One day my grandma asked me why did I stop taking meat and sent me cat leg to eat, I cried, she didn't see how wrong it was to just take some cat and chop it up. Nevertheless I refused to eat it but it hurts that she comes every week after frying dogs,cats and all kinds of creatures for the family. At least in singapore I don't see that anymore I don't have to lock myself in the room to stay ignorant of what she does.
I promised to never eat a single cat when I was 5 years old. My chinese parents fed me dog,cat and all kinds of stuff when I was very young. But then I saw pet cats and how day slaughtered the cats. I felt so guilty being part of it that I stopped it. From that they onwards I ate my vegetables and refused all forms of meat. Its so cruel to take a life for food. Till today chinese in my area continue to feed on cats but I have moved to singapore now and things are better.

Every year in US, there are about 3 million to 4 million animals are euthanized in shetlers (60 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats).
It estimates up to 70 million stray cats in US (may be caught and euthanized in shelters as well)
I do not see any difference between eating cats in China and killing them in the shelters.
If stealing the cats for food, it is a crime.
If raised in cat farms for food, it is acceptable.

@72dew You should read up on Indian culture...They didn't abolish they caste system till this turn of the century. People were only ever designated in their class system. you couldn't move up, or down. Born poor, you died poor. Upperclass members treated the poor as cattle, using them as slaves and even as "untouchables.". And not to mention they're practices of FEMALE INFANTICIDE! Sure it's okay to toss your newborn infant girl in the river, but don't dare touch the cow!

@72dew And by the way, domestic cats and dogs are one of the FEW animals on this earth that accept affection AND reciprocate it back. Love is very hard to find, so that's why dogs and cats are kept as pets. Whereas Cows, Chickens, and Pigs don't know the first thing of a bond.
