggest amount on record, the US Department of Energy calculated, a sign of how feeble the world's efforts are at slowing man-made global warming.

Google: BEYOND THE IVORY TOWER The Scientific Consensus on Climate Change
Many details about climate interactions are not well understood, and there are ample grounds for continued research to provide a better basis for understanding climate dynamics. The question of what to do about climate change is also still open. But there is a scientific consensus on the reality of anthropogenic climate change. Climate scientists have repeatedly tried to make this clear.
Some just dont WANT to hear.

@ReduceGHGs Almost all of us that are for implementing carbon taxes on the fascists in the US, to stop global warming and begin the green great cooling cycle are communists. Comrade Simplex1, who you will find on almost every one of our bgs trying to save the planet has disappeared. Comrade Simplex1 used to discuss green revolutionary techniques using one of our favorite books The Handbook For Radicals, with some of my comrades. I hope comrade Simplex1 has not been jailed, or hospitalized.

Google: The Denial Machine Video PBS Frontline
ReduceGHGs 3 months ago
@ReduceGHGs OK I watched The Denial Machine. I do not consider PBS an objective organization. AT ALL. I do listen to a few shows on NPR but I have never seen an episode of Frontline. I have heard Beck spoof them on his show a few times and after watching I am amazed at just how ACCURATE they were. The host sounds like a smart ass 11 year old. It was obvious who was being ATTACKED in this show. There was no objectivity at all. ...and BTW. People draw BIG salaries from NPO's. Ask a televangelist.
frogsoda 3 months ago
@frogsoda What they discussed is well supported. At least one of the same "experts" for the tobacco industry is now babbling for vested oil interests.
Who gives a rip what glen beck says? You? Lol!
Why not read what the respected scientific bodies have been saying for years. They all agree that we humans are warming the planet. If you can find more reliable sources please send me a link.
Denial may keep you from objectively considering this issue but it won't change the facts.

The so-called "Embassment" is al "scam-man" gore.
He would profit if this legislation was passed.
He got called on it.
Did Captain Planet tell anybody of his "partnership" with those companies who would benefit?
Well no, Opie, he never did. Hmm. I wonder why?
Most likely because he wouldn't be able to succeed.
The scientists who back his scam, have they bought stock in those companies?
Well Opie, I would have to think that Al turned them onto this SCAM TO GET THEIR BACKING!
AzBirdDog 3 months ago
@AzBirdDog
Gore has been telling us what the experts have been saying for years. None of this is his idea.
EVERY respected scientific institution that considered the issue concurs... We humans are warming the planet by burning fossil fuels and clearing the land. Scientists don't BACK him. He uses that they have concluded. You aren't dumb enough to think that this was all Gore's idea, are you? If so, it's time for a REALITY CHECK!
Google: Science News Arctic ice floes said thinnest in years
ReduceGHGs 3 months ago
@ReduceGHGs Every scientific institution? LOL, yeah, sure. That's why other scientific institutions are willing to take this matter to court. LOL try selling ypur bullshit some place else.
Gore won't debate this because there are pretty HUGE names in the scientific community who'll make him and his backers look like fools!
CO2 is a part of our atmosphere, it belongs there. You're believing data on just 10 years. Step back 50 and you'll see that Gore is full of shit.
He owns stock in this, moron!
AzBirdDog 3 months ago
@AzBirdDog Yes, EVERY respected scientific institution that considered the issue. Are you laughing because it's amusing that you can't prove me wrong? Let's have it MORE OFF.
ReduceGHGs 3 months ago
@ReduceGHGs Gore owns stock in companies that will flourish of this bullshit Global Warming legislation takes place.
Gore will make money if he has his way on this.
The most basic of minds can see this. I ask you, why can't you?!?
You will pay more taxes to fund companies who Gore is partnered with.
Didn't you watch and listen to the video?!?
Gore, "Oh sure. I'll make millions. But that's not why i'm pushing for this legislation. Who cares if I'm gonna reap untold millions?"
Get a brain, idiot!
AzBirdDog 3 months ago
@AzBirdDog Gore may be YOUR problem. He is NOT the source of the science. Did you think he was? LMFAO!
Try reading what NAS, NASA, AAAS, SOCC, AIP, NCAR, AGU, and all the others say.
I noticed you didn't provide any EVIDENCE to back up your babble. As expected.

@AzBirdDog Did I watch the video? OMG! Did you eat the book?

@ReduceGHGs You are just so out of touch with reality, it's stupid. LOL
Everything you say comes straight out of gore's mouth, it's pathetic.
When you say, "Respected Scientific....", you should be saying "Sold Out Scientific institution."
Every one of those that you mention, nasa, nas, aaas, socc and so on, will be MONEY FOR FUNDING on this legislation, CAPTAIN FUCK-TARD!
Don't you get it? Or are you seriously THAT FUCKING STUPID?!?
Of course they're going to back gore, THEY WANT MONEY!
DUH!!

@AzBirdDog .
Still can't come up with a reasonable argument? How come?
ReduceGHGs 3 months ago
@AzBirdDog: That is simply incorrect. The institutions described as "Respected Scientific..." are, in fact, respected scientific institutions. For example; 'Nature', the publishing group which produces peer-reviewed scientific magazines (Such as Scientific American, Kidney International, etc.) and peer-reviewed scientific journals (Such as the British Journal of Cancer, The Journal of Antibiotics, and Nature [which is one of the two most prestigious journals on the planet]).
BoojumFed 3 months ago

It's an odd sensation to watch a glacier die, the snow sliding off the massive black cliffs, punctuated with the cracks of big ice blocks falling away. The Mountain Institute has been doing just that, the last couple of days, watching the scenes at Imja Lake.

@adda241 I guess I'm going to have to agree with you, manmade climate change has nothing to do with politics or any YouTube video.
It's just reality and it will hit us no matter what anyone wants to say about.
Only matters what we do or don't do to fix it, insofar as it can be fixed at this late point

1thatisilluminated 4 months ago
@1thatisilluminated That's known as "seasons". You know, how the world gets colder at winter and hotter at summer? It has NOTHING to do with Global Warming. Global Warming shows that the AVERAGE temperature on earth is increasing year-by-year.
Kjellarnek 4 months ago
@Kjellarnek The truth of the matter is that the earth is getting colder. Even if we did nothing with polution and Carbon the temperature might go up by only 1 celsius!
1thatisilluminated 4 months ago

This is such an inconvienant truth for Al Gore. Dr. Ivar Giaever, former professor with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the 1973 winner of the Nobel Prize in physics, resigned yesterday as a Fellow from the American Physics Society over its ‘incontrovertible’ position on global warming.Giaever: ‘Climategate was a fraud on a scale I have never seen…Effect on APS position: None. None at all. This is not science’
