I read a tech article if you ever wanted to quiet down the blower whine a little. Drill some small holes in the grooves of the top pulley so the air escapes.. the noise is from the air being trapped in between the belt and the grooves on the top pulley.
I say it's a belt drive blower. I see the belt/pulley right up front !
