He played it in more of a fashion of how it was written. It's a ballad. CCR did a ' rock ' version, but the song stands out performed more intimately, as John does here.

Make no mistake, I have always liked John Fogerty & CCR since I was a teenager. But I prefer the original version John performed together with the band. His voice then was raw and unrestrained and the band was always superb. Love their kind of Bayou Rock....lost forever after the band split.
