To round this out - we need to vote directly for the premier (who may or may not run for a riding as well). Do not vote for STV - it has some benefits but actually strengthens the root problem.

The current system? STV? They are bad choices - both of them. The root problem is that we have a party system and STV reinforces that. We need legislation which greatly minimizes (read; eliminates as much as possible) the influence of parties in our system. Then we can vote for the individual who is best for our riding.
