Nice gun. Moved from Ohio when I was a kid, 30 some years ago. I'm glad I don't live there anymore. Move to Washington. The rest of us did. ( = Anyway, that's a good lookin' set-up you have there. Enjoy.
@devyn172 H&R N.E.F for the most part stay with the single shot format. There are some Pump shot gun models made buy this company. There are also other option as far a the wood used in the stock and for arm. H&R sells the utlra sluggster with 4 stock options. I like the monte carlo stock myself.
i had the same one with a rifled barell but i got a new reminton 11877 i have killde 3 deer with that same gun as u over 70 yard shots and they all ran under 40 yards i kiled 2 bucks and 1 doe doe was 40 yards 1 st buck was 80 and my most recent 1 was 60 dropped right there all with 1 shot
@martinsx7 I have both the 11-87 is not as accurate as a H&R Ultra slug gun with the bull barrel, try shooting both guns at 100 -150 yards and you will never use the 11-87 for deer hunting anymore
That's a nice looking gun. I use those same slugs in an 870 12 gauge and they're nice. I'd say that they're really good out to 100 yds. Remington publishes a 50 yd zero with 3.5 inches of drop at 100 yds. With a 100 yd zero you're about 2 inches high at 50 yds. But they do keep a nice tight group out to 100 yds or so. Out at 150 you've got about another 8 inches of drop and point of impact can drift considerably left or right. The 20 gauge might do better. Nice video. Good hunting.
This shotgun in 20 guage has a bull barrell. Lightfield slugs work the best and are deadly at 150 yards. This gun has been one of the biggest secrets, because everyone is under the impresion that it's only a single shot.....I have harvested three deer at one sitting.......Don't pass this firearm up......I have semi auto Benelli's and the like that cant touch the accuracy of this firearm.......
I've talked to veteran shotgun deer hunters in PA who have switched to this in 20 gauge. Claiming they are very accurate with a good scope and deadly up to 150 yards. I'm seriously considering switching to one.
@PredatorSlayer1 You're way off fag. I'm a early 20 something what the Hell do you think the 88 is for ya stupid douche. Go back to trolling those other fags who post Call of Duty videos and leave real people in the real world alone.
That shotgun looks exactly like my NEF 50cal muzzleloader. Ofcourse HR and NEF are essentially the same company so I would expect that. The muzzleloader version is alittle heavy also, but sure gets the job done fast.
Does that Ultra Hunter shoot the new 3 1/2" 20 ga shells?
Why do people "laugh" at a scope on a shotgun? You aren't using bird or buck shot in it you retards. You are using a slug or huge ass bullet with a lot of powder. You guys are the dipshits who said it made you laugh.
Hey cool gun i live in Ohio too but i drive down to Kentucky to hunt but an out sate licence in Kentucky is expensive (120-130 dollars) Worth every penny though
LOL.. A shotgun with a scope. Makes me fucking laugh..... Cause were i from. Hounding or night flashing with a good Mossberg 500 or a Winchester 1300 12 guage is all i ever used and scored ever single time.. It just me. i hate sittin and waitin or cheating with a baited field. Im a hound and all wayswill be.. here in Canada Ontario
We have two of them and would trade them for anything. Accurate with a range of up to 200 yards. We have a 20 and a 12, the wife uses the 20 and I use the 12. I have a video up of us shooting a 7 and an 8 point with ours. I have taken a bunch of deer now with mine.
What Kinda Scope Is That? I'm Buying A 12 Gauge Moss Burg Pump Shotgun For Deer Hunting And Rabbit/Squirrel Hunting...So I Am Wondering If I Should Scope It Or Not...IDK Yet...Was Also Considering Getting A Single Shot 12 Gauge Instead...Is That A Single Shot?
Great gun especially considering the gun laws in your area. I hunt in central Florida and wanted a shotgun that would shot slugs and shot. I have a regular HR 12 gauge that with a little work has a red dot reticle and a polychoke 2. Have you tried shoting small game loads thru your gun or can you for that matter. That is a cool looking gun man.
@barronredneck I don't think you can shoot any other loads than sabot slugs through this gun. Well, I guess you could, but I think it would mess up the rifling. Not a bad gun at all for the price! Thanks for watching man!
@guitarmikey2 wait in this vid you said it was bow season i live on longisland. do u live here? cuz its bow season in october then november gun season starts
