It takes a certain level of intelligence and comprehension to be able to get a person like Russell Brand. He is so complex and even if the sexual content sometimes becomes annoying I guess it`s because after all his intention and the one of his promoters is solely to entertain us. Saying he`s not for all ages, that`s more appropriate, but I guess that`s why his show is late and has warnings... Thinking about it more i realize he`s like Jim Morrison in his time, except the music of course.

He presented for MTV and C4 since back in 2000, and did Big Brothers Big Mouth way before he was an "A-list celeb". I'm pretty sure his presenting style and ability to make people laugh (whether that includes you or not) had something to do with it. Similarly, I don't think the BBC were looking through the tabloids to see who to give a Radio 2 presenting job to.
Most people who read those papers dislike him, much like yourself I presume, so I doubt that has anything to do with his success.

You've completely missed the point. Obviously his presenting style has had a lot to do with his career oppertunities, I'm not disputing that. The point I'm trying to make is the media can either make or break you. In Brands case they've played a considerable part in his career success. What is celeb status, popularity? They can make you as popular or unpopular as they like, hense influencing your celeb status. If you didn't hear of Brand before the 'call', the chances are you have now.

I agree with you that the call fiasco should be reported on and if anything, I'm fully aware that this has boosted his profile no end, which is ironic given Daily Mail's crusade.
