  • I have a homemade simple cap that i hooked in parallel to the output leads of FBT and I get nice big long bright and loud high rep sparks.

  • is the transformer hooked dir to mains? can you pls explain step by step your whole circuit and include values of voltages amps and capacitance of every component. have you ever tried using an electronic ballast for a driver? you can buy them separately and simply hook EB to mains and to primary of FBT, gives great results similar to what I saw in your video but the FBT must have 11 pins for it to work, dont ask me why but for sum reason it only works well with 11 pin ones.

  • seems like there is lota amps here I was looking at the schematics where you got this from, your resistor values are a little off from his design but basically the same setup, does the transistor come with diode damper already built in? and did you place a cap to that? so you have two caps one on transistor and one on the transformers output, I am confused as to the value of yours and his? his says 4700mF and .47mF? but you only mention one .56mF? what is the output of your transformer?

  • I noticed as you pull the arc back it remains an arc untill it extinguishes,, how come you dont get sparks before this happens? is this cause of your trans, cap or power supply? cause single transistor drivers or CFL drivers dont behave like that? they make purple arcs when gap is small and as you pull arc becomes zapping sparks from purple to white bluish color.

  • @ARCSTREAMS This probably depends on the output current from the transformer (related to driver power) and the transformer's self capacitance.

  • Does it have to be that kind of transistor? I have those, and other types and I can't seem to get the other models to do anything >.>

  • Its possible to use a 2SC1454 transistor in this driver?

  • @malicious1111 I think it could work, try it and see.

  • @JNed14 jo asi jo.

  • impressive for such a simple circuit. mine only made 1.5in arcs

  • can a 2n3055 simple flyback driver destroy the flyback?

  • hmm im gonna make this driver with MJ15024

  • the performance is satisfactory. but we can not find KD606 across? coi is the transistor which is equivalent to KD606? and what is the input voltage?

  • @11223marc hello, try 2N3773, MJ15003 or even the 2N3055 but it is faked a lot nowadays. Use any NPN planar power transistor with >=100V 10A rating. Do not use transistors which are rated over 250 volts.

  • @jmartis2 hello,

I made a montage and an old TV and I find the reference transistor is one TESLA KU607VB-R

it's a good transistor? and you use silent as input power?

  • @11223marc hi, seems to be a good transistor, try it.

  • @jmartis2 are you try E13009L? the result are great!

  • combien est l'alimentation de départ?

    (i speak france)

  • Ok, lol this ism like my 6th comment but i built your circuit(thanks lol) and it's not working. I dont know if it is just something simple like feedback problems or maybe something's dead D: hope not, but i kinda tweaked the values because i used a 0.38μF poly-film cap, used a 450Ω resistor on input, and used a 35v 3000μF cap on input

  • @zker666 have you tried changing the polarity of one of the coils? What is the input voltage?

  • @jmartis2 Yes, i have changed the polarity of the primary, reversed the primary and feedback polarities together, and one with just the feedback reversed. My input voltage is 24v @ 4A

  • Are you running with a 2N3055?

  • @zker666 It is a KD606 transistor (made by our country's company which no longer exists), but a 2N3055 should work OK too, beware of chinese fakes however :D

  • yeah, chinese fakes are rampent =D I think i made a teeny tiny 4" tesla coil with chinese caps and they exploded on me D=. But they were like 50 cents each, though!

  • @jmartis2 oo the arc is pretty but me i make a giant sparks witch 2SB347

  • NICE man. I use 2N3055 but it gets VERY hot after longer runs : D

  • KD606s must be much better than crappy old 2n3055s to work this good!

  • I think you can get similar results with a good 3055, this circuit is modified a bit.

  • tried it with BDY56 transistor and 24v

    arcs are 6cm long.

but i turned to better invertor circuits(h bridge push pull etc)

  • yeah me too :) this is just a simple circuit with better performance than the basic "2n3055" circuit.

  • Wow! Those are some really nice results! I want to try build one, but would a 2N3055 transistor work for this circuit? (I could not find the KD606 transistor...)

  • I think it would, maybe 2N3773 would be better (if you can find a non-fake one). The KD transistors are old "TESLA" products, not available anywhere. (but they were the best :)

  • wow nice results :P

  • Thanxs for help me and your answers are very importants!

  • A BY500/200 plastic diode. Appears in your shematic across the 200V 0.47uF capacitor and the emitter and collector of the 2N3055 or your KD606.

  • yes, that's it. If it works without it, OK. The transistor sees negative C-E spikes which can destroy it. Some work, others die without the diode.

  • the diode isn't necessary.

  • which diode? across the transistor? It will probably work without it but the transistor can die soon.

  • Also, the push pull transistor driver, i can connect a resonant cap across the EMITTER and the COLECTOR of the transistor?

  • I think you can connect it across the whole primary winding... but i think its better to build the zvs driver in this stage.

  • But I burnt my nice overloaded flyback!!!

  • Delete the first commentary only...:S!I can't speak correctly in english, however i can say few words.

  • It is also good to parallel connect 2 or even 3 transistors, I found they will share the power quite nicely and will run cooler.

  • My circuit have this components: single 2N3055 power transistor, a 220R 20W power resistor for R1, a 15Ohm resistor with a 2W 10 Ohm resistor in parallel for R2, a 0.22uF capacitor and a PR1503 1A Plastic Fast recovery diode. I can draw with my 30V power supply a 6 CM very hot arc! but the transistor are overloaded. because, i want install in the circuit any voltage regulator, or light bulbs. HELP ME PLEASE?? I don't blow up my power transistor!

  • What can I tell you? The obvious answer is to decrease input voltage. Mine runs on 18V and will run for some minutes without overheating.

  • my circuit works good!!!! for the resonant cap i've putted a 0.22uF cap.