@guitarmikey2 All your getting with rifled barrel and wad type rifle slugs. is that there supposed to be more accurate. What one would gain isn't worth the money. That is why I shoot a muzzle loader. Also with a inline muzzle loaded, 150gr.powder 250gr. power belt you get 2250 fps.Which is same as 30.6 with a 200gr. bullet.
@guitarmikey2 Nice gun, but I don't like rifled slug barrels. You have to use the rifle slugs that are completely covered in a wad,or the riflings get lead up. Which you are using. A smooth bore with reg. rifle slugs shot just as good,or a barrel with a improved cylinder. I live in Ohio also. I use a CVA 50.Cal Wolf Muzzle Loaded in shotgun, and muzzle season. With a muzzle loader 150-200 yard shots with ease. A shotgun with a smooth, or rifled barrel 125 yards is about your max.
Very nice slug gun, I'm so glad you appreciate what you dad got for you enough to keep it with you for life. This gun would be a great hand me down to your kids or grand kids when you can't use it any more. Don' t listen to the uneducated that have never seen a rifled slug or a slug from a rifled barrel reach out accurately out to 200 yard. The retained energy of that huge slug is sure to put a hurt on anything it lands on. May it serve you well and bring you plenty of game!
@pacree It came with this tasco 4x scope. I definitely don't think you need any more magnification, and as long as the scope has a clear reticle and keeps a decent zero, it should be fine. Nothing too special needed for a slug gun in my opinion...Good luck!
@pacree u need a scope thats over 60 bucks becouse u need a heavier scope if ur going to be using slugs. the recoil will break cheap ones that dont weigh much.
@pacree I own the 870 combo, used it for deer hunting with sabot slugs. Then switch to smooth bore for birds.
Anyhow, my scope is a bushnell 40mm zoom Trophy 3 x 9 x40. Works great because I can zoom in on slug shots over 100 yards. And yes , I have shot a deer at 100 yards easily with this scope and 1 oz slugs.
that shot gun is made to to reach out and touch something ur just fuckin stuck up and cant believe in nothing my friend has one and i watched him put two bullets in one hole at 100 yards
Hey, im new to hunting and i just purchased this gun but 12 gauge version. I wanted to know whether or not the 12 gauge like this one would be a good gun to begin hunting with and what scope i should purchase for it, thank you.
@OntarioPrepper This particular one actually doesn't come with iron sights, it comes with a scope from the factory. But no, if you put some iron sights on it, they would work just fine :)
@bucktruk There's plenty of videos on youtube of non-rifled shotguns shooting normal slugs 150 to 200 yards with accuracy. Rifled bore's like the one on this shotgun make it even more accurate. If you think I know "nuttin" then that's cool.
@bucktruk your a dumbshit if you think a shotgun cant go 150 yards. they can go for a mile, go back to playing your fucking video games where shotguns shoot 15 feet
@bucktruk To the jackass that thinks a shotgun won't shoot 150 yds. Why don't you go and stand down range at 150 yds the next time someone is shooting slugs out of their 12 gauge. Oh wait, let me buy a life insurance policy on you first. Do they sell life insurance policies for jackasses????
Don’t mistake inexpensive with cheap. These H&R slug guns are excellent quality and extremely accurate, especially the heavy bull barrels. I harvested my first deer with an H&R Ultra Light Slug Gun in 12 gauge (SB1-S14.) I dropped my buck at 75 yards. For the price it is a great beginner gun, but you would never find any other gun any more accurate.
There would never be a need to upgrade. The H&R will keep doing what it was designed to do for years to come. It is a great workhorse of a gun it is rugged, tough and accurate. You could put a life time of food on the table with it. Maybe even your kids and grandkids would still be using it in years to come. Also for just about $60-80 H&R will fit just about any barrel they make to your receiver.
They have a full range of different shotgun barrels featuring smooth and rifled bore and heavy bull or regular barrels. Just about any rifle cartridges you could want to hunt with is also an option. This makes the H&R platform ready to go hunting year-round for any type of game. You may have several barrels one for each occasion.
