@mattg6288 some psycho I met on lack78's page, he has been hounding me to show a picture of my computer, lol, ah i have over a hundred videos, some are of my computer, but this guy keeps emailing me saying "you show me, I show you"
You were correct, and I must say I am considering this instead of a MacBook Pro, Why?
Well I'd buy the 16GB version and the Keyboard dock.
I'd use that at University with my iPhone carrying music, video etc, and using iWork on the iPad. That would be perfect, and then I don't need to buy a £1,000 computer to do the same thing.
@TheDarxo agreed, I was correct, lol, but yes, I am very happy. They will be making a word processing package for it so it will be a good computer substitute
OkK, official name:iPad 9.7 in giant ipod touch + book reader 3g available if you want, 250mb 14.99 /month, unlimited 29.99/ month, AT&T also book reader can run iphone apps 10 hour battery accessories: keyboard dock cover (like kindle) stand adapters for camera and SD card slots (i believe you can only import data) built in speakers and microphone no camera
I know, great job. Are you considering getting it? I am. I most likely won't get the 3g version, but I would love to see your thoughts, even if you just make a 2 min video.
realized another thing, why is apple having programmers write programs for it? you don't need specail programs for an osx machine, but you de need apps designed for the bigger ipod
They would need special programs for an OSX machine, it's all touchscreen. If it is a giant iPod though, it better run iPhone apps, or I will yell, lol.
The iSlate idea for a computer is not a bad idea, nor is it a great one. But what i have noticed is that when Apple makes something better than what already exists, other companies want to compete. For instance, the iPod made others build mp3s and mp4s, the iphone made other build better smart phones than what already existed. Microsoft even tries to get some of the OSX feel on their OS but with a whole different face. The iSlate might do the same since HP and HTC are also planning a tablet.
apple lies. the ipod was a copy of a sony music player already in existence, the iphone was a copy of the lg prada using nokia styled software. And futjitsu has been selling tablet computers for over ten years, yet you are already being suckered by apple brainwashing to believe apple is about to invent the first tablet computer.
it is easy to fall into the "apple makes everything better" way of thinking, but my point is i don't care if apple comes out with a quadcore super tablet, tablets sell poorly for a reason. The fujitsu tablet was probably the best ever made, but still only made up 5% of fujutsu sales.
just take a minute and think logically on how you would use a tablet, will you use it all day long holding it in your hand? no, it will be on a desk, so just by a macbook
im not trying to defend apple, only reason i buy their products is because they last. tablets might not have been popular because of the lack of multi touch and other nice features companies have created, people could be ready now. a tablet can be hold like a book and maybe come with a recharging dock for desk use. for internet they could implement a Cell phone chip like the vaio UX for a sim card or mobile data plan. a tablet is great for college, developing apps, movies, photos and carpentry
and don't say apple will make a stylus for it because you can't use a stylus with glass, and we all know whatever they make it will have a glass screen
but why use a stylus? multitouch is better than a poking the screen with a stick. i've used palm devices and even a nintendo ds and1/8 of the time i would lose the stylus or break it somehow. unless u have metal/wood fingers then u cannot use the device. multitouch brings ease of use along with realistic feel.
why use a stylus? tablets have one main purpose, to function as notebooks, not laptops but actual notebooks you can write in and sketch and draw. If you can't write on it, why get it? What are you going to use it for, why carry it like a tablet at all? if you have to put it down on a desk and use a keyboard, real or virtual, you might as well get a real laptop
funny, or sad, just because I am not a mactard doesn't mean I don't like Apple, I am not crazy about thier overpriced computers but love their ipod line.
Just can't picture them making any type of computer, especailly after their sales dropping for the last 9 months straight. they dont need another overpriced computer
i agree 100%. I was just pointing out that it would be ironic if they weren't making a tablet. I have a 1st generation iPod touch but I can't imagine buying a mac and not feeling like I over payed. I think the iPod touch needs a refreshment. There really hasn't been a major change to the exterior. They made them more powerful and threw in a speaker, but that's it. I can't wait to see what happens, whether we get an iPod, Tablet, or a touchscreen with an iPod glued to it.
