Uh, no offense dude, but the perk system isn't the reason you lost, you're obviously just not that good at the game.

1. At least in the beta, there aren't any perks that give you extra speed or anything.

2. You can fire power-ups backwards. Should've done that near the end to avoid that "fireball".

IMO, the perk system is just fine. Gives you something else to work toward and customizing them is very addicting.
