@bigserge1990 I am Mexican and I have seen first hand what Carlos Slim has been doing to Mexico, I agree with you in some points, although he does practically own Mexico, the Mexican economies is essentially made up of several monopolies, and Carlos Slim holds many in telecommuting, Mexican citizens have no other options regarding telecom and Carlos Slim has taken advantage of this.
@Miloshyy I don't like monopolies, I think they should be illegal but really telecomunications is a very small part of one economy, what's more disturbing to me is that the goverment owns PEMEX, as you know Mexico has one of the biggest oil deposit deposit in the world ( not the biggest ) and still buys oil from other countries, I'm not sure if it's and strategy from the goverment, but what worries me is that it enriches the govt.

@Miloshyy Also the govenment is selling the Mexican patrimony to foreigners, like all the pyramids do not belong to "Mexico" anymore that worries me more than Slim owning telmex, telcel, telecom and movistar, however Mexico has a pretty stable economy as it reaches more than what is call a good economy which is 3.5% annualy ( I cannot recall the exact number but is about 3,9% ) and next year the GDP is expected to grow from 3.5-4.5%.

Yes, it has one of the highest rates compared to the rest of the developed world, but that is totally different. Look to Africa and Asia and you'll see that you'd rather live in Mexico.

Ok maybe its not impoverished like somalia or darfur, (although I think some mexicans would argue that there lives are just a bad), but come on an awful lot of people in mexico and the rest of central and south america have nothing and have to live in fear.

So Mexico is a prosperous society then because people just happen to eat allot of unhealthy food? Thousands of murders, rapes, and peasants so desperate they will get to the US no matter how dangerous even as mules and then work for fuck all, hell some are not paid at all.

Certainly USA is a wealthier country than Mexico, but than doesn't mean that Mexico is a impoverished nation, remember Mr. Slim mades his fortune in México, selling services to Mexicans like internet, computers, phones, cellphones, financial services, etc. If we Mexicans are so poor, why can millions of Mexicans pay all those bills every month?

@parrotcar The answer for your question of why thousands of Mexicans cross the border every year to the USA is simple...they are stupid lazy bastards, they belive that the life showed in the Hollywood films are real. And like I said , The USA 's economic are bigger and more dinamic, the inmigration for economic reasons happens even in the US (from the middle west to the big cities for example). If you can earn more money in other place doing the same activity its natural to inmigrate.