I know, I can't wait either. It's going to be at 1 p.m., right when I'm at school :(. So as I go through US history, I'm going to know that this is happening. Won't get to see what's up until 3 p.m.. Please do a recap video if you can.
Well, when I get home at 3 PM philadelphia time (EST i believe, same as NYC) i'll throw a comment on here saying some of the things for ya so if you have a second at work, you can get a quick recap.
a computer like that with nothing but a touchscreen would be worthless. there would be no such thing as typing a report, or gaming. the only thing it would be good for would be watching vids, listening to music, but mostly surfing the web...
yes, a computer that size will be pretty useless and I think Apple is smart enough to know that, but they also know an ipod touch that size might do well if it can replace other devices, like book readers and gps units.
I think if Apple is silly enough to come out with a computer, it will be the beginning of the end for them, they will lose millions, their stock will go down, and they will never take chances again.
I have never heard that, but any os can be turned into a tablet edition pretty easy, my point is 1% of the computer market is tablets, why would apple make somethig for 1% of the market?
@AndrewXAnarchy your missing my point, many computer companies have made tablets before, they didn't sell well. That is not because they sucked(Futjitsu made a near perfect one my sister used for years), it is because there isn't much use for tablets. It's like 5 wheeled cars, if apple made 5 wheeled cars would they sell well JUST because its made by apple? no, when you stop and think, a tablet is a pretty useless form of computer
@MirekMateju yes I remember seeing one, it cost three times the price of a macbook but it sold well. The latest rumor I have heard is that a touch screen imac might be coming, but I do not believe it
vlog, nah, these face to faces will be rare, don't want to scare anyone, lol. But gotta make some kind of video once in a while and I am one of the only people predicting the islate is nothing more than a big ipod, it will be super if i am right and all the professional sites are wrong
Since the ipod touch came out I have wanted a bigger one for internet browsing, so I will keep hoping it will come. But remember the were no pictures of the iphone until it came out either, and funny enough, EVERY pro rumor site was totally wrong, it was just an ipod with a phone and camera built in. i predicted that one too, but it was before youtube so only my friends know that for a fact
I would like it to come out, but for me as I am I dunno if I will buy one, so I'm not that bothered.
Why? Well about August this year I am planning on buying another computer, I have my iMac for at home which is all well and good. But I need a portable computer if I end up going to University. So I am currently planning on getting a 13 inch MacBook Pro (I know you had problems with yours. But my iMac has been flawless). But if the 'iSlate' does everything I require, I shall [Cont]
1. Price, if it's about £500, I'd consider it more 'cause £1,000 for a laptop, especially as a second computer is quite a bit.
2. Functionality, if it runs OS X, as opposed to iPhone OS and it can run all the Apps I have here on my iMac, I'd definitely consider it a lot more than I do now, as I agree with you about it being a large iPod touch. [Cont]
[Cont] 3. Size, like I said at the moment I'm considering 13 inches as a second computer which would be perfect, if the 'iSlate' is too small, I'd consider 7 inches too small for a REAL computer, then I will not buy it. If it's 10 inches then I'll definitely consider it, I mean I'd have to go to an Apple Store and test it myself.
4. Subsidised price, If it has a 3G connection of sorts and I have to pay monthly for it, I will not buy, because I already have an iPhone contract. [Cont]
There have been tablet laptops for 20 years but the 5 inch HP hasn't come out yet, and I don't think it will sell well. Everyone is coming out with new tablets to fight an Apple tablet that no one is sure exists, and no one is sure it is even a tablet computer.
I don't think that would make a good ipod. The whole point of an ipod is portability. An ipod that big is not portable, it is a nuisance. If you wan't to watch videos, get a 13" macbook. An ipod is not for watching movies. it has that option but the main thing is listening to music. All apple should do is make a more powerful ipod touch with the same size and thinner if possible. That is what apple should be focusing on.
@marick626 a more powerful ipod? if all you want to do is listen to music why not get a nano? the whole reason the touch was invented was for internet and movies, and both these purposes would work better on a bigger screen
no, the whole reason the IPOD was created was for portability. Doesn't mater if its the touch or the nano. That was the whole point apple had when creating an mp3 player. Something that you can put on your pocket and take out when you want. There are hundreds of devices out there that have bigger screens for watching movies and stuff.