Because the scope mounts to the barrel once you have zeroed it you can change barrels all you want. No matter what every time you reattach the barrel to the receiver it will be zeroed exactly as it was the last time you had it installed as long as you haven’t hit the scope on something.
i gotta a nef pardner 10 gauge single shot that i shoot 766 grain federal slugs , its got a red dot scope with a shell holder in the side of the stock that holds one new shell that ejects to my hand
Hey man great video, i have a 20 gauge h&r same as yours just without the bull barrel and i shoot hornady sst's and this past season i made my farthest shot on a deer with her so far, 185 yards out on a bean field on a 115 pound button buck. Dropped right in his tracks, complete pass through, through and through both shoulders
@MrDiem2 20mm is considerably bigger than .50 yet it is not illegal. Check out Anzio Iron works. Cartridges larger than .50 may be Class III but not illegal. In some respect the licensing process for gun owners (bill of attainder) and the NFA is illegal; check the 2nd Amendment and The Constitution. Also Rifled barrel shotguns aren’t considered high power rifles. They still have relatively show yet heavy slugs.
Most rifles have hyper velocity slugs of light or medium weights. The ones with heavy weights such as 20mm and 50BMG are also hyper velocities with extended range. The Shotgun is lower pressure round with limited range.
@guitarmikey2 well actually i am into guns but in my country people only use shotguns for hunting rabbits birds etc so it would be pointless to use a scope, so i have never seen anyone using it
@guitarmikey2 oh wow nice my dad was talking about taking me hunting with a shot gun and i was like WAAAAAT? u need a rifle but now i know. does is use a slug or buck shot?
I just bought the 12ga version of this gun with the laminated thumbhole stock. Mine didn't come with a scope, bought a Vortex Viper 2-7 that I will mount on it. The Vortex Viper is a really good scope and some models are being heavily discounted; $150 for mine.
Can't wait to take my new rig hunting this season in souther Michigan. Good to know this gun has treated you well.
I have a smoothbore version of a single barrel shotgun, past the 18 inch point was dirty, corrroded and pitted all to heck, so now I have an 18 inch barreled shotgun with a pistol grip i fabricated myself. it might not be relevant, but it's just sweet
@hydra046 You might want to measure the full length of your shotgun, muzzle to grip. If the total length is shorter than 26", you need to put that shoulder stock back on. I don't want some law enforcement agency breaking down your door.
cool vid bro... i also have an H&R rifle... only in .223... great for 'anything'... well you know... i've taken down 2 deer, 1 with a head shot, 1 with a shoulder shot, and i had to track for a 1/2 hr... the old man saw it with his scope, and made me go get it ... other than that i use a 30-06 for deer... but would like to try an H&R shotgun for deer.
@guitarmikey2 haha ya, im thinkink bout getting a ultra slug hunter with a badass bdc nikon slughunter scope, but good luck man! remember if its brown its down!
@guitarmikey2 haha ya, im thinkink bout getting a ultra slug hunter with a badass bdc nikon slughunter scope, but good luck man! remember if its brown its down!
wow, i have that same shotgun. i bought it from my neighbor he has a large gun collection. what caliber is yours. 20 12 or 410. i have a 20. he has all three calibers lol.
A rifled barrel is meant only for sabot slugs... on rifled slugs the rifling goes the opposite way and will criss cross your rifling..hence next time you shoot a sabot after shooting a few rifled slugs the sabot will be all over the place
@guitarmikey2 I just make sure every one knows...There are some people (not you) that say to use rifled slugs in a rifled barrel. It as just supposed to get th point across that a rifled slug will ruin a rifled barrel
@2066241 Gotcha, I thought you were replying to something I had said or something. Yes, that's important info. for people to know, I should have put it in the vid. Thanks for your comments!
i would recomend getting a better scope. tascos arent made to take a lot and heavy recoil. i had a tasco on my .270 when i got it and the recoil broke the recticle (made it loose) i have a nikon (buckmaster 3-9x40) now which is AMAZING!
what scope do you have on it? i have the same exact gun and keep having problems with scopes

