If it's called "My Channel" you should be able to customize it different meaning there should be 2 channel options (the new and old layouts.) Also the old designs were easier to make channel backrounds for. You really shouldn't force us to the new designs and just give us options.

@FindingLivvey I don't really have much experience on building an audience, seeing how I just have an account so I can post comments, but have you tried making your video titles clear and to the point? Simple titles seem to get more hits, because if somebody searches, lets say, how to cook a specific type of food, the video titled "How to Cook Food X" is going to get more hits than a video titled, lets say, How to Cook My Version of Food X." But I'm just going off of logic here.

What's more is that it's really hard (wait no, impossible) it give your channel your own personality. Why REMOVE the option to customize the colours on the YouTube channel - plain old black and white will have to do I guess...

The tips you give nothing different then any other people.Asking to sub is begging.Why should we ask people for sub .Lot of people do that, we don't sub to them because they beg for them self I found a bit youtube is unfair. Some people do lot of positive, good things for communities putting lot of efforts in to their videos getting no view. Some people rude and doing rubbish getting thousands of views.It is very upsetting and very unfair .I hope you could be more promotive for community heros.

@Artforall100 there is a fine line between asking for subs and sub-begging,it doesn't really matter if you over step the line just don't lunch over the line by several miles[the best way I think to ask is to put a subscribe annotation near the end of the video,people who have watched to the end probably liked it so they'll probably want to sub].

if you aren't geting views and you believe you are doing good content,check that it isn't exactly the same as what every one ells is doing.

- produce music. good music. electronic music incl. drum & bass,

- make scientific videos esp. about the universe, theories of timetravel, etc.

- educational videos on history, esp. wayback history incl. mayans and sumerian civilizations.

that's the only way to make me subscribe hehheh ;)
