If you want to be logical, they had planned to have Snake in the game long before the the trailer release at E3, considering Hideo Kojima wanted to have snake included in melee but the game was to far in development and was practically ready for release, so they had time to put him in the story and give him a more in-depth role to play. Sonic on the other hand, was introduced by the website due to fan base so they had to figure a way to add him to the story without changing it drastically.
So they put him the last scene because it's the ending scene and it doesn't change the root of the story by switching everything around just to fit him in.

its good when sonic destroyed his wings because what if he didnt destroy the wings? tabuu will continue using that move and turn any survivers into trophies then the brawl universe will come to an end thats why i think its good for sonic to break tabuu's wings

Then the Great Maze level starts and then when you have finished it and ready to fight Tabuu, thats when this cutscence plays and Sonic saves the day. Then he joins the other character to take down Tabuu. That would have been awesome. But doesn't matter. Its too late now. Im just happy hes in the SSE.
Awesome cutscene. when i first played this, i was only playing to get snake and sonic. i had snake, but i was like where's sonic....then bam...he's at the end saving everyone's butt. this kinda tones down the rivalry between nin and sega, huh?

@hhheeeccckkk526 Actually, I did my research. Sony begged and pleaded with Nintendo for Snake to be in Melee but the process was too far along. Snake was put in Brawl because Sony wouldn't shut up about it. And as for Sonic, that was an agreement. Sega practically became partners with Nintendo so they threw him in as a vote for any character. I did the research and I know what happened for these characters.

That move was weakened that's just it, it hits you and if you are damaged its lights out, basically the same as before but with a lower range.

Of course, when you think about it, even though most people wanted sonic in I dont think sega would have ASKED for their major rival's main character to make a huge impact on their game, you know? when i first played this, i was only playing to get snake and sonic. i had snake, but i was like where's sonic....then bam...he's at the end saving everyone's butt. this kinda tones down the rivalry between nin and sega, huh?

@hhheeeccckkk526 Actually, I did my research. Sony begged and pleaded with Nintendo for Snake to be in Melee but the process was too far along. Snake was put in Brawl because Sony wouldn't shut up about it. And as for Sonic, that was an agreement. Sega practically became partners with Nintendo so they threw him in as a vote for any character. I did the research and I know what happened for these characters.