Also for just about $60-80 H&R will fit just about any barrel they make to your receiver.
HK45Mark23 7 months ago
They have a full range of different shotgun barrels featuring smooth and rifled bore and heavy bull or regular barrels. Just about any rifle cartridges you could want to hunt with is also an option. This makes the H&R platform ready to go hunting year-round for any type of game. You may have several barrels one for each occasion.
HK45Mark23 7 months ago
Because the scope mounts to the barrel once you have zeroed it you can change barrels all you want. No matter what every time you reattach the barrel to the receiver it will be zeroed exactly as it was the last time you had it installed as long as you haven’t hit the scope on something.

i gotta a nef pardner 10 gauge single shot that i shoot 766 grain federal slugs , its got a red dot scope with a shell holder in the side of the stock that holds one new shell that ejects to my hand
31dragun 7 months ago
Hey man great video, i have a 20 gauge h&r same as yours just without the bull barrel and i shoot hornady sst's and this past season i made my farthest shot on a deer with her so far, 185 yards out on a bean field on a 115 pound button buck. Dropped right in his tracks, complete pass through, through and through both shoulders

I always wondered, isn't a shotgun with a rifled barrel technically a rifle, and illegal in the US because it is bigger than .50?
MrDiem2 8 months ago
@MrDiem2 20mm is considerably bigger than .50 yet it is not illegal. Check out Anzio Iron works. Cartridges larger than .50 may be Class III but not illegal. In some respect the licensing process for gun owners (bill of attainder) and the NFA is illegal; check the 2nd Amendment and The Constitution. Also Rifled barrel shotguns aren’t considered high power rifles. They still have relatively show yet heavy slugs.
HK45Mark23 7 months ago
Most rifles have hyper velocity slugs of light or medium weights. The ones with heavy weights such as 20mm and 50BMG are also hyper velocities with extended range. The Shotgun is lower pressure round with limited range.
HK45Mark23 7 months ago
hmm ive never seen a shotgun with a scope... WTF?!
MATANUI720 8 months ago
@MATANUI720 really? not really into guns? There are lots of shotguns out there like this one, that can reach ranges out past 150 yards.
guitarmikey2 8 months ago
@guitarmikey2 well actually i am into guns but in my country people only use shotguns for hunting rabbits birds etc so it would be pointless to use a scope, so i have never seen anyone using it
MATANUI720 8 months ago
@MATANUI720 oh gotcha, that makes sense.
guitarmikey2 8 months ago
@guitarmikey2 oh wow nice my dad was talking about taking me hunting with a shot gun and i was like WAAAAAT? u need a rifle but now i know. does is use a slug or buck shot?

How much of a retard would you feel like if you had pulled the hammer back and left the shell in and the gun went off ??
TheShowbiz28197 9 months ago
@TheShowbiz28197 You would have to be a retard to do something like that. I practice gun safety.
guitarmikey2 9 months ago
I just bought the 12ga version of this gun with the laminated thumbhole stock. Mine didn't come with a scope, bought a Vortex Viper 2-7 that I will mount on it. The Vortex Viper is a really good scope and some models are being heavily discounted; $150 for mine.
Can't wait to take my new rig hunting this season in souther Michigan. Good to know this gun has treated you well.

GARYisweet 11 months ago
I have a smoothbore version of a single barrel shotgun, past the 18 inch point was dirty, corrroded and pitted all to heck, so now I have an 18 inch barreled shotgun with a pistol grip i fabricated myself. it might not be relevant, but it's just sweet
hydra046 11 months ago

@Decapitation95 I don't doubt it, it just came with the gun. It doesn't really matter what kind of scope you have if you don't even see any deer! Lol

guitarmikey2 1 year ago
A rifled barrel is meant only for sabot slugs... on rifled slugs the rifling goes the opposite way and will criss cross your rifling..hence next time you shoot a sabot after shooting a few rifled slugs the sabot will be all over the place
2066241 1 year ago
@2066241 like i said already, that's why I use only sabot slugs in this gun. Not sure what you are getting at...
guitarmikey2 1 year ago
@guitarmikey2 I just make sure every one knows...There are some people (not you) that say to use rifled slugs in a rifled barrel. It as just supposed to get th point across that a rifled slug will ruin a rifled barrel
2066241 1 year ago
@2066241 Gotcha, I thought you were replying to something I had said or something. Yes, that's important info. for people to know, I should have put it in the vid. Thanks for your comments!
guitarmikey2 1 year ago
i would recomend getting a better scope. tascos arent made to take a lot and heavy recoil. i had a tasco on my .270 when i got it and the recoil broke the recticle (made it loose) i have a nikon (buckmaster 3-9x40) now which is AMAZING!
Bandanabandito1 1 year ago
hey just a tip you can get a muzzle loader barrel for that gun.
