it was during the time of Mike Tyson's rape incident and Nintendo didn't want kids affiliate with his name and Nintendo. so the just added Mr. Dream. It's funny cause there moves and timing where identical, they just change his color kinda.

NOPE! The rape incident had absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo not renewing the contract. Nintendo felt the game was already popular enough to stand on it's own merits and felt it didn't need endorsement from Tyson.

Nothing about Tyson's personal life played any role whatsoever in him no longer being in the game.

I was playing that game in ROTC and some people where wondering if the game designers where rascist because they made people of other races look stupid and gave them weird names like the japanese guy was named Piston Honda. But I don't really have an opinion about it.

I've beaten Super Macho Man in one round without getting touched once. But I never beat Tyson. I've gone into the 2nd round with him, but he always beats me.

Nah he was in the remake that Nintendo released because soon after they released Mike Tysons Punch out he got into some trouble with the law, and nintendo didnt want people that played the game to think that they are endorsing that kind of behavior so they released another version with Mr. Dream instead of Mike Tyson

That's not true, the Mr.Dream version came out in 1990, and Mike wasn't convicted until sometime in '91. It probably more had to do with losing his title to Buster.

Maybe they made it so they didn't have to pay any royalty fees to Tyson for using his likeness. Plus when Mike Tyson's Punchout came out, Tyson was the hottest boxer out there. The same wasn't true after he was beaten.
