Why so many haters? seriously 5 ppl can play HELL YEA sounds like a good sat night to me mixed in some pizza and bam best friends over UGH hell of a night mostly laughing at the game and playing it till we had enough good times with it.
i fuckin hate this game. I spent too many hours of my life playing this game. I felt like I was in a maze that I could not possibly get out of. I had rented this game with my hard earned 6 bucks as a kid, and had no choice but to endure it or else my 6 dollars would have gone to waste. I tried to make the best of it and make myself believe it was a good game, but no, it sucked ass.
Fuck, I remember taking advantage of the barrow wight / fire pits, just walking back and forth past a fire pit as the wights continually respawned for free experience... took Frodo from 100hp to several thousand
Nostalgia baby! it may have been total shit, but it had loads of atmosphere and an amazing sound track, I think it was one of the first games to have a special sound chip inside the cart (correct me if I'm wrong) but the music was otherworldly.
But yeah the gameplay sucked balls. I mapped every dungeon in order to make it through to the end (which I didn't because I didn't have all the keys at the end to get into Balrogs den.)
What level are you? Just get aragorn over level 22 or so, and make everyone else run out of the room. hit him on the right hand side and run in and out, it takes a long time.
Balrog becomes really easy if you use the 2nd controller to have Frodo block everyone out of the area except Aragorn, as nojer7 said. You can then use troll tactics on it very effectively (attack, dodge, repeat).
naaa, i think he just failed at this level, still i dont blame him. i hated playing this game so much, mostly because of the fucking lame gameplay controll.
seriously, i dont know whats worst, playing with a mouse, or a nintendo controll >_>
I can relate to your frustration - I saved my game just before the balrog. Each party member could kill a troll in a single hit...but we were still clobbered every time.

this would've been decent if the maps weren't so fucked up. the music/atmosphere is beautiful. the gameplay is kinda fun.

Blame Gandalf. As a previous commenter noted, he needs to die before you can harm the Balrog for some reason.

god i played this game so much. At first i thought what a pile of bollocks and turned it off.
But after a few hours I found myself going back to it and finding new things and ended up loveing it.
Ive completed it a few times and the balrog only starts loseing health when Gandalf is dead.
I found that out by puting the 2nd controller in and blocking the rest of the players with frodo at the bottom of the map so they wouldnt die.
After 20mins of trying to kill him he was still ther.
