@firelegendmushroom Music is an art form whose medium is sound. Common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics, and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike), "(art) of the Muses." from wikipedia
@firelegendmushroom dude , I've been watching your channel and you have some very exquisite music in there , ergo I'm surprised of your judgment on Carlos del Pino , I think his technique is correct but his logic it's not , he has the skills for be a great musician but at the present is all mix up , what he's playing does not have a melodic sense it's just a rush of notes ( many of them wrong , not even blue notes!!) not dynamics
@plabentos While yes I also wouldn't call him a virtuoso, I don't think people should just be putting him down either, the original comment didn't give any reason as to why it was "anything but music".
It isn't clear if there is any harmony in this solo everybody. He is kind of just flapping his fingers around. Where is the melody? I am sure he is a bad ass, no disrespect, I highly respect Cubanm music. IT is just a big technical excercise. He should post something where he plays some music .
He is a real upright bass player. I bet this guy can play the upright in a situation where most bass players would be incredibly uncomfortable and inadequate! GO to Cuba and go fill in on on of his gigs if you are so certain of yourself ! I know he is just noodling around not doing much here, but I bet the man can clear the cattle off the field when it comes to Tumbao and Timba and Rhythm! The man can probably shake the band off the stand when it comes to playing bass.
because of the body hes able to play it like an electric bass guitar so thats why his hand technique is so ackward and thats were his speed comes from too
If I see him play this on an acoustic upright, then I will say he is good. For electric uprights it is like taking an upright bass guitar and turning it vertical. The scale length on that thing isnt even that of an acoustic upright. Hes good, he should just play on an acoustic.
Maybe a bassist out there can answer this question for me. Does playing an electric upright feel significantly different from playing a regular acoustic upright bass?
to me, yes. I haven't played too many electric uprights, but the ones i had played seemed very awkward to me. the bass this guy is playing i would have hell with because there is no body, which changes the feeling of playing. the acoustic upright bass also resonates a certain way because of its acoustic properties, while the electric acoustic upright doesn't really have that.
so yes, the feeling is defidently very different.
Soy bajista tambien y mi opinion es que las escalas, los modos juntos con otros terminos musicales lo volvieron loco.

@plabentos most of what he's playing is incorrect( notes not match the harmonie )
plabentos 1 year ago
@plabentos Just because its not technically correct doen't mean it isn't music. Also I think it might be in drop D.

São técnicas muito boas, mais ele está tocando outra musica. Musica é harmonia se o musico não faz harmonia nãoi adianta fazer mil notas.

That's an NSD WAV 4, for your information...with a 41.75" scale length, just like a 3/4 DB.
