New Wind came out in 1986, not '87. "Colourblind Jam" was added as a bonus track to the CD version- not on the original LP release, not the original closer. (At least, not on my copy.) Praise EP came out in 1987, and was the "album" that really turned off hardcore fans. I love that EP, though (as well as 7 Seconds earlier albums). But I loved U2 back in the day. And I loved the 'Mats and Soul Asylum. Other than these small points, I think what you're saying is pretty spot on. Great post!
Coincidentally, the Praise EP was recorded in Minneapolis at Nicollet Studios in December 1986, by Steve Fjelstad-- who also did work for The Replacements, Husker Du, Soul Asylum, REM, and more.
Great set of songs. I brought 7 Seconds to Madison in 1989 at the loft, I would love to see footage for that show...
