I would like to find my mentor, my socrates, I'm 19 now in college, with a lot of questions on life and normally I would go to my dad, but he passed away last august...He wasn't much of a mentor, but he would always try to set me start..I just don't know who to go to now...Living in milwaukee, and I am from a small country town in MN, so I hope I find him soon, I feel like I am losing myself everyday, slowly, I am not depressed, but just feel lost, and I have had trouble sleeping for years...
I was sure after reading way of the peaceful warrior, I blew my chance to have a great teacher and gift like Dan received so early on in life. I did learn a very important lesson that day, but those eyes I remember the most, Im sure it had to of been Socrates.
I was at work, and I was taking a break, this went on for about a minute, many people were walking by us it was builders square like a home depot now.I decided to give him my hotdog even though I was very hungry,by then I could not find him anywhere, like he dissapeared,he was just standing there 10 seconds ago, I knew that store in and out, and he had to go past me to leave, but there was no where he could of gone to that fast, being an old man like that.
I was puzzled for years, when i was 18 a man kept tapping me on the shoulder, pointing to his mouth for food, he wouldn't take money he justed wanted the food I was eating. he looked like a bumb an old man with white hair, his eyes were hard to describe kind of black but like teary eyed. I was hungry but in time I was like let me give him my hotdog the guy dissapeared.
mmm...I wonder if Socrates is still out there. Teaching people as they come along. But, if he was really 94 or even 80 when Dan Met him, I doubt he'd be alive today. Or maybe he is. I wol dlike to learn from him. But, I guess I'm just going to have to read Dan's books, and the mysterious mentor will always be that, mysterious.

Dan's life journey is such an incredible story, not unlike our own. What an extremely humble person he is.
